Hills from Hell is back!! Think you can conquer the biggest hills Ketchikan has to offer? Come test out your calf strength and claim your bragging rights. Black Canyon Ascent

About the Event Since 1977, the Black Canyon Ascent has been one of the most beloved races in the region and is a flagship event for the San Juan Mountain Runners.  Originally started to celebrate the rugged beauty of Montrose’s "backyard," the Ascent has evolved into an important community fundraiser. This year, proceeds will benefit the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. Pre-Race Runners must park in Montrose at the Black Canyon Boys and Girls Club (1869 E. Main Street, Montrose) for the shuttle bus to the start line.  A post-race shuttle will return you to your car.  Look for a more detailed schedule soon! The Course: A Climb to the Clouds!  The Black Canyon Ascent is a 6-mile point-to-point challenge that demands respect and rewards effort. Starting at an elevation of roughly 6,500 feet, the course gains nearly 2,000 vertical feet over a steady 5-mile climb up Colorado Highway 347. Note the road is not closed, and participants must stay on the left side of the road

Nestled in the heart of the San Juan Mountains in Colorado, our race course takes runners completely around the picturesque Vallecito Reservoir with a special section that runs right across Vallecito Dam. On Saturday, May 16th, 2026, the Delaware Farm Bureau Foundation is hosting the 13th Annual Milk Run/Walk at Ramsey’s Farm in Wilmington, DE. All net proceeds will go to The Ministry of Caring’s “Milk for Children Fund”, the Food Bank of Delaware “Backpack Program”, and the Delaware Farm Bureau Foundation’s efforts to advance agricultural literacy. The Ministry of Caring in Wilmington serves about 500 nutritious meals at no cost to needy and hungry men, women, and children daily, with milk being just one of their offerings at the table. The Food Bank of Delaware’s Backpack Program provides food for at-risk children on the weekends and holidays when school is not in session. We are thrilled to say we have raised over $260,000 in the last 12 years of the event. While our success has set the bar high, we hope to keep that number growing. The Upland Hills School Trail Runs will take place on May 16th, 2026 beginning at 9:30AM. Come join us for our annual 1 Miler, 5K and 10K Trail runs through Upland Hills School Campus. We, at Northeast Michigan Community Mental Health Authority (NeMCMHA), aim to bring awareness to mental health in our four-county catchment area of Alcona, Alpena, Montmorency, and Presque Isle, while also reducing the stigma of mental health.  All events are chip timed and can be completed by anyone!
