Polo Springs Veterinary Hospital is hosting a VIRTUAL 5K in support of Rabies Free Africa.    Earlier this year, our very own, Dr. McIntosh traveled to Africa to participate firsthand in RFA’s dog and cat vaccination campaigns. During her trip, she joined other veterinary professionals in the field to vaccinate dogs and cats, learn about local public health challenges, and witness the life-saving impact of this program on both people and animals. Her experience brought to life the incredible importance of rabies prevention efforts and strengthened our hospital’s commitment to continuing this partnership. Rabies is a preventable yet deadly disease that still affects thousands of people worldwide, particularly in regions where access to vaccines and education is limited. The statistics underscore just how crucial this work is: An estimated 60,000 people die from rabies each year99% of rabies cases are in Africa and AsiaApproximately 50% of rabies victims are children under the age of 16.

Join us for the 5th Annual Falcons Walk for Wellness on May 22nd! This 5K walk/run brings our community together to promote the importance of both mental and physical health. All funds raised from the event will go directly back to supporting our school’s mental health and wellness initiatives, including suicide prevention programs like Hope Squad. Your participation helps us continue building a supportive, healthy environment for our students. Come walk, run, and make a difference with us! Last year, we hit our goal of $2,235.00! The Middleburgh Sloughter 5k Run/Walk, sponsored by the Middleburgh Rotary Club is being held the evening of Friday, May 22, 2026 at 7PM. Celebrating its 44th Anniversary, the Bayshore Marathon has become a “must run” for runners throughout the Midwest and beyond. Many runners return year after year to enjoy the scenic courses which run along the shores of beautiful Grand Traverse Bay. Hosted by Traverse City Track Club, Bayshore features a 10K, half marathon a full marathon, and a kids 1.2 mile fun run. The number of runners in all three races is limited to ensure a more enjoyable experience. Traverse City Track Club uses proceeds from Bayshore to sponsor many running and health related activities in and around Northwest Michigan.

Join us for a 2K, 5K, or 10K at Rend Lake Dam on May 23rd. The course will follow the scenic bike trail through the spillway south of the dam. The race begins at 8 am.

Bike the wonderful Tunnel Hill State Trail starting in Vienna, Illinois (Routes: 10 miles, 20 miles, and 40 miles). See amazing sights, old railroad trestles, and even a 500+ foot train tunnel you can ride through on the 20 and 40-mile routes. This ride is presented by Revive Vienna. The ride will start at 9:30 AM. Try to arrive an hour early to sign the waiver and get your t-shirt. We will let the 40-mile group start first, then after a few minutes the 20-mile group will start, and then after them, the 10-mile group will start. The trail has two-way traffic - make sure you ride in a straight line to let others pass coming from the opposite direction. This is a ride, not a race. This is not a timed event. The ride is an out-and-back event. For each mileage-based ride, we will have signs telling you where to turn around. There will be two SAG stops: one for the 20-mile rides and another for the 40-mile rides. Please exercise caution at intersections where the road crosses the trail,

The red poppy is a nationally recognized symbol of sacrifice worn by Americans since World War I to honor those who served and died for our country in all wars. It reminds Americans of the sacrifices made by our veterans while protecting our freedoms.  Our American Legion Auxiliary Unit is proud to host this annual 5K Run/Walk. All proceeds go to support veterans and their families.  Registration and the race finish line are located near the historic Onarga American Legion Post 551 building, located on the eastern side of Onarga's Durham Park. Runners and walkers will follow a flat, paved route around the park and through the quaint streets of this small town. Lions Camp Merrick: Located in southern Maryland, Lions Camp Merrick offers non-stop fun for local children who are Deaf, Blind or are Type 1 Diabetic and are between the ages 6-16.   Campers will participate in a “traditional overnight camp” experience supervised by trained and caring counselors.  They also offer Family Diabetic Camp and Sibling Diabetic Camp for type 1 diabetic campers and their family members.

