4th Annual Run for Reading 5k

Stone Mountain, GA
TREAD Academy is hosting its 4th Annual 5K Run/Walk. Reading is the foundation of education, opportunity, and lifelong success—but many students in Georgia are struggling to reach that foundation. Recent reports show that approximately 62% of Georgia’s third graders are not reading proficiently, a critical milestone that strongly predicts future academic success. Students who are not reading on grade level by third grade are four times more likely to drop out of high school, making early literacy one of the most important issues facing our communities today.  Literacy challenges don’t stop in childhood. Nearly 1 million adults in Georgia have low literacy skills, which affects employment opportunities, economic mobility, and even the ability to support the next generation of learners.  The Run for Reading 5K was created to help change that trajectory. Each year, our community comes together to raise awareness and support literacy initiatives that put books in children’s hands, strengt

12th Annual Keris Kares Royal Run: The Superhero Edition

Newnan, GA
When a child is diagnosed with cancer, everything STOPS. A family’s whole life changes just like that and it does not go back to normal. Bills and stress are at an all-time high and help from others is critical. One in 285 children in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer by the time they are 20 years old. Childhood cancer research and treatments are vastly and consistently underfunded.  Keris, was a proud Kindergarten graduate of Newnan Crossing Elementary School. She was a vibrant and faithful child who bravely battled a rare form of pediatric brain cancer called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) from the age of 4 until her transition at the age of 6.  She made a lasting impression on those that knew her. The name Keris means love and charity.  Our driving motivation is to pay it forward with love and charity and bless other hurting families the same way the community blessed Keris. Proceeds from this event fund our Family Emergency Fund, Keris Kares 4 the Arts program, and ou
