The 2-mile event is now officially an untimed fun run/walk and kicks off just ahead of the 10K runners. We will begin the festivities at 7:00am and send off the 2-milers at 7:15am, followed by the 10k runners at 7:30am. This will allow for less congestion throughout the race, at the split, and most importantly at the finish line! Veterans are at 72% higher risk of suicide than those who haven't served.  We need to do our best to help all Veterans get the assistance they need!    Company 2 Heroes (C2H) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit service dog training program that works with Veterans to train their own dog or rescue. There is no charge for our program, it is our duty, honor and privilege to give back to those who have given so much.   Real heroes don't wear capes; they wear dog tags.

Dustin was an accomplished athlete and great student.  He was a champion wrestler while in High School and a captain of the wrestling team.   He was a “Two-Time Wrestler of the Year” for Today’s Sunbeam.  After High School, while attending Wilmington University, Dustin started running.  He competed in many Triathlons and Half Iron Man Events.  Once he completed two years at Wilmington University, where he was on the Dean’s List each semester, he moved to Delray Beach, Florida for a fresh start to find his way in life.  On August 30, 2012 his life was tragically taken from us from a random act of violence.   Dustin made you smile the moment he came into a room.  He loved to make others laugh and was never afraid to laugh at himself.  In his life he was an inspiration to all who knew and loved him.  No matter what he was going through personally, he always had time to make you feel better about any circumstances you may be facing. NEW 10k for 2026! We will be celebrating the new Buckeye Trail section at West Branch State Park. The Buckeye Trail has recently been designated a State Trail by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and is only the third trail to receive this recognition. This new section is the first of more to come!  West Branch State Park is predominantly forested with a mix of deciduous and coniferous trees. The forest is primarily oak-hickory and provides habitats for a diverse array of wildlife, including deer, foxes, raccoons, squirrels, pheasant, and songbirds. The dense canopy provides shade and cool temperatures in the warmer months making it perfect for hiking and running.  Marathoners will make their way around the eastern end of the lake crossing the dam and then continuing to the entrance to the campground before returning back to the beach. We will be hosting the 16th annual “Half Marathon”, 10k, and 5k run/walk in recognition and remembrance of the nineteen brothers and one sister from its ranks who made the ultimate sacrifice since September 11, 2001.  The race course is located in Oklahoma City, OK, at the OKC river trail, to facilitate a larger participant population.  The twenty fallen heroes will be honored individually with recognition beginning at the Starting Line, then at each mile marker along the 13.1-mile course, and finally at the finish line.  A banner will be placed at each of the 15 points highlighting one of the warriors with a photo and a brief bio detailing their lives and sacrifices. *This is not a sanctioned race.*

Runners!  The Few. The Proud.     We are changing up the course and adding new mud to your old mud favorites!! This course will be CHALLENGING. Would you expect anything less from Marines? It consists roughly of 3 miles of off-road running, which entails some obstacles, hills, and of course, mud pits. Wear old clothing and shoes. This off road 5K adventure takes you across scenic trails and fields, obstacles, mud, and water. It is open to individuals and teams. Be prepared for some real clean fun! Showers are  available for those who will need to be cleansed afterwards...Marines will make sure you successfully complete their course! Every participant will receive a Commemorative 2026 Mud Run T-shirt during Packet Pick-up if selected during the registration process.     Ooh-rah!

The Annual Newbern Depot Days 5K Race and Fitness walk is in remembrance of Reverend George Butler and Bart Williams, who began overseeing this race over three decades ago, were dedicated to ensuring the race was held annually, regardless of the number of participants. In their honor, we are continuing this tradition, and all proceeds from the event will benefit the George Butler Memorial Food Pantry and the Loads of Love Laundry ministry of the Newbern Cumberland Presbyterian church. This pantry and laundry ministry, operated by community volunteers, is located at the Newbern Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where Reverend Butler served as pastor and Bart, a devoted member, for over 30 years. We are also asking for support on the day of the race by asking participants to bring canned goods and laundry pods to support the food pantry and laundry ministry in Newbern.
