Ride to the Sky

Join us for the annual Ride to the Sky, starting from the beautiful campus of John A. Logan College in Carterville, IL. Whether you are a seasoned climber or a weekend warrior, this event offers a distance for everyone through the rolling hills and scenic vistas of Southern Illinois. For 2026, funds from this event will be donated to The Boys and Girls Club of Southern Illinois. This year, there are 3 route options - 12 miles, 30 miles, and 54 miles.  All courses will have aid stations with food and drinks.  Lunch will be served for all participants post-ride. Registration closes on 5/2/2026 at 9:00 a.m. when the ride begins. The start will have a lead-out and courses will be marked.  All riders must be registered online and check-in on day of ride to receive an arm band that must be displayed at all times during the ride. Riders must obey all laws including Illinois rules of the road. Helmets are required. No headphones.

The Samurai Sprint 5K and Dojo Dash Fun Run is a fundraiser held by Budokan Newton Martial Arts and Sensei's Samurai. We are excited to announce our 2nd Annual Samurai Sprint 5K and Dojo Dash Fun Run for charity. We are excited to be hosting this event, again, in Downtown Newton. All proceeds from this event go to fund the newly created William Alden Elliott Memorial Scholarship, in honor of Alden Elliott, who was killed in the line of duty on April 29, 2024. Alden Elliott was a graduate of Newton-Conover High School and a United States Marine. He worked for NC Department of Adult Correction with the Special Operations and Intelligence Unit.  Alden was a Task Force Officer with the U.S. Marshals Service, Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force.
