The Rotary Club of Somerset will host its Fifth Annual Walk-Run-Ride Event on Saturday, May 2, 2026, along the Great Allegheny Passage in Rockwood (Mile 43.8). Participants can choose from a 5K Walk, 5K Run, 10K Run, or 24-mile bike ride while supporting local community projects. The race will begin at 9am and there will be a separate start for each the ride, run, and walk. The race will be out and back style with turn around markers along the trail including support teams. New for 2026, businesses are encouraged to register Workplace Teams, with the top three teams earning the chance to direct a portion of event proceeds to a Somerset County nonprofit of their choice ($300 for first place, $200 for second, and $100 for third). The NAMI Oshkosh 5K is a community event that raises awareness about mental health and suicide prevention and benefits NAMI Oshkosh and its programs. All of their services are free. NAMI's mission is to support, educate, and advocate for all affected by mental illness.  This event provides a place to celebrate and honor those who are living with a mental illness and remember those with mental health conditions who have passed away. Staged out of beautiful Smith Mountain Lake State Park this triathlon classic has clear water, mountain views and fun courses. The swim features a sandy beach start and a crisp, clear lake. The bike and run courses are rolling, but not too challenging. This is a great race if you are just starting out in the sport, or have been racing for 20 years. Smith Mountain Lake is home to numerous lodging options and attractions. The 13.1-mile half marathon course starts at 8:00 am featuring rolling hills and the beautiful Enola Low Grade Rail Trail. Half Marathon finishers will receive a commemorative medal.  The 10K/5K run/walk will have a cannon start at 9:00am/9:05am. A free kids fun run will occur at 9:45am. Refreshments and inflatables will be on hand to round out our family fun morning.

On Saturday May 2, 2026 we will host our second Tri My Way Adaptive Adult Triathlon! This race is designed for neurodivergent adults ages 19+. This is a swim/bike/run event for adults (19+) with developmental disabilities including Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, global delays, etc. ALL abilities welcome, including those that may require the use of flotation devices, adaptive bikes, walkers, power wheelchairs, and other assistive devices. All athletes will be paired with volunteers to encourage, assist and ensure safety.  Registration for athletes and volunteers begins January 31, 2026. Registration is limited to ONLY 40 athletes. Once we reach our limit a wait list will be initiated. Registration through this site requires payment via credit card. You're invited to be a part of the biggest community event in Manassas Park!   The Cougar Literacy Run is a community 5k and kids' fun run (for Manassas Park students) to promote literacy and wellness for our students. The day of the event includes family friendly activities and a Community Expo. Prior to race day, students at our PreK-5 buildings take part in a reading challenge. Once achieved, students receive a free t-shirt and bookmark. Proceeds from the event go to purchasing print and digital resources and experiences to enhance literacy and integrate mathematics, science, and social studies learning at our K-5 campuses. Our mission is to end and prevent child abuse and neglect in Montgomery County through legal services, advocacy, and education. We’re thrilled to announce our third annual MCAP Heroes on the Run 5K and 1-Mile Fun Walk, taking place at Norristown Farm Park on Saturday, May 2, 2026. We’re expecting more than 200 runners and walkers for this family-friendly event, which will feature breakfast, face painting, giveaway music, and more! For the past 22 years, MCAP has been a lifeline for more than 11,600 children impacted by abuse, neglect, and trafficking maintaining a 100% acceptance rate so that every child referred to us receives representation. Each child is paired with a dedicated attorney who ensures their voice is heard in the legal system. The Norwegian Foot March is a historic test of military marching endurance being held since 1915. The objective being to move large numbers of soldiers quickly over long distances and remain combat-ready. Fairchild AFB and the Base Honor Guard are giving military members, retiree's and civilians with base access, an opportunity to test themselves and earn the Foot March badge and certificate.  The course is a 18.64 miles and contestants are required to carry a pack containing 24.25 pounds. Weighted vests or plate carriers are not authorized for official weight, contestants must use a pack. Additionally all military contestants must wear their services combat uniform and boots. Civilians and retiree's are required to wear a uniform similar to a military combat uniform, including long pants and boots. Time cut off's/ requirements can be found bellow. First annual Daufuskie Island Farm Frolic 2026!  This is a 1 mile and 5K fun run/walk that will begin and end at the Daufuskie Community Farm to support our island non-profit. As part of your participation you will receive a run T-shirt and admittance to the afterparty on the farm in addition to enjoying some beautiful Daufuskie Island scenery!
