The third race of the Winter Series, the Cham-Pain 5K is held on New Years Day with a start time of 11AM making it a fun way to start your New Year right! This is for a single race sign up. To sign up for the series, please go to the Winter Series Sign Up page. About the Winter Series: An event which began back in 1978, the BCRR Winter Series includes 11 weekly races from December through February (weather permitting). You must register for an annual BCRR membership prior to registering for the entire series. Registration for membership and the Winter Series begins in the fall of each year. You do not need to be a member to participate in single races during the series. Single event registration for non-members is available onsite on race day only. Welcome back to Norris-Penrose Events Center / Bear Creek Park! Jan 1, 1979, the Rescue Run Start/Finish was at Norris-Penrose Events Center. In 1995, we moved the Rescue Run to Palmer Park. In 2021, due to the Covid Pandemic we held a Virtual Rescue Run. For the 2022 event, we took the course back to its roots at Norris-Penrose. But rather than run on the streets as we did in the 80's and 90's, we run on the trails of Bear Creek Park East. LOCATION: Start/Finish Norris-Penrose Events Center 1045 Lower Gold Camp Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80905START TIME: 5K and 10K start together at 10:00 am. If you prefer a more spread out start, or need a few extra minutes, the start will be available for approximately 10 minutes after the group starts. Stanley Edwards had a dream: his dream was to attend college. Unlike many 12-year olds, achieving his dream was complicated by the battle he was fighting against brain cancer. A gifted student and promising athlete, Stanley was diagnosed with a brain tumor at age 12. Due to the location of the tumor, surgery to remove it resulted in the onset of learning disabilities as well as paralysis of his right arm and leg, making school more difficult and forever preventing him from participating in the many sports he loved. Despite these unthinkable obstacles, Stanley persevered toward his dream. Unexpectedly, in 2001 the Edwards family learned that Stanley's tumor had returned. Stanley passed away in January of 2002 at the age of 14. In a tribute to this courageous young man, his family created Stanley's DREAM to continue his legacy. Stanley's DREAM provides college scholarships to graduating seniors and supports childhood brain cancer research by awarding research grants to hospitals. The race is back to being in person this year with a virtual option.

The Resolution Run 5K is a New Year’s Day 5K that is a low key community event with the intent of kicking off a good year of exercise, overall wellness and community support. The Salisbury Rowan Runners and The Forum offer this event as a thank you to our surrounding area walkers and runners. Rowan Helping Ministries is the third partner in this process. All proceeds go to the organization. Canned good and shoe donations are greatly appreciated and will benefit those community members in need. Starting the new year off strong with a walk or your way back into shape.  Looking forward to another night trail run starting at 6PM through the single track mtb trail or the paved Soda lake loop route.  This is a great way to get ready for that ultra you've been training for or just want to change it up from early saturday morning start times.   Single Track MTB trail is TBD with all of the new trails being built, we just can't decide where the race route will take you yet.  Trail is typically rolling with very little roots or debris.   Soda lake loop is our beginner friendly route around 4.5 miles but paved the whole way for those unsure about footing or it being dark.  Grab your buddy and lets go! Head Lamps are recommended but a light source of some kind is mandatory in order to run the race. Working on some overall prizes and a few items to raffle off to anyone with a bib number along with a good meal to eat after you finish.

We will be hosting the 11th Annual GTR Gruber Trail Run on Saturday, January 2, 2027.  This run will have a distance for everyone with a 5 mile run,  10 mile run, or 20 mile run.   The run will be at the Gruber ORV Park. It will consist of a 5+ mile loop. The trail is considered a moderately technical trail.    SHIRT CUT OFF IS 12/10/26. YOU WILL NOT BE GUARANTEED A SHIRT AFTER THIS DATE.    You must have your packet picked up 10 minutes before the start. There will be no late starts. Due to the loop style course we need to stay strictly on time. Please make sure you allow yourself plenty of time to get your packet. KIWANIS Resolution Races are in-person runs at Mountain View Shoreline Park! We’ve both a 5K and 10K event to choose from, with Digital  Chip timing for both.   This year we are again running on Saturday January 3 to give  holiday travelers a chance to participate too. LASAA’s mission is to provide athletic events for our members, comprised of Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department employees and law enforcement personnel, to promote health, fitness, and camaraderie.  The Mug Run series started in 1993. The primary participants were law enforcement personnel with an average of 10 runners.  Since then, the Mug Run series opened its participation to the general public. Today, participation has grown to over 300 runners.   The race provides outside friendly competition and positive interaction between law enforcement and the community.  Race day pricing increases to $40 so make sure to sign up early.   Each runner will receive a T-shirt on race day.

Formerly the ORRC Y2K Run, now Ralph's Run in honor of longtime ORRC member Ralph Brown, this event moves back to its original premise of a changing distance every year. Starting out in 1986 as the 8.6 in '86, it will now be 20.27K in 2027. You get a new PR every year! It also features a 10K run/walk, a 5K run/walk, and a kid's run. Our primary plan is to finish near the Pacific Ocean shoreline, where runners can celebrate by plunging into the ocean after crossing the finish line. If strong winds, surf conditions, or other coastal safety concerns make the ocean finish unfavorable, we will use our alternate finish and plunge location at the South Beach Marina. This keeps the plunge tradition alive while allowing us to make the safest race-day decision for participants, volunteers, and crew. The plunge is optional, but the memory lasts all year. We'll announce the packet pickup details — as soon as it's confirmed. What time does the race start? The 5K starts at 10:00 AM. The Kids Half Mile starts at 9:30. The Kids Half Mile is only $5 — do I still need to register my child? Yes. Registering ahead of time helps us plan for every young runner on race day. Is the course okay for walkers, strollers, or first-timers? Yes — the 5K starts and finishes on the TRHS track, but is mostly on the Gold Line of the Swamp Rabbit Trail...designed for runners and walkers of all abilities. You can transfer your entry to another runner, switch between the 5K and Kids Half Mile, transfer to a different Upstate Race Series event, update your personal details, or manage add-ons and apparel — all without contacting us.
