What better way to celebrate the mother-figure in your life than to run a race in her honor in time for Mother's Day? Proceeds raised from Family First 5k will benefit Carolina Pregnancy Center (CPC), a non-profit organization that supports moms in need in Pitt County.  Participants who register before April 24 will receive a t-shirt, swag bag, and a token of love to give to the mom in their life. Timed Race: All participants will receive a medal. Healthy Kids Day is a one day festival that will be held at Empie Park on Saturday, April 18, 2026. We will start the Fun Run at 9:30 a.m. The Fun Run will take participants around Empie Park and is just under 1 mile in length.  This is the 13th annual partnership with the City of Wilmington Parks & Recreation and the YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina to present this fun filled day! This is a free community event that will offer families the opportunity to participate in active play and educational opportunities designed to improve health and wellness. 2026 is our 22nd Anniversary for the Belmont Classic 5K and 1 Mile Family Fun Run/Walk. The Belmont Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association (BCPAAA) has hosted the Annual Belmont Classic 5K and 1 Mile Family Fun Run/Walk since 2004. The Belmont Classic 5K is a road race open to all ages and is digitally timed on a certified course. Whether you walk or run, it is great fun for all who participate. The 5K race can be run in-person only.  ALL runners, should register by April 1st if they desire a race t-shirt.  After April 1st, we will NOT have t-shirts available for registrants. Two-day adult sailing classes are offered most weekends from 9 am to 4 pm at Fiddler's Cove Marina. Classes are open to all eligible MWR patrons and sponsored guests. Minimum age requirement is 16 years or older with a parent or guardian. Class fees per person vary by military affiliation and rank. Dependent fees are calculated at the sponsoring active duty or retiree rate. Pre-registration is required as classes can fill up quickly. Registration includes boat rental, instruction, and textbooks. Students per boat will be kept to the minimum amount possible in order to maximize learning potential and will range from one to four. Number of students per boat is dependent on the boat size, sailing conditions and the skills being developed in the class. On completion of the course, participants receive a Navy Sailing Qualification Card. Join Us for Our First School 5K Run / Walk at North Central, a fun and exciting event created to bring families together while prompting health, fitness and school spirit. This race is open to all our school community, students, former students of all ages regardless of fitness level or running experience. Participants may jog, run or walk the 5K course at their own pace. The goal is not to be the fastest, but to have fun, stay active, and be part of a positive school community experience. This is our first school- organized 5K and we are excited to make it a memorable event and start of a new tradition. Saturday, April 18, 2025. This incredible natural area (now known as LLELA) was originally wild and beautiful, full of an endless number of native species. But the area around it became urbanized and the city moved in on it. LLELA was tamed, eventually being surrounded by suburbia (the city, and thousands of people and noise). Now, LLELA, University of North Texas, and the City of Lewisville are working to bring back the wild. Reclaiming it, protecting it, and making beautiful experiences possible for generations to come.  As they work daily to restore and replenish the native plant, tree, and animal life, they are bringing the natural environment back full circle. We invite you to come take part in that process, and enjoy these special trails and eco-systems, while showing your support for LLELA’s great work!
