43rd Annual Milton Optimist Independence Day 10K Run/5K Walk/1 Mile Run

Join us for a race day to kick off the 4th of July holiday in Milton, Wisconsin!  Sponsored by the Milton Optimist Club, you can choose from a 10k run, a 5k walk, or a 1 mile run. The Tunnel to Towers Run & Walk Series was created to honor the heroic life and death of Stephen Siller, a New York City firefighter (FDNY) who lost his life on September 11,2001 after strapping on his gear and running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers. Celebrate the 4th of July with the Firecracker 5K/10K at the Riverside Park in Bryson City, NC. The race is followed by the Freedom Festival. There's fun for the whole family with events all day, and fireworks at night. You can add whitewater rafting, a train ride, or waterfall hikes. The race starts at 7AM sharp.  Course closes at 8:30AM (18:00/mile) The race originated in 1985 as the Intercity 10K. After two years the race was changed to a 5 mile run. For years, the 5 mile run was a little longer than 5 miles. In 1993, the Lake Run club began organizing the event and made the 5 mile course accurate. The race has grown to approximately 500 runners.Discounts: LRC members receive a $3 discount.  Springfield Road Runners and Starved Rock members receive a $1 discount. It's time for Paxton's annual 5K run! Now with electronic signup AND timing! Our race will benefit the Coins for Kids Masonic charity. So come out and run, bring some change for the bucket, and let's have a great race day! We have some exciting changes this year. Including our all electronic signup and timing, we are going to be able to filter out race results by gender and age group, so everyone can see where they stack up! Registration will be $35 for early bird registration before May 1st and $40 after May 1st up until race day, July 4th. Race day registration starts at 7:00 AM at Pells Park in Paxton, with the race starting at 8:00. The cutoff to get a t-shirt will be registration by June 19th.
