On April 24, 2021, William "Bill" Scott Jr., passed away suddenly. At the time of passing, Bill was the President of the Syracuse Teachers Association (STA) representing approximately 3,000 Syracuse City School District staff and 20,000 students. Prior to his presidency, Bill spent 10 years as a school social worker and 5 years as the 4th Vice President of STA. Throughout all the stages of his career, Bill worked tirelessly to advocate for his colleagues, students, and their families and he was a fierce advocate for all! In 2022, we hosted our inaugural Bill Scott Memorial 5K Walk/Run at Burnet Park, a place where Bill frequented for his own running. Through this race, monies have been raised to be put towards a scholarship for a Syracuse City School District senior who planned to major in Social Work or the Human Service Profession. The Tomorrow River Trail Half-Marathon is a race starting in Plover, WI (south of Stevens Point) and ending in Amherst, WI at Central Waters Brewing Co. Over 9 miles of the route will be on the Tomorrow River Trail.  You must register by May 3rd to guarantee your t-shirt size.

The 5K Course begins on Locust Street near the PAS front entrance.  Our amazing course will take you through the beautiful Penn campus on Locust Walk to Penn Park, returning to Penn Alexander School's Locust Street finish line.  For the 5K, we are asking that runners do not bring pets or strollers on the 5K course.  Please plan to be off the course by 9:20 AM to ensure a safe start to the 1-Mile Fun Run. The 1-Mile Fun Run will go to the compass at 37th and Locust and back. The start and finish line will be on Locust Street, by the PAS playground. Strollers for the 1-Mile Fun Run are welcome.  Pets are not permitted on the 1-mile Fun Run course.

The Build-N-Athlete 10K, 5K & Kids Fun Run is more than just a race—it’s an opportunity to empower young athletes and break down financial barriers to youth sports. All proceeds from this event directly support Build-N-Athlete, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing sports equipment to children in need throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania. Our 2nd annual 5K is scheduled for May 31, 2026 at Mack Park here in beautiful Indiana PA! More details will continue to be updated but one thing is for sure - we are going BIGGER and BETTER this year! The West Virginia Cryptid Race Series is a West Virginia–based running series inspired by the state’s legendary cryptids and the unique locations they are said to roam. The Elgin Valley Fox Trot 10 Mile and 5K races will take place in Elgin on May 31, 2026. This will be the 49th consecutive Elgin Valley Fox Trot which makes it one of the longest running and most popular running events in the region. The Motts 5 Miler is the second race of the FXBG Trail series. This trail race begins with a smooth, approachable start along Motts Run Reservoir — giving runners time to settle into their pace and find their rhythm before the course gradually reveals its character. The opening stretch is runnable and forgiving, setting you up for what’s to come. From there, the course features three main climbs that define the day. Each ascent brings its own personality — steady and sustained, short and punchy, and one final grinder that tests your grit. Altogether, runners will tackle 341 feet of total elevation gain, enough to make you work without overwhelming the legs. The descents are flowing and fun, offering opportunities to recover and carry momentum into the next section. This race strikes a perfect balance: approachable yet engaging, challenging but rewarding — a trail experience that keeps you honest while remaining accessible for a wide range of runners.
