The 40th annual family event includes a 3K Walk (7:30 am start) and 5K Run (8:00 am start) with Thanksgiving themed door prizes and awards, and it is the sole fundraiser for the Bowling Green Running Club's High School Athletics Program. Any high schools in the following counties are eligible to apply for financial assistance through the Bowling Green Running Club: Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Logan, Metcalfe, Ohio, Simpson, and Warren. BGRC hopes to aid programs that don't have enough funds to adequately outfit their Track / Cross Country clubs with items such as uniforms and equipment needs. Every Thanksgiving morning, runners and walkers from across the country come to Lexington, Kentucky, to take part in the Thoroughbred Classic 5K. Organized by Bluegrass Runners, the Thoroughbred Classic is a family-friendly event that benefits several local charities. We continue to be able to make an amazing amount of donations to local charities, last year was our best year at $85,000! Let's beat that this year! The Tammany Turkey Trot takes to the streets of Covington again on Thanksgiving morning. Ready to experience the history of downtown Covington, or show it off to your visiting family and friends? From there, both 5K and 5 mile runners will make their way through downtown and into the splendor of moss-covered trees that line the streets. Close to St. Paul’s High School runners will head slightly west before turning north.
