The Mayodan Lions Club will host “Strides for Diabetes Awareness, 5K and 1 mile fun run” to raise funds and awareness in our local community. The concept is simple, run or walk a 5K course and 100% of the proceeds from our fundraising will aid diabetes camp, low boxes, and donations to Rockingham County School nurses to assist diabetic students. Jackie's Run for Life @ Lake Blackshear Resort in Cordele GA!  This is a Clover & Black Bag Event, and raises awareness for the deadliest cancer of all cancers, Lung Cancer.  We are our own 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to helping folks in our area struggling with the disease.  Each participant receives a GREAT long sleeve T-shirt, goody bag, lunch & beverages (beer for 21 & up!!) after the run!!!  Thursday 10/30 Packet Pick up will be at Austins Fire Grill on Old Dawson Road in Albany from 4-6 PM,  Friday Oct 31st @ Cypress Grill from 4-6 PM at Cypress Gill and you can also get your packet on Saturday morning Nov 1st. The course winds into the serene trails of Cupid Falls Park, where the soothing sounds of the waterfall greet you before opening up to scenic pathways along the creek. From there, you’ll pass the Young Harris College athletic fields, where the mountain backdrop reminds you why this is running paradise. November 7, 2026 The Mighty Heros 5K is a race to benefit Mighty Hero Homes an organization dedicated to eliminating Veteran Homelessness, because THEY DESERVE BETTER! The race will be a wonderful run in McDonough, GA, Henry County through the Lake Dow and Lake Dow Estates communities. All proceeds from the race will go directly to Mighty Hero Homes. The Noland Trail 50K & Relay gives runners the opportunity to race the ONLY event run on the beautiful Noland Trail in The Mariners’ Museum Park. The 50K will consist of 6 laps on the trail, and a short section of course before and after each trail lap. Relay teams can be made up of 2-6 team members, and take on the 6 laps together. In between laps runners can hang out together in "Tortuga" and enjoy time with one another. This run is in memory of Bob Gurtler, former mayor of the Plains, chemical engineer(rocket scientist) and life long runner. As a member of many running clubs. He mentored many beginning runner, supported the running community, and advocated for the health and well being of all.  The race starts at 8am at Grace Episcopal Church in the Plains, Va. and proceeds through town and down to Hopewell road. It continues to the halfway point and returns on the same course back to the church where it finish.  All proceeds go to the local food pantry, Peas & Grace.

A History of the MCL/TEL Semper Fi 5K Charity Run for Children The origin of the run was as a fundraiser for the children and families of the Marines and Sailors who had perished in the Marine Barracks Beirut, Lebanon terrorist bombing attack on October 23, 1983. Marine 1stLt Chris Holzworth, having recently reported to the Marine Air Training and Support Group-21 (MATSG-21), Naval Air Station Pensacola, for flight training, presented the idea for the charity run to the CommandingOfficer, Colonel Robert “Bull” Bland, USMC. MATSG-21 adopted the idea and became the first sponsor of the event, initially named The Beirut Relief 10K Run. Colonel Bland assigned 1st Lt Chris Holzworth, who had initiated the idea, as the first Race Director. NAS Pensacola hosted the first run on Armed Forces Day in May 1984 with Brigadier General Joseph Hoar, USMC representing Headquarters Marine Corps and receiving the proceeds of the race. This race is the oldest annual race in Polk County and runs on residential streets and paved running paths through the Lakeland chain of lakes and the historic Lake Morton district, encompassing three lakes during the course. Bob's Vets of Highlands County is excited to announce our first Veteran's Day 5K RUN/WALK (Faith and Freedom 5K) this fall. We have been trying to think of more fun and unique ways to celebrate our veterans and since Highlands County is known for their love of running, we thought 5K would be a great idea. Our event will be held at Highlands Hammock State Park on Saturday November 8th at 8:00 AM. The start/finish location is Lake Wedington Recreation Area just outside of Fayetteville, Arkansas.  Lake Wedington is a US Forest Service Park and offers great amenities and a natural setting to come hang out for the weekend and enjoy some of the best gravel in the Ozarks of Northwest Arkansas.  4 gravel ride distances of 24, 40, 64 and 96 miles. A salute to Vets to kick off Veteran's Week and to raise funds for Alamosa's Veterans Memorial Park. Join us for the 5th Annual Veterans Memorial Park Race. 5k and 10k race options are available. The race will once again start and end at the Alamosa Family Recreation Center, 2222 Old Sanford Rd, Alamosa, CO 81101. The 10k race repeats 5k lap twice. The race route is to be determined and will be posted as soon as it's finalized. Food, drinks, and an awards ceremony will follow the race. Walkers, runners, and strollers are welcome!. Our community is the only city in the nation to follow the old tradition of ringing bells throughout the town in the early morning hours of Veteran’s Day. This race will mimic some of those old traditions to honor our nation's veteran community. We are honored to be part of this event and look forward to the engagement of the families in Loveland. This event benefits Post 2000, which is created a Loveland Colorado Veteran's Assistance program.

Ride the hidden, unridden, and forbidden San Diego to support pancreatic cancer research!  Cycle through scenic areas of San Diego on November 8th to support pancreatic cancer research in the 12th Annual Jim Krause Memorial Charity Cycling Ride the Point. The ride starts and ends at Liberty Station and includes exclusive routes through Point Loma, Ocean Beach, Mission Bay La Jolla, Torrey Pines, and Sorrento Valley. This ride takes participants through historic neighborhoods and past some of the most scenic areas of San Diego, some that are only open once a year for this event.
