Why Drown Initiative - Keeping Everyone Safe in the Water Life Skills For Kids Why Drown Initiative—a water safety initiative that nurtures a love for swimming and water safety knowledge in children who might otherwise may not have the opportunity to learn. Why Drown Initiative offers free swim lessons, water safety instruction, and CPR training to youth in our community.  The Why Drown Initiative exists to empower families with water safety education, CPR instruction, trauma awareness, and swim readiness skills. We provide children with life jackets, families with rescue tools, and communities with knowledge that saves lives. Our vision is a community where every family has the confidence, tools, and knowledge to prevent drowning, protect loved ones, and enjoy the water safely. Through education, resources, and collaboration, the Why Drown Initiative strives to create a future with fewer tragedies and stronger, safer families.

Join MSE Racing and Coach Sally Drake for an open water swim session/clinic at beautiful Lake Lou Yaeger in Litchfield, IL.  We will kick off Lake Lou Yaeger Triathlon and packet pickup weekend with an optional swim clinic to help newbies prepare and gain helpful tips for open water swimming and race day strategies. For those with experience, just swim and enjoy! We will have a couple of buoys for use at the clinic session, but not full access to the triathlon swim courses. This event is open to anyone at any level.  We offer a special discounted rate for athletes participating in the Lake Lou Yaeger Triathlon if you bundle and purchase the Open Water Swim Clinic Session when you register for the Lake Lou Yaeger Triathlon. 2026 Walk for Wellness and 5k Fun Run Join us for a Walk for Wellness and 5K Fun Run through Rt. 66 Park at Lake Overholser. Come Run Like It's Recess at this fun filled, inter-generational family event, benefiting ALL CHUH Schools. Please join us this year for our 14th annual running of the Race for Case. Race for Case is a community-oriented event benefiting all students of Case CLC. Profits from the event have helped us build our permanent greenhouse on school grounds and fund a set of digital microscopes, a VR system, and school events. RACE INFO: Join us Saturday, May 16 at 7 am for the Guernsey County Crossroads Marathon. This is a continuation of our Spring Race that has taken place since 2018, but now it has a new name and a new race, the inaugural Crossroads Marathon. This event is meant to showcase historic downtown Cambridge, Ohio and The Great Guernsey Trail and will consist of a marathon, a half-marathon and a 5k distance. This will be Chip timed race with timing services provided by Muskingum Multisports. Starting line will be on Southgate Parkway next to the trailhead located at 134 Southgate Pkwy Cambridge, Ohio.  Proceeds raised at this event will support the Guernsey County Community Development’s (CDC) Great Guernsey Trail and The Cambridge Area Chamber of Commerce. LCC Donut Dash 5K  Saturday, May 16th, 9:00 AM 252 W Main St, Lucas OH 44843 Details: Run 1.5 miles through scenic Lucas, eat as many donuts as you dare, then run 1.5 scenic miles back to the LCC.  Your finish time is reduced 2 minutes for each donut you eat.  What could go wrong? This family friendly event will be a true dedication of Amy Market Jorgensen by combining her love of running and cooking. This event will be used to raise funds to aid others escape a life of domestic violence, that unfortunately took Amy’s life in 2023.    Check in and the start/finish line will be at the amphitheater/pavilion area at Faurot Park. Parking is available at "the bowl" next to the Bradfield Center. The food truck will accept cards, but everything else is cash only. Same day registration is available until the race starts at 9am. Open to the public - do not need to be a participant to visit the food truck or participate in the raffle. May We Grow Old" 5K run/walk to celebrate Older Ohioans Month! All proceeds from this race will be used to serve older adults in Clermont County through services like Transportation, Lifelong Learning, Meals on Wheels, Adult Protective Services, and many more! This day will be a celebration of growing older and gathering in community to support one another. The race will be at Sycamore Park in Batavia, with the 5K portion mostly on trails. There will be a shorter walk (.6 miles) around the park on a paved surface for people of all ages and abilities to participate.

Join us at Silverton's Ficke Park for the Fourth Annual Silverton Color Fun Run & Walk!  What's a color run? Participants are "splashed" with chalk color at color stations along the race course. Then have a blast at the end GLOW FOAM party complete with refreshments and music. “We are Dog friendly. Feel free to bring your furry friend to take part in getting covered in paint with you. Shirts will be available to purchase day of race for your pet. We will have watering stations throughout the race and treats available for your dog. All dogs must be on a leash and a waiver signed for your dog at the bottom of your race application. This is a charity run/walk held in memory of Christopher Mang who passed away in May of 2018. Chris was a longtime participant in the Skagit County Special Olympics Program and more recently volunteered at a number of Northwest Endurance Events running events. Known for his big personality, Chris was driven by a love for the many people in his life and a passion for helping others – He was a friend to everyone he met. He loved music and movie trivia and enjoyed karaoke with friends. The Mang/Glesne family and the Skagit Valley Family YMCA have partnered to establish the Christopher Mang Memorial Fund. Registration fees from the event will be donated to Chris’ Memorial Fund which supports recreational programming and equipment to benefit under-served youth and families, as well as those with special needs in the Skagit Valley.
