SSgt Jason Hicks Memorial 5k

We’re excited to announce the 2026 SSgt Jason Hicks Memorial 5k.  This race is in its 14th year.  All proceeds benefit the SSgt. Jason Hicks Memorial Scholarship Fund. Jason and five other US Air Force Combat Search and Rescue airmen were killed in action while on a humanitarian mission in Afghanistan in 2003 as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. Since then, the Scholarship has been awarded annually to a graduating senior from Central High School in Pageland, SC, which was Jason’s alma mater. Any Central High School graduating senior may apply for the Scholarship.  Applicants should demonstrate leadership abilities and community service.  A Scholarship application for the current school year can be printed by clicking the application link on this site. Mount Wilson Trail Race 2026

The Mount Wilson Trail Race returns this year and will be held on Saturday, May 23rd, 2026.  Race start time is 7:30 a.m., with packet pickup beginning at 6:00 a.m. that day. This will be the full 8.6 mile course from Kersting Court, up the Mount Wilson Trail to Orchard Camp, and back. Join us in donating to the Fletcher Trail Maintenance Fund, which supports our dedicated Trail Maintenance Crew volunteers with the necessary equipment, materials, supplies and tools.  Your donation is greatly appreciated and makes a real difference for this historic trail running event and community! Boots on the Ground for Heroes 5K

The Boots on the Ground for Heroes Memorial 5K Walk/Run will take place following a ceremony honoring the 29 Rhode Islander’s killed post 9/11 in the Global War on Terror.   The course will run through picturesque Fort Adams State Park and begin and end on the parade field inside the historic Fort.  Proceeds from the 5k will support the Memorial and Operation Stand Down Rhode Island, the State’s primary non-profit serving homeless and at-risk veterans.   Registered participants are asked to arrive beginning at 7:30am. The 2025 races will feature 3 timed events: a 10K run, 5K run/walk and a kids ‘fun run’ for children 12 and under as well as 2 non timed events: a 10K Ruck March, 5K Ruck March. Our course is wheelchair friendly and has 3 award divisions for wheeled participants for both the 10K and the 5K courses as we follow the prairie trail through and around Lakeside Park in Fond du Lac.  This annual running event helps raise money for Salute the Troops of Wisconsin and NAMI.  All proceeds stay local and are used to help Wisconsin Veterans and suicide prevention.  Oven Island is our command central. Day of registration and all of the kids’ activities and games are on Oven Island.
