Abrazo 5K Walk & 10K Run This year’s Abrazo 5K Walk and 10K Run embraces the theme “Get Up, Stand Up.” Inspired by Bob Marley’s words, “One love, one heart, let’s get together and feel all right,” we honor his legacy of using music to uplift voices, champion social justice, and spread messages of love, unity, and resilience. The Hoag OC Marathon Running Festival includes four different runs during the first weekend in May annually. The weekend of running begins at the OC Fair and Event Center on Saturday morning with the award winning Hoag Kids Run the OC when nearly 9,000 kids from over 150 Orange County schools participate. The afternoon kicks off with the CELEBRATE OC Festival with local sports teams, craft brews and some of Orange County's iconic brands and live music all day. The Wildcat Extra Mile is a one-mile race for competitive runners, casual walkers, and everyone in between! There will be two race heats so participants can run or walk at their own pace. The Wildcat Extra Mile is a fast, flat USATF-certified one-mile race that starts and finishes in front of Harding Academy. We encourage students, parents, grandparents, friends, and neighbors to come out and go the extra mile with us Saturday morning, May 2, 2026.  100% of the race proceeds will be used to benefit the teachers and students. In the past, these funds have been used to purchase playground equipment, bleachers, and classroom iPads. On Saturday, May 2nd, 2025, the Shipshewana Mayfest Road Run will be taking place as part of Shipshewana's Annual Mayfest celebration.  The event will feature two races designed for runners of all ages and experience levels. We will kick things off at 8:15 a.m. with the 1 Mile Fun Run. The race will begin near 345 North Morton Street at the Wolfe Building. The fun run will be run on the newly paved North Street.  It will be a straight out and back run for the kids.  The kids will finish close to where they started. Medals will be awarded to the top three boys and girls. At 8:30 am, the 5K Shipshewana Road Run begins. The annual Granby Road Race will take place on Saturday, May 2, 2026. One of Connecticut’s oldest and most historic road races, the 10K features a rolling, scenic course that winds along local roads and through the beautiful McLean Game Refuge. A 5K option is also available, with a course that runs partly on the road and partly through Salmon Brook Park. Both races start just south of Granby Middle School on Route 10. The 5K heads south on Route 10 and enters Salmon Brook Park, where runners complete a loop before returning to Route 10 and heading north back to Granby Middle School. The 10K continues south on the west side of Route 10 to Canton Road, where runners turn right and enter the McLean Game Refuge. After exiting the refuge, runners return to the west side of Route 10, continue north, and turn left into the semi-circle driveway in front of Granby Memorial High School, finishing at the high school. Summer trail running series kicking off in May near Millican Reserve.

Chase the Shadow is a free, untimed fun run/walk/roll that is open to participants of all fitness levels.      How does is work? The rules are pretty simple. Just finish the 5k route before The Shadow. Participants will follow a bicycle lead on a route that follows the Fort Wayne Trails network. The route will be clearly and marked, but we won’t have police presence so be sure to follow traffic laws at road crossings! Fun trophies go to the first place male and female finishers and first place place boy and girl (under 13) finishers.   The Shadow launches at 1:00pm.We launch at 1:05PMAwards begin at 2pm.   So put on you best ninja suit, cool tuxedo T-shirt, or simply a black T-shirt. Kern River Conservancy's Charity 6K/11K Run at historic Kernville and Whiskey Flat trail is a community-driven event dedicated to raising funds to support the Kern River Conservancy's mission of keeping the Kern River clean and protected. Runners and outdoor enthusiasts of all levels come together to enjoy a scenic course through the historic Keysville area while contributing to conservation efforts. Proceeds from the race go directly toward trash cleanups, habitat restoration, and public education programs that promote responsible recreation along the Kern River. This event not only raises awareness about environmental stewardship on the Kern River, but also fosters a strong sense of community involvement in preserving one of California’s most cherished natural resources.
