The AthHalf packs all that Athens has to offer into exciting half marathon and 5K courses! The half marathon course includes a run through Athens’ historic districts, downtown, and the UGA campus, with local Athens bands performing live throughout the course. The 5K course explores downtown Athens and the Boulevard neighborhood with a live band at the start and finish line to help you celebrate your accomplishment. Athens residents come out in force to cheer on and entertain runners along the way, adding to the fun energy of these popular events. The AthHalf is produced annually by the nonprofit organization, AthFest Educates, and race proceeds support our mission of funding high-quality music and arts education programming for local K – 12 youth. The 26th Annual North American Wife Carrying Championship® returns to Sunday River on Saturday, October 10, 2026, as part of our Fall Fest weekend. It’s weird, wild, and wildly entertaining—this one-of-a-kind event draws competitors and spectators from across the globe to see who has what it takes to carry their partner to victory. Teams race on foot through a 278-yard obstacle course that includes log hurdles, a sand trap, and the fan-favorite “Widow Maker” water hazard. The fastest two teams from the qualifying rounds will advance to a final heat to compete for the championship title—and some pretty quirky prizes, including the wife’s weight in beer and five times her weight in cash. Not Married? No Problem.Couples don’t have to be legally married, but teams must consist of one man and one woman, and both must be at least 21 years old on race day, to qualify for the world championship.

The 50th Annual Apple Festival 5k and 1 mile race is a great way to start the Georgia Apple Festival presented by the Ellijay Lions Club.  It is one of the longest running 5K events in Georgia.

The 2026 River Roux Olympic Triathlon will be held on October 10th!   River Roux features a 1.5K swim, 40K bike ride, and a 10K run in historic New Roads. The race has aquabike, duathlon, and relay divisions.  It wraps up with awards and a finish fest in the greenspace across from transition. ​ RKF is a non-profit organization whose mission is to create and sustain active, fit and healthy children, families and communities through programming, advocacy and education, as an effort to fight childhood obesity through multisport events and camp scholarship and grant programs.  RKF also gives back to local schools/clubs in the cities that welcome us there, such as Boy Scouts, parish and city programs, 4-H, local schools, and more.   Entries are limited to 300 competitors.  SWIMThe swim course will be a double loop clockwise swim that begins and ends at the floating dock. Sarcoma Stomp is being held in honor of Bo Arvin.  The mission is to carry on the characteristics which made him loved by so many.  We intend to preserve his memory of kindness, loyalty, humor, respect, faith and courage by bringing awareness to pediatric cancer as well as the underfunded research for treatment and a cure. The Bo Arvin Memorial Foundation will use 50% of our fundraising efforts to benefit the Children's Cancer Therapy Developmental Institute (CCTDI).  It also supports 2 scholarships at Christ Our Rock Lutheran High School.

Family Health Partnership Clinic is proud to present the 26th Annual Care4 Breast Cancer 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, October 18th at Woodstock North High School! The Care4 Breast Cancer 5K celebrates survivors, supports our breast cancer warriors and honors the loved ones we have lost too soon.  It is an inspiring and moving event that makes a huge impact in our community.  The Care4 5K raises critical funds to support Family Health Partnership Clinic in it's mission to provide health care services to the uninsured adults of McHenry County.  Specifically, the funds raised are pledged to breast cancer education, early diagnosis & detection, annual screenings and other women's health programs.  We know that early detection is key to survival and, with your help, we can give everyone the hope and support they need. OUR WHY One of the hardest parts of the CDH journey is the isolation you experience. Meeting up with families who are walking this same path can be so life giving. We want to provide the space and place for you to do just that! Whether you are the parent/family/friend of a child who has survived CDH or a child who has passed from CDH please join us. We will have an afternoon of walking, talking, games and of course a cookout. We will spend the hours from 4pm-6pm connecting and then at 6:30pm we will begin lighting the luminaries and begin the moment of silence as we walk amongst the lighted names of those whose lives were unfairly cut short from this diagnosis. If you cannot attend the walk you can still purchase luminaries for your loved ones. We will be live-streaming the lighting ceremony so that everyone can participate. The Tails & TaTas Breast Cancer Awareness 5k Run/Walk in partnership with Swope Family of Dealerships will be held in a hybrid format allowing both virtual and in-person participation. The start/finish line for the dog-friendly run will begin at the Swope Toyota Dealership and wind through Freeman Lake Park. We have also added a 1-mile fun run for the 12 and under group. As in the past10 years, all funds will be given to the Baptist Health Foundation Hardin.  For the 5k Run - Awards will be given to the overall 1st place finisher male & female runners.  For the 1 mile fun run - Awards will be given for the 1st, 2nd & 3rd place male & female runners. The first donkey race in Idaho! 3, 6 & 9 mile burro race. Walkers and hikers are welcome. You must have your own donkey-no "rentals" will be available. The course will be run as an out and back along the Weiser River Trail following the Weiser River through canyons and open farm land on the old Pacific and Idaho Northern railroad corridor. There is very little elevation change on the course.  What is Burro Racing?  First, let's talk about what a burro is. “Burro” is the Spanish word for donkey. “Pack burro racing is a sport in Colorado, Arizona, California, and New Mexico that is rooted in the various western state's mining histories.[1] In the early days of the mining industry in Colorado, miners would take donkeys (burros in Spanish) through the mountains of Colorado while prospecting. Get ready for The Mammoth Race Glen Rose FALL migration. This multi-distance trail run welcomes families and runners of all skill levels. Enjoy the Hill Country that surrounds this stunning ONE THOUSAND acre ranch. We can't wait to see you out there!  The Mammoth - Glen Rose, TX is a multi-distance trail running event located on the trails High Hope Ranch and Eco-Retreat. Distances offered are 100K, 50K, 25K, 10K, 5K and The Mighty Mammoth 1K FUN RUN. There will be two sections of the course: a 3.5-mile loop and a 7-mile loop. Both loops combined equal a 10.5 mile lap. The event will run from 7 am on Saturday morning until 9 am on Sunday morning. The starting line and Main Race Hub will be the main lodge on the Ranch. There are two aid stations on course: the main lodge at the starting line, and Matazamo ranch house. Aid stations are approximately 3.5 miles apart.

