The Veterans Walk is a time to come together in gratitude, reflection, and connection. This walk brings veterans, first responders, and community partners side by side to honor service, share stories, and remind one another that no one walks alone. It’s a simple act with deep meaning, showing support, strengthening bonds, and creating space for conversation, understanding, and care within our community. Whether you are a veteran, a first responder, or someone who simply wants to show support, all are welcome to join the walk. Friends, families, and neighbors are encouraged to participate. After the walk, stay awhile to visit local vendors, connect with others, and enjoy time together as a community.

Join us for the inaugural NSUF Green & Gold KIDS FUN RUN! Big steps, little feet, sweet impact! Join local non-profit organization HONEY Bags Inc. at 9 AM on Saturday, April 18th for a 5k in Pleasant Valley with your family and friends. Participants can run or walk this 5k (road) course that begins at East Fairmont High School (EFHS). You will start on the EFHS campus then go downhill on Airport Road. You will then turn right at Crosswinds and run out then back to Airport Road past the municipal airport. You will turn left and loop around the Brickside Grille parking lot, then turn right and run Airport Road back to EFHS campus to finish. There will be rewards for the top 3 male and female finishers. Run 5 Feed 5 is a 501c3 organization that hosts events throughout the year including a 5K walk/run in the Spring to fund programs that feed hungry children. Our mission started in 2013 with the hope of raising money and awareness for the dire childhood hunger problem in our communities. Right now in North Carolina, one out of every four children is going hungry, and our goal is to fight that statistic!   Our efforts have expanded greatly over the past several years. We continue to fund the Backpack Pals program through COAT, who sends food home every Friday for local food insecure children. For the past 9 years, we have provided food delivery during the summer and extended breaks to over 500 children locally that would otherwise go hungry. We provide grants to schools in an effort to assist hungry children including assistance with lunch accounts. What better way to celebrate the mother-figure in your life than to run a race in her honor in time for Mother's Day? Proceeds raised from Family First 5k will benefit Carolina Pregnancy Center (CPC), a non-profit organization that supports moms in need in Pitt County.  Participants who register before April 24 will receive a t-shirt, swag bag, and a token of love to give to the mom in their life. Healthy Kids Day is a one day festival that will be held at Empie Park on Saturday, April 18, 2026. We will start the Fun Run at 9:30 a.m. The Fun Run will take participants around Empie Park and is just under 1 mile in length.  This is the 13th annual partnership with the City of Wilmington Parks & Recreation and the YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina to present this fun filled day! This is a free community event that will offer families the opportunity to participate in active play and educational opportunities designed to improve health and wellness. 2026 is our 22nd Anniversary for the Belmont Classic 5K and 1 Mile Family Fun Run/Walk. The Belmont Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association (BCPAAA) has hosted the Annual Belmont Classic 5K and 1 Mile Family Fun Run/Walk since 2004. The Belmont Classic 5K is a road race open to all ages and is digitally timed on a certified course. Whether you walk or run, it is great fun for all who participate. The 5K race can be run in-person only.  ALL runners, should register by April 1st if they desire a race t-shirt.  After April 1st, we will NOT have t-shirts available for registrants. Race packet pickup will be on Thursday, April 16 and Friday, April 17, 12p-6p at the Belmont Police Department and prior to the race on Saturday, April 18 (before 7:45am), but remember NO t-shirts for anyone registering after April 1st.