New this year: We are increasing the registration fee to $15 to help cover expenses for the race. Since we are charging a fee this year, note that you will not be expected to bring any food or beverages to share. We will be providing food, water / ice, and Gatorade at the start / finish area. Please bring any additional food or beverages that you anticipate needing during the race for your personal use.The backyard format is based on Lazarus Lake’s Backyard runs. Runners have one hour to complete the 4.167-mile course. Runners must be in the corral at the top of the next hour ready to start the next loop, or they’re out. In addition to being a challenging run, Furbutt's After Dark 12-hour Backyard is also a great way to experience the backyard format. New this year: We are increasing the registration fee to $25 to help cover expenses for the race. Since we are charging a fee this year, note that you will not be expected to bring any food or beverages to share. We will be providing food, water / ice, and Gatorade at the start / finish area. Please bring any additional food or beverages that you anticipate needing during the race for your personal use. The backyard format is based on Lazarus Lake’s Backyard runs. Runners have one hour to complete the 4.167-mile course. Runners must be in the corral at the top of the next hour ready to start the next loop, or they’re out. In addition to being a challenging run, Furbutt's 24-hour Backyard is also a great way to experience the backyard format. Join us for the Dahlgren Trail's annual bike event - the Trailblazer! This friendly, community bike ride begins at the trailhead located at 10431 Bloomsbury Road. Google maps doesn't always show the correct location of the trailhead. 10431 Bloomsbury Road can be located using GPS coordinates: 38.26753N 77.29842W The ride turns around 4 miles later at 9274 Comorn Road and returns to the starting area, for a total of 8 miles. Anyone not wishing to ride this distance can turn around and return to the starting area at any time. To better serve our community's bike riders, the Friends of the Dahlgren Railroad Heritage Trail, a 501c3 non-profit organization, is conducting this event as a fundraiser for the purchase and installation of public bike maintenance stands along the trail. Please consider a donation of $10-$20 along with your event registration. You can also support this effort by ordering a limited edition event shirt through our online store.

Two options this year! Live Race: May 23, 2026 at 8:30 AM. We will hold a live race this year. More up-to-date instructions will be forthcoming closer to race day to make sure everyone is safe. First second and third place awards will be given out for the top three male and females in the race as well as the top male and female in these age divisions: 0-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+. Virtual 5K Run and Walk: You can run/walk or whatever between May 23 and July 30, 2026 for 3.1 mile or 5K and get our t-shirt and finisher medal. The first 100 finishers for either the 5k will receive a finisher medal this year!! Just send in your electronic indication of a finished 5K! T-Shirt guarantee deadline is May 11! Those crazy cows are back for the 19th annual Chick-fil-A 10K/5K along with the Running of the Cows Fun Run! The 2026 event features the scenic Mariners' Museum, Lions Bridge and lots of family fun in Newport News, VA. Join us for a great run and to Eat More Chicken! All 3 races offer fast, all-paved courses.  The 10k and 5k take you through the Mariners' Museum, Lion's Bridge, Riverside Drive and along the James River. This USATF certified course is smooth, easy to follow and perfect for runners or walkers of all levels! Welcome to the M&T Bank Vermont City Marathon Weekend, featuring the M&T Bank Vermont City Marathon & Relay, with 2 Person and 3-5 Person Relay presented by Darn Tough, Vermont, and the M&T Bank Memorial Day Weekend Youth Events! The marathon and relay course is a fast course--mostly flat with some rolling hills and one bigger climb at the midway point of each loop--through Burlington and along Lake Champlain. The M&T Bank Vermont City Marathon & Relay is a community effort, recognizing all those who have had a hand in making the race a success since 1989. The course runs through the best of Burlington, from the Church Street Marketplace to the Burlington Bike Path and offers exceptional views of the Adirondack Mountains. The Salute To The Military Triathlon is an event for everyone from novice to experienced and honors our military personnel and veterans. A Sprint Triathlon and Aquabike race followed by a youth race makes for a great family event and a chance for the youth to take part in the sport of triathlon. Don't forget about our DUATHLON option as well! A huge hit in 2022!!  The DUATHLON will start with a .9 mile run, followed by our full bike and run course.  For your young racers, this is a MUST DO event! A pool swim, and a protected bike and run course make this a great first (or 50th) race for your budding triathlete!

There will be a 5K run/walk that starts and ends at the Hartford Union High School followed by shorter races for children 10 and under. At the field there will also be "touch a truck" event, games, and other activities for kids of all ages. Lunch can also be purchased until noon.  Logan ran/walked many laps at St. Kilian school (21.4 miles to be exact) and what better way to remember Logan than to run/walk for him.This is a great event to honor Logan and also raise money for Children's Wisconsin Love for Logan fund.Thank you!Laurie and family