An endurance challenge that traverses the Commonwealth of Massachusetts following the Appalachian Midstate Trail during the peak of Autumn. The idea the for Midstate Massive Ultra Trail (MMUT) was introduced to Rich by TMIRCE co-founder Andy Marx, based on inspiration from observing the Fastest Known Time (FKT) of a self-supported, 23 hour 43 minute traverse of the Midstate Trail by Greg Soutiea, Jake Dissinger and Chad Hornbaker in 2015. The Midstate Massive Ultra Trail 100M, 50M and 30M races will wind through the mountains, fields, roads and rivers of central Massachusetts, with border crossings in New Hampshire and Rhode Island. You have three race options that will test your will to endure as you race, run and climb amidst the height of New England’s autumn. The Midstate Massive Ultra Trail is your doorway to adventure and discovery.

The 2nd Annual P.A.I.L. Remembrance & Awareness Walk will be hosted by Alive In My Heart, Miles’ Mission, Columbus Public Health, and Nationwide Children's Hospital at Genoa Park in Columbus on Saturday morning, October 11, 2025. The event will bring awareness and support around the experience of Pregnancy and Infant Loss (“P.A.I.L.”) and honor and remember all of the babies we miss, babies who are loved beyond measure. Building on a tradition started in 2023 with a P.A.I.L. 5k hosted by Timmy’s Kids, the walk will bring together the Columbus and surrounding communities to support parents grieving the loss of a baby. Check-in will open at 9 am and a brief presentation will begin at 10 am including Keynote Speaker Seneca Bing of Aliyah's Light and music by Heather Evans. Dino Dash is back and bigger than before!  Last year, we proudly raised over $7,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wichita County. This year, we're aiming to double that amount, and we need your help! Join us for the Dino Dash 5K Fun Run on October 11th at SIKES LAKE. Expect to see dinosaurs of all shapes and sizes as you run! Le Grizz is a 50-mile Ultramarathon run just to the west of Montana's Glacier National Park on a gravel road that parallels the North Fork of the Flathead River. Runners will find themselves gaining views of the magnificent Crown of the Continent, made up of Northern Rockies of Southern British Columbia and Glacier Park, and surrounded by the changing colors of the aspen and larch.  The 2026 course is an out-and-back route which will begin and end at the Glacier Institute's Big Creek Outdoor Education Center, following the North Fork Road just beyond Red Meadow Creek, with a brief detour into our Polebridge Mercantile aid station.  The course contains approximately 2,300 feet of elevation gain across the 50 miles – metrics that are true to the traditional elevation profile of Le Grizz from the legacy Spotted Bear course. The road is undulating gravel with occasional gentle inclines – excellent for folks seeking their first ultramarathon finish.

On Saturday, October 10, 2026, Citizens Medical Center will host the10th Annual Citizens Run Against Cancer Half-Marathon and 5K in Victoria, Texas! All proceeds from this event benefit local patients who are battling cancer. As the proud home of the Kathryn O’Connor Regional Cancer Center, Citizens Medical Center cares for a large population of the region’s cancer patients with a comprehensive cancer program, expert physicians, a compassionate, knowledgeable staff, and advanced screening and treatment technology. Since its inception in 2017, more than $150,000 has been raised to benefit local cancer patients through the Citizens Run Against Cancer. The timed off road 5K course winds through a wooded trail and registrants have the option of either running or walking (map of 5K course). All race participants have the option to run/walk with their dog or cat in stroller. Dogs must be leashed.
