Our Annual Randolph County Young Life 5K is here! Kickstart your morning with a 5k run through downtown Asheboro on Saturday, December 5th, 2026! The Santa Sprint is a racing event that raises money for needy children during Christmas. All money, donations, and gift cards collected are used to purchase gifts, clothes, toys, and much more off of the kids' Christmas Wish Lists. a boy and a girl from the Elementary-, Middle-, and High School levels plus any siblings and any special requests. On average, we fill the Wish Lists of 15-24 less-fortunate children in the area. Your participation and generosity helps us do this. Traditionally a 1-Miler for the first 14 years, we have now added a 5k event. Runners, Walkers, and Chair Athletes may choose one event or the other OR BOTH! Special pricing available to those registering to do both events. ALL participants receive a baggie of treats, a ceramic-fired Christmas ornament and jingle bells for their shoes as well as the option to purchase a race shirt. Participants are encouraged to dress up in the holiday spirit and to stick around for the parade immediately after the awards. US Road Running Races US Road Running races are built for runners and walkers who like friendly, low-pressure race days with just enough competition to keep things exciting. Our events are local, welcoming, and easy to jump into, whether you are chasing a PR, collecting another themed medal, working toward series points, or just getting outside with good people. Most races are small enough to feel personal but organized enough to feel official. You can expect a clear course, helpful race staff, finisher medals, results, and a relaxed community feel. Bring your fast shoes, your steady walking pace, your favorite running buddy, or your best “I signed up for this on purpose” smile. We will be glad to see you at the start line. A quick race-day note: because many US Road Running events are small local races, we normally have one or two staff members at each race. Two-day adult sailing classes are offered most weekends from 9 am to 4 pm at Fiddler's Cove Marina. Classes are open to all eligible MWR patrons and sponsored guests. Minimum age requirement is 16 years or older with a parent or guardian. Class fees per person vary by military affiliation and rank. Dependent fees are calculated at the sponsoring active duty or retiree rate. Pre-registration is required as classes can fill up quickly. Registration includes boat rental, instruction, and textbooks. Students per boat will be kept to the minimum amount possible in order to maximize learning potential and will range from one to four. Number of students per boat is dependent on the boat size, sailing conditions and the skills being developed in the class. On completion of the course, participants receive a Navy Sailing Qualification Card. A valid California Boater Card and/or a course completion certificate is required before attending the first class. This is a free California Safety class required for all boat owners 16 years and older. California Boater Cards and/or course completion certificates will be checked at the start of the first class. A free online course is offered through https://www.boatus.org/california/. Once the course is complete and an application has been filled out through California State Parks then a card will be sent in the mail to your address. A digital card will be emailed at the completion of the course and is a valid representation of a California Boater Card for this course. 1 Mile Walk around LeRoy in memory of Maddie Master. This event is free to all and is followed by food and beverages at the American Legion after the walk. Donations are always accepted either on this site or there will be a donation box at the American Legion the day of the walk. Day of- No check in is needed. Simply meet behind Tompkins Bank in LeRoy located at 29 W. Main by 3pm.

5th Annual FREEZE Your Buns Run 5k at Winterfest in Spencer, NC - 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2026! There will be a 1/2-Mile Fun Dash at 12:30 p.m. before the 5K! Race Location: 460 S. Salisbury Avenue, Spencer, NC 28159 Winterfest: This race will be held in conjunction with and to benefit the Town of Spencer's 5th Annual Winterfest, a German Christmas Marketplace, held on the first weekend in December, Friday night (12/4) from 5 - 9 P.M., Saturday (12/5) 2 - 9 P.M., and Sunday (12/6) from 2 - 7 P.M. Soak up the sights and sounds of Christmas as you meander through our market of sparkling lights, trees, and merry music. Shop for unique gifts and watch as artisans delight you with live demonstrations. Lace up your skates or head over to the Kid’s Corner. View the lighting of the Town Tree as you enjoy delicious food, beer or hot chocolate. Come back again, and again, to explore all festivities in our beautiful Christmas Marketplace. Come participate in the 5K and then join in the community fun and holiday spirit!!! This race is held in honor of Salisbury Rowan Runner's president David Freeze (see below)! 5K Registration Fee: $25 (through December 4) $30 (on December 5 - on-site registration available) Fun Dash Registration Fee: $15 New This Year - Jingle All The Way Costume Contest! - Lace up those running shoes and deck yourself out in your most festive holiday gear. From reindeer to elves, snowmen to Santa Claus, we want to see your most holly jolly outfits on the course! Our panel of merry judges will award prizes to the top 3 most festive costumes. Judging will be based on creativity, holiday spirit, and overall Christmas cheer. Winners will be announce during the post-race celebration on the Winterfest stage! All ages welcome to enter! Awards (5k): Top 3 overall male/female, top masters male/female, and top 3 age division male/female. Awards will be presented at 2 P.M. on the Main Stage. Medals will be given to the top 3 in each of the following divisions for male and female runners: 12 & under, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 & over. Overall winners not eligible for age group awards. Awards will not be mailed. Awards (Fun Run): Top 3 male and female ages 12 and under. Awards will be presented at 2 P.M. on the Main Stage. T-shirts – 5k run/walk participants receive a long sleeve technical T-shirt. Check-In: 11:30 - 12:55 p.m. check-in and race packet pick up; on-site registration available Inclement Weather Policy: In case of inclement weather, the race may be delayed for one hour. We reserve the right to cancel any portion of the race if we determine existing weather conditions pose a safety hazard for the participants.
