This trail run is so special and so different from what you will experience in the city. Run through the hills and knobs of the Beautiful Forkland Community. Your registration includes your ticket to the Forkland Festival pancake breakfast and of course a T shirt. Then plan on spending some time at the festival enjoying the crafts and music. The run starts with a grueling quarter mile uphill trek followed by open meadows and woodland trails and finishing with a downhill run to the finish line. The unique handmade awards will be presented at the pancake breakfast in the shelter behind the Community Center. Once you've experienced this unique trail run you will want to return every year. If you're not into running, enjoy a walk through the countryside with friends. If you are a runner don't be disappointed if your times for this challenging 4K course are closer to what you would expect for a 5K on a more level course. The Run The Ridge 5K, 10K, and 25K Trail Run is a culturally and historically significant event as runners will be traveling some of the same dirt roads and beautiful overlooks that Father of Bluegrass Music, Bill Monroe, and his beloved Uncle Pen did. This will be a fun but challenging event with steep inclines and declines to navigate going up to the top of the Ridge and coming back down. The scenic course winds “high in the hills of ‘ol Kentucky,” as Monroe put it. The race will start and finish at the celebrated Bill Monroe Homeplace and will feature plenty of great bluegrass music, including live bluegrass on the course. Run the Ridge coincides with two other Bill Monroe Foundation events, “Pickin’ on the Porch” and “Camping and Jamming.”  A live bluegrass band will perform free-of-charge Saturday evening on the Homeplace porch.  Runners are encouraged to stay and enjoy the show.  Dinner at 5:00, music at 6:00.  Bluegrass pickers and enthusiasts will be camping throughout the week

Sarcoma Stomp is being held in honor of Bo Arvin.  The mission is to carry on the characteristics which made him loved by so many.  We intend to preserve his memory of kindness, loyalty, humor, respect, faith and courage by bringing awareness to pediatric cancer as well as the underfunded research for treatment and a cure. The Bo Arvin Memorial Foundation will use 50% of our fundraising efforts to benefit the Children's Cancer Therapy Developmental Institute (CCTDI).  It also supports 2 scholarships at Christ Our Rock Lutheran High School.

The Sixth Annual Cape Fear 24 Hour endurance run (previously known as Dia De Los Muertos 24 Hour) will be held on a USATF certified, 0.5918-mile asphalt paved loop. The trail surrounds Lillington's Parks and Recreation baseball fields. Most of the trail is flat, except for one small incline. There is plenty of parking and space to setup a site close to your car. Tents will be allowed during the event, but no open-air fires will be allowed. The restrooms are just a few steps off the course. When it gets dark, the Town of Lillington will turn on the park lights so a headlamp will not be necessary. This course will offer you the opportunity to run as far or as little as you want with maximum support.

The timed off road 5K course winds through a wooded trail and registrants have the option of either running or walking (map of 5K course). All race participants have the option to run/walk with their dog or cat in stroller. Dogs must be leashed. OCTOBER 10, 2026. The Lake Somerville State Park is unique in that it is actually two parks linked up. The trail that links the two parks is a gorgeous path full of natural habitats and wildlife called The Trailway. For this year, we will run the entire race in the Birch Creek Unit. But we are excited about the future as a huge washed out bridge is expected to get re-built that will gain us access from one side of the lake all the way around to the other side to the Nails Creek Unit (over a marathon of trails one way!). The rest of the park’s trails flow through really fun, canopied, rolling terrain right next to the lake! The start/finish is at a sweet spot on the edge of the lake with a huge grass lawn to relax and play on post-race. While every racer will get some cool swag, September 15 is the deadline to get a shirt. During registration, we are collecting $10 for one day of access to the park. On Saturday, October 10, 2026, running enthusiasts from across the Mid-South and beyond are invited to “Mississippi’s Front Porch” to participate in Hernando’s 17th Annual Water Tower 10K & Half Marathon road race. This beloved event highlights the charm of Hernando’s historic districts and one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks, the Hernando Water Tower. Following the successful addition of the Half Marathon distance in 2025, runners will enjoy an extended course that not only tours Hernando’s historic neighborhoods but also showcases the scenic areas surrounding the city. The Cloquet River Run is a fun, family-friendly event organized by Churchill Elementary Partners In Education to promote health and wellness for the students and families of Churchill Elementary. Since 2007, runners and walkers of all ages have enjoyed the 1-mile and 5K races, both starting and ending at Churchill Elementary on USATF-certified courses.
