Great Falls Half, 10K & 5K Saturday, November 21, 2026 · Great Falls Tavern, Potomac, MD Run the C&O Canal towpath along the Potomac, starting and finishing beside Lock 20 at Great Falls Tavern. All three distances head south along the canal past Widewater, Old Angler's Inn and Carderock, then turn for home. The towpath is flat, shaded crushed stone that was built for mules and is perfect for a fast fall race. Late November is the towpath's best season: the crowds are gone, the air is cool, and with the leaves down you get long views of the river. Every runner is tracked live on Geo.Racing, so your people can follow you down the towpath and be at the line when you finish. Collect your medal, then walk the boardwalk to the Great Falls Overlook and watch the Potomac pour into Mather Gorge. Start times: Half marathon at 12:00 PM, 10K at 12:30 PM, 5K at 1:00 PM. Finish line closes at 3:00 PM. Every entry includes: a race shirt, a finisher medal, chip timing and results, aid stations on the towpath, and live GPS tracking. Awards go to the top three men and women at each distance. Good to know: the field is capped under our National Park Service permit, so register early. The 17th annual Chestnut Ridge Trail Race is on Saturday, Nov 21, 2026 Location The race will be run entirely on the camp's single track trails and roads (dirt and gravel) at Chestnut Ridge Camp and Retreat Center in beautiful Efland, NC. The course will feature rolling hills through old hardwood forests. This is a trail run. There is uneven terrain, rocks, roots, horse poo and sometimes mud/water on the trails. There are four race options – 1 mile Fun Run/Walk - perfect for kids, families and people who would enjoy a hike around the lake. 5K Run - great for runners of all ability levels. Walkers are welcome on the 5K run. 8 Mile Run - for those willing to go the distance! Both 5K and 8 mile races will close at 12:00pm. Please, Please no pets or baby strollers in the race. If needed, camp staff will be providing childcare while you run the race. Please, this is a “no headphones” event. This rule is intended to provide a safe and enjoyable trail run for all participants. Running a trail race while wearing headphones means that you can’t hear those who may want to pass safely. Also a good idea for those wanting to pass to give a shout out "on your left/right " just so everyone knows where they are & can safely move out of the way. Please be respectful of these rules for the safety of other runners. Those that sign up for the virtual race will have their shirts mailed to them. Whom does this event benefit? The Soaring Eagles 5K Walk / Run will help raise funds for the Northeastern Pennsylvania Council, Boy Scouts of America's Brian H Swatt Memorial Eagle Scout Scholarship. The Scholarship is awarded annually to two local Eagle Scouts in recognition of their great achievement, and to help them reach even greater heights. The Scholarship is named for Brian Swatt, a Class of 2017 Eagle and model Scout / citizen. Brian was a friend and mentor to so many, and lived the Eagle Scout code with everything he did. McKinney High Varsity Marquettes Inaugural Fun Run Join us for the inaugural McKinney High Varsity Marquettes Fun Run! Come run, walk, race, and have fun while supporting the Marquettes and our community. The 3K Run will begin at 9:30 AM, followed by the 1K Fun Run at 9:45 AM. Awards will begin at 10:00am. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Marquettes’ annual Breast Cancer Awareness campaign. Join the Fort Hunt Elementary School community for the 2026 Fox Trot! Get out in the fresh fall air and walk, run, trot with your buddies from school, your family, and friends from the community. Everyone is welcome--students, teachers, parents, siblings, friends, and neighbors. Sprint, run, jog, walk, or gobble-wobble down this fast point-to-point downhill mile course! **Note that this race is the Saturday before Thanksgiving, and will NOT be held on Thanksgiving morning!** This will be a fun opportunity to lay down a fast mile time... and a great way to burn some calories and get some movement before you dig in to the turkey and mashed potatoes. The course will start on Northview Street and will run on neighborhood streets, finishing on Knadler Street in front of Indian Paintbrush Elementary School. This year's course features an elevation drop of 123 feet in just one mile! The LaVille Jr-Sr High PTO invites you to pull those Ugly Christmas Sweaters out of the back of your closet and come run (or walk) with us! Join other Lancer supporters as we make a 5k Run/Walk starting at the high school football field and make our way around the school, through the neighborhood and down the road, while ending back at Lancer Field! You’ll be greeted at the end with cookies and hot chocolate for all your hard work! 1st, 2nd and 3rd places for both male/female and kids/adults groups will be awarded!

Stronger Together is a community-driven benefit competition that raises funds for local community members in need. This year, we’re supporting Juana Herrera Zetino, a local elementary school student battling medulloblastoma, as well as local students and families in need through the resources and outreach of USD 443’s Student & Family Engagement program. 5K & 10K will kick off at 7:30am, directly after the 10K we will host a kids 1 mile run. Awards will follow immediatly after the mile. Awards to be given to the top 3 male and top 3 female from each division.
