Bear Lake Tavern's 2nd Annual 5k Run/Walk for Brain Aneurysm Awareness Join us for a morning for fitness, fun and community all for a great cause. RUN FOR DAD is the American Cancer Society’s premier  community event to raise funds and build awareness about prostate cancer.  Now in its 22nd year, RUN FOR DAD, is changing it's date! Usually taking place every Father’s Day, we have decided to move to September which is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. Join us on September 26, 2026 as this event honors the memory of Frank Simms, event co-founder and all those who lost their battle with prostate cancer.    Over 1,000 people attend this family  fun event which consists of a 5K Run and 2-mile walk.  Small children are invited to take part in the Kids Run For Dad, a series of small races where they are all winners.  In 2023, approximately 228,800 men in the US were diagnosed with prostate cancer and over 27,500 died from the disease. About one man in seven will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime. New Jersey has the third highest incidence per capita of prostate cancer in the US. The 5 Mile International Bridge Run on Day 1 is a RUN.  You are required to maintain a pace of 15 minutes per mile or faster in order to ensure the International Bridge can open back up in the appropriate time.  This is NOT A WALK.  Those who walk the entire course and are struggling to maintain pace may be asked to stop and receive a shuttle from the International Bridge Authority.  There is a free annual walking event over the International Bridge in late June that usually coincides with Engineers Day.  There is a 5K Walk downtown that DOES NOT CROSS THE BRIDGE on Day 2 with its own division.   The 2026 Sault International Festival of Races will take place September 26-27, 2026.  Races will begin at 8:00am on both Saturday (5 Mile Bridge Run) and Sunday (Half Marathon, 5K Run, and 5K Walk).  For those traveling from Canada make sure to note the bridge will have a specific closing time prior to the race (7:45-9:45am).  Give yourself additional time in case of a traffic backup.  The la

This event will be the 10th annual Stop, Drop, and Roll 5K. Always a huge success, 2026 will hopefully be even bigger and better. This year, donations will go towards the Guilford Composite Squadron of Civil Air Patrol. All 5K participants will receive a short-sleeved t-shirt and a finisher surprise! "Peter's Run 5K Race & The Bryant Mile" is hosted by the Rose of Sharon Laymen's League in Bear Grass NC. The 5K race will be for runners that enjoy the spirit of competition. We will recognize the winners in all age groups for both men and women. The date will be September 27, 2025.  It will be professionally managed by Run The East.   The Bryant Mile will be for those that would like to walk in support of the Project. It is named after and in memory of Pastor Bryant Hines who went to be with the Lord in 2017. Pastor loved to take his church members on field trips and always found a way to end those trips with a quick stop at Krispy Kreme. This event will benefit ovarian cancer research through the Mucinous Ovarian Cancer Coalition. We are excited to offer a yearly event to raise funds and awareness about ovarian cancer. There is no screening method to detect ovarian cancer. The signs and symptoms of the disease are often vague. Some of the signs/symptoms include bloating, feeling full quickly, abdominal or pelvic pain, and urinary frequency. All women with ovaries are at risk for this disease. Due to the lingering effects of COVID and the impact of inflation, food banks and pantries around the region are seeing the demand for services drastically increase. We need your support now more than ever.  The Food for Others Tysons 5K & Fun Run on Saturday, September 26th brings together the local community for a morning spent raising awareness around food insecurity here in NOVA.
