Cohocton, NY
Footin’ It For Family is a nonprofit organization made up of family and friends. We first came together in 2012 to form a 5K team in honor of those in our families who had been affected by cancer. As a team, we participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Elmira, NY from 2012-2016. In those five years, our team raised and donated $15,500. In 2017, we formed a committee and decided to host our own 5K race to benefit our local communities. Our first year, we were able to donate $5,500 and this year we raised $35,000 for the second consecutive year! In our first nine years, we have proudly donated over $200,000 to the Ann and Carl Myers Cancer Center in Dansville, NY. We are extremely proud to support an organization which has benefited so many families throughout our local communities.

Miles for Michael 5.12K Run/Walk and Children’s Dash

Charleston, SC
Michael W Leibowitz was always on the move. A fixture in the Charleston running community, he once participated in more than 70 races in a single year! Michael traveled across the globe for a good cause, bringing family and friends with him whenever they obliged. His motto, which he routinely shared accompanied by a photo on every trek, was “If I can do it, so can you.”   Michael was tragically killed at age 71, along with his friend Christina Chung, in an accident in July 2024. His grandchildren, children, family, and friends wish to honor his memory with this annual event. Why 5.12 K? In honor of Michael’s birthday, May 12 - and because he revered being a little different with measurements. All proceeds from this memorial event will be donated to the Michael W Leibowitz Family Fund, to support the charitable causes closest to his heart. Through these efforts, Michael’s generous spirit and dedication to helping others will continue to inspire and uplift those in need.  An engineer, pi

Highball to Thurmond Ultra & Relay – May 17, 2026 Run, ruck, or relay your way through one of the most unforgettable ultra marathons in the Appalachian Mountains. The Highball to Thurmond Ultra & Relay is a point-to-point 50 Mile, 50K, and 50 Mile Relay adventure through the heart of New River Gorge National Park in West Virginia—a bucket-list race for trail runners seeking epic scenery, adventure, and a finish line celebration like no other. Taking place Sunday, May 17, 2026, this race blends rugged singletrack, rocky climbs, and small-town energy with the challenge of racing the clock—and the train—to the finish. The Highball name comes from an early railroad signal meaning “track ahead is clear—proceed at full speed.” That same spirit drives this event, as athletes tackle steep climbs, technical trails, and jaw-dropping overlooks before finishing in historic Thurmond, WV—a ghost town brought to life by the cheers of spectators.
