Sign up for the 19th annual Dr. Bender 5K Classic! This year's race again has in-person and virtual options for participation. Those who wish to participate in person can do so on the morning of Saturday, July 18th, at Canal Winchester High School. Race morning will consist of our traditionally fast and competitive 5K race, as well as separate Girls and Boys 1 Mile Fun Runs (suggested for ages 12 & under). A virtual 5K event will also be available for those who are not able or choose not to participate in the in-person race. Sandi Paws Rescue is back for a EIGHTH year with their 5K! All proceeds will go to our mission in saving abused and abandoned dogs and cats. Fond du Lac parks are now dog friendly, so make sure to bring your running partner! Register no later than 7/04/2026 to be guaranteed a t-shirt! There will be water dishes set up on the route for your fur friend. If you want to walk/run with a pup, we can have someone set you up with one. All runners and walkers' welcome. Hot Summer Singletrack Trail Race

Mountain bike riders, trail runners and wheelchair athletes will take on the technical dirt trails of Franke Park during the heat of the summer in the Hot Summer Singletrack. Mountain bike riders can take on the six hour challenge or settle for a more reasonable three hour ride on a seven-mile loop of the technical dirt trails of Franke Park.  Wheelchair athletes can choose to follow a challenging course of paved path and gravel road for either three or six hours. Alaska Salmon Runs

Our running event courses traverse the world-famous Copper River delta, a land of mountains, glaciers, and blue water rivers and lakes. For each distance event (except the One Mile), runners meet at race HQ and are driven on shuttle buses to the start line for their race.  The race courses are mostly flat (we're at sea level), and follow the old Copper River and Northwestern Railroad route which led to the Kennicott copper mines. We also offer a post-run Salmon BBQ lunch, get your tickets here! Lunch includes salmon, side dishes, dessert and door prizes. If participants are just doing one race it has to be the 8:00 a.m. race.  Races must be finished in 1 hour to allow for the start of the next race.  Course is on a beautiful wide, smooth, paved trail through two parks and crosses a historical bridge!  Indoor restrooms and a fun, free splash pad and playground for the kiddos located right next to the start/finish.   Everyone who finishes the first race races receives a custom MELT DOWN medal.  Fun HOT, summer themed t-shirts!  Awards for top three male/female and top 3 in age groups in the FIRST race only.  Also award for the top male and female best COMBINED times of all three races.
