Ruck #1 — The Baseline: Establish your starting point. Your first timed 4-mile ruck sets the mark you'll chase throughout the winter. Winter Ruck Series Four events. One winter. One goal: keep moving forward. The Winter Ruck Series is a four-event challenge designed to test your grit, endurance, and consistency through the winter months. The series begins with three 4-mile rucks and finishes with a 12-mile finale, all completed under a 35 lb dry ruck. Each event is timed, giving you the opportunity to compete against the field while also chasing your own best performance. Throughout the series, you'll earn points for your performance, improvement, and participation, with the overall standings building toward the final 12-mile challenge. You don't have to be the fastest rucker to have something to chase. Maybe you're competing for the top of the leaderboard. Maybe you're trying to improve your time each event. Or maybe your goal is simply to show up, carry the weight, and finish what you started. Winter will provide the conditions. We'll provide the course. You provide the grit.

The purpose of the 5K Tamales Run Toy Drive — It’s Back, 2nd Edition is to bring runners, families, businesses and community members together once again in a celebration of health, unity and generosity. This second edition marks the return of a Rio Grande Valley tradition created to demonstrate that every step can make a meaningful difference. Through the collection of new toys and a portion of the proceeds, our goal is to bring gifts and joy to children in our community during the holiday season. We want every participant to do more than cross a finish line—we want every runner to help create a happier Christmas for a child. More than a race, this is an opportunity to run with purpose, strengthen our community and remind everyone that together, we can go much farther.

Santa is back in town! Whether you’re naughty or nice, you don’t want to miss this fun, festive, holiday favorite. We have some changes afoot in 2024! Due to uncertainty about venues and routes due to hurricanes Helene and Milton, we have moved both the half marathon and 10K to start and finish at Seminole City Park in Seminole. The park is a great venue and will provide a fantastic setting for the post-race celebration. We will not be offering alcoholic beverages this year due to park restrictions. We were already considering removing them anyway to make the Holiday Distance Classic a more family-friendly and focused event.
