Malverne 5K Run-Walk The Malverne 5K run-walk for education is organized by the Malverne Educational and Fitness Foundation (MEFF). The net proceeds of the 5K run go to the MEFF, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization that supports youth programs within the Malverne school district. The packet pickup and day-of-run registration take place at Malverne High School, starting at 7:30 a.m. (school located east of Ocean Ave.). The main event, the 5K run, is preceded by a fun run (200 meters) for children aged 10 and under. The fun run starts at 8:30. The start of the kids run is at the intersection of Wicks Ln and N Cambridge Street. Kids (and their parents) run on Wicks Ln toward the start line of the 5K run at H.T. The Shorefire 25K and 10K take runners on a scenic tour linking the Smith Mountain Lake State Park trail system. The park’s stunning lake views are easy to enjoy thanks to well-maintained doubletrack trails, with open stretches of shoreline and a variety of native forest terrain. Flat, fast sections are balanced with several punchy climbs to keep things interesting. 25K: The 25K course starts and finishes at the Beach Pavilion. The first 0.2 miles heads up the main parking lot and along the road, giving runners space to spread out before turning right at the Playground parking lot and heading into a flat, runnable section of doubletrack trail. Overall, the course is fast and mostly nontechnical, with a little over 1800 feet of elevation gain spread across rolling hills. The biggest challenge may not be the terrain; it’s resisting distraction from the beautiful lake views along the way. JPII Cross Country Meet

RACE DATES: OCTOBER 23-25, 2026. No whiners, wimps, or wusses.  This is a rugged trail running race that was designed to test runners.  The course can go by quickly because of it's picturesque views;  technical climbs and descents; and fun terrain.  But be careful looking at the scenery too long, you might end up face first in a cactus.Please understand this race does not have our usual full spread aid stations and volunteers...on purpose.We have medical staff, but you are required to be able to handle your own needs out on the course.  People asked for a tough race, so Tejas Trails made it happen.  Enjoy! Come run the No Business 100 October 23-24, 2026. This beautiful autumn race treats runners to miles of technical single-track trails and scenic landmarks. The 2026 No Business 100 is also a qualifying race for the 2027 Western States Endurance Race.   The No Business Hundred is a trail endurance race that begins and ends at the Group Camp in Pickett CCC Memorial State Park. The course is a single 100+ mile loop that traverses through the heart of the Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area starting in Tennessee then crossing the state line into Kentucky and back on some of the oldest trails in the southeast. We reverse the direction of the course each year and award a special buckle for runners who complete the course in both directions.   Along the way participants will pass through towering sandstone arches & rockhouses, gaze upon spectacular overlooks & waterfalls, and visit abandoned farms and homesteads including the No Business settlement. For more than 25 years, the annual USARA Adventure Race National Championships have seen some of the best teams from across the nation come together to compete in a non-stop, 30-hour adventure race. Many of these teams have to push the boundaries of human endurance and teamwork just to finish. Winning requires extreme willpower, mastery across disciplines, and sometime a little luck.  When the race ends, teams come together for an evening meal. We announce the national champions, crown the winners of the national points series, and celebrate the amazing adventure racing community.  The 2026 race is limited to teams of four in three divisions:  mixed gender, all-women, all-men.  There is not a separate masters division, though the top masters teams from across all divisions will be recognized. Race check-in will be Thursday, October 22, 2026. The 30-hour race will start Friday morning, October 23, 2026, and end Saturday afternoon, October 24, 2026. Priority registration opens January 1,

We Get To Do This!We're back again for 2023 and can't wait to see you! We will have the original one-loop 10 miler and the three-loop 50k. We have increased registrations to 300, hoping for our biggest year yet. This is a loop trail race with a nice mixture of paved, rail trails, single and double track. The course is great for people looking to explore trail running for the first time with enough challenging parts to test more seasoned runners. There will be three aid stations along the way with water, sports drink, and snacks. All paces are welcome, we love walkers and hikers, too! (Generous 9 hour cut off for 50k)

Whether you’re in it for some friendly competition or would rather stick with a group, this event’s emphasis is on camaraderie, bringing together all paces and styles. The 5k or 1 mile routes start and end at the Albin O. Kuhn Library. The 1 mile route will be leisurely and casually paced (pet and family friendly). The Michigan Army National Guard Officer Candidate School is honored to be hosting its 2nd Annual Norwegian Foot March event at Fort Custer. The length of the march is 18.6 miles, weight required for ruck will be 25 lbs and must be completed in 4.5 hours (varies by gender and age group). Please see further information below. No refunds are offered for this event. This is a pass / fail event. If you do not meet the time standard, you do not earn the badge or certificate. All participants receive a t-shirt. T-shirts and badges will be ordered based upon original registrants.
