Information US Road Running Races US Road Running races are built for runners and walkers who like friendly, low-pressure race days with just enough competition to keep things exciting. Our events are local, welcoming, and easy to jump into, whether you are chasing a PR, collecting another themed medal, working toward series points, or just getting outside with good people. Most races are small enough to feel personal but organized enough to feel official. You can expect a clear course, helpful race staff, finisher medals, results, and a relaxed community feel. Bring your fast shoes, your steady walking pace, your favorite running buddy, or your best “I signed up for this on purpose” smile. We will be glad to see you at the start line. A quick race-day note: because many US Road Running events are small local races, we normally have one or two staff members at each race. EMS is not stationed on site, and water stations are limited to the finish area at the end of each lap and at the race finish. The Mile Light Ice Run starts in downtown Greenville, Maine, and heads out across frozen Moosehead Lake toward the iconic Mile Light before turning south and returning to town. Locals know that enjoying Moosehead Lake doesn’t end with summer. We’re adding this race to our event lineup to share the vast beauty of our home in every season. Think wide-open views, fresh winter air, and running without the sand, salt, and mud of roadside miles. In March, warmer days and cold nights can create a remarkable running surface. The sun softens the winter snowpack, while overnight temperatures freeze it back into a firm, packed surface. Course conditions will depend on the weather, and sections will be groomed as needed to improve the running experience. Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day weekend with a challenge that takes determination and a willingness to keep showing up. Join Do Hard Things for the Shamruck & Run Backyard Ultra, featuring running and weighted rucking divisions in a last-person-standing format. Whether you’re chasing a distance milestone or competing to be the last person on the course, bring your green, gather your support crew, and settle in for a day of doing hard things. How It Works Both divisions begin at 8:00 AM, with a new loop starting at the top of every hour. Participants must finish their division’s loop within that hour and be ready to start again at the next hourly start. Finish early, and the remaining time is yours to rest, eat, change gear, and prepare for another loop. All loops start together at the scheduled time. Finishing early does not allow you to begin your next loop early. If you don’t finish within the hour or aren’t ready for the next start, your race is over. The event continues until one participant remains in each division. There is no preset finishing time. Running Division Runners will complete a 4.167-mile loop every hour. Approximately 100 miles over 24 completed loops. Run, walk, or combine the two. Your goal is to finish before the next hourly start and keep coming back for more. Rucking Division Ruckers will complete a 2.6-mile loop every hour. Approximately 100 kilometers over 24 completed loops. What Is OUTLAST? OUTLAST is a 6-hour trail endurance challenge where runners complete a 5K every hour, on the hour. Each lap must be finished within the hour to stay in the event. If you finish early, you rest until the next round. Miss a lap, and you’re out. Complete all six rounds, and you OUTLAST. This isn't just about speed — it's about pacing, discipline, and mental grit. Whether you're trying to survive all six or win your division, the challenge is the same: show up each hour, push your limits, and stay in it. Each course is trail-based, with natural terrain, elevation, and unpredictable conditions. You’ll have time between rounds to recover, refuel, and refocus — but not much. What You Earn: ​4 laps = “Grit Earned” patch 5 laps = “Survivor” patch 6 laps = Premium “OUTLAST” medal ​​All participants receive a premium OUTLAST Tee. Top male and female with the fastest combined 5K times at each event win the 1st Place OUTLAST award. Finishers are ranked on the world leaderboard—and the fastest runner across all OUTLAST 6-hour events (including the Championship) will be crowned World Champion and take home a cash prize of $1,000. The next lap starts at the top of the next hour, and only those who completed the last lap on time can continue. How is the race timed? Each 5K is timed individually. If you complete all 6, your combined time counts toward the local win and world leaderboard. Are these trail races or road? Every OUTLAST race is on trail terrain — dirt, rocks, roots, and elevation. Sometimes some pavement and gravel. Can I walk? Yes, as long as you finish the 5K within the hour. But some courses are rugged, and time can sneak up on you. Are there aid stations? Yes. There will be water, basic hydration, and snacks at the basecamp/loop start. This is a cupless event — bring your own bottle or hydration system. What should I bring? Trail shoes, hydration system, layers (weather dependent), fuel between laps, and grit. Can I setup a tent? Absolutely, bring your own aid station/tent setup. *NO STAKES ALLOWED Is OUTLAST for beginners? Yes — if you're mentally tough. Welcome to the 2nd annual Hop Forward Aquathlon, presented by French Creek Racing! This event takes place on the first day of daylight savings time on Sunday afternoon. It features a 300m serpentine swim, 5K run, and another 300m serpentine swim. Lawrence Park Swim Club is a 25 meter outdoor pool. The water is typically heated to 82F, so the event will take place rain or shine. NEW THIS YEAR!!! Each serpentine swim starts from the water slide in the diving well! Course: 300m swim, 5K run, 300m swim. We'll send swimmers off seeded fastest to slowest. Generally, we expect less than 50 registrations, so we can maintain a spacing of 10-15 seconds apart between swimmers. Unlike our Frozen Hare multisport series, this is a live timed race, so transitions will be timed and count toward your overall finish time.
