Welcome to the 8th Annual Jacob Hershberger Memorial Run! This event will help raise funds to finance the Jacob Hershberger Memorial Scholarships that will be awarded each year to two Bedford High School Students and to help those in the community in financial need after the death of a young one. The race date is Sunday, August 10th.  Registration begins at 9:00 am and the Race will begin at 10:00 am. This will be a walking and running event.  Awards are given to the top 3 female and top 3 male runners in each age group and the top 3 male and top 3 female walkers overall for both courses. The age groups are as follows: 12 and under13-1920-2930-3940-4950-5960 and over. Top overal male and female will receive $100 each.  Note: You must walk if you are signed up for the walk. Join the Crawford County Drug & Alcohol Executive Commission Inc. (CCDAEC) in a fun 5k race and 1-mile walk. This race is designed to raise funds for the annual Recovery Celebration here in Meadville, PA in September, increasing drug overdose awareness (which Drug Overdose Awareness Day is August 31st), and recovery activities brought to you by our agency, the CCDAEC. The “To the Max” Obstacle Challenge is a youth and family 2K course, highlighted by approximately 15 obstacles! It is managed by the Town of Normal Parks and Recreation Department. For ages 5+, we provide a large spectator area. All race participants will receive a t-shirt, participation medal and will be timed. Trophies to top-3 competitors in each competitive age group only.

Come out and better your 5k and brunch game with the Sunrise Social Club at the River Region Runners sponsored (R3) Wildcat Summer Cup in downtown MGM. Every second Sunday this summer at 7AM we’ll host a 5k at a unique location. Come for the race, stay for the BYOB potluck brunch. One payment of $20 buys you a bib for the entire series. That’s three 5ks for $20! The course will be marked and hand timed and very unofficial. Runners will be responsible for keeping their bibs throughout the summer and bringing them to race day. The 5th annual MKTKD 5K event will be held Sunday August 10th at Webster park.  Our last 4 #5KTKD events have raised over $20,000 for The Taekwondo Fund! Race Start Time and Location: Our 18th Annual Rocco Laurie Memorial Staten Island Triathlon/Duathlon on 8/9/26 is one of our biggest events this season, last year bringing near 400 competitors! The race is popular not only because of an expertly designed closed course, but is also an event dedicated to honoring Rocco Laurie, a Vietnam veteran and NYPD officer, who lost his life while serving his fellow New Yorkers in 1972. Larry Ambrosino, chair of the Rocco Laurie Scholarship Fund, came up with the idea for a race in Staten Island to remember his Mariners Harbor roots and friend. This is also a great race for those training for longer events later in the year, such as Jones Beach Ironman 70.3 on 9/26. The Mackinac Island Swim is a FUN and challenging event (not a race). An annual 5K run/walk and kids 1 mile race on the streets of Chelsea, NY located in the town of Wappingers  ( NOT the Chelsea in NYC) to benefit the Chelsea Fire Company, and The Robert VanTassel “Live the Dash” scholarship. Given to 2 Beacon High School Seniors, who show sportsmanship, integrity, and 100% commitment to his/her running goals. In 2023, we changed the name of the race to The Robert Van Tassel Live the Dash 5k. Bobby was the race coordinator from the beginning. He ran the race every year and gave the medals out at the end. He was the Fire District Commissioner, past chief, and held every office over the 40 years he served CFD. He passed on October 20, 2022. Running was his passion. He ran until his very last breath. We continue this race in his honor. “LIVE THE DASH”!!                  The race starts and ends at the fire station on Liberty St. and takes you along the Hudson River. In 1993 the Nasau Police Running Club held a 5K run in memory of Nassau County Police Officer Gary R. Farley who tragically died in the line of duty. PO Farley was the first officer to lose his life in the line of duty since the inception of the Nassau Police Running Club in 1980. Since 1993, the Nassau County Police has tragically lost many additional members who were serving the people they were sworn to protect. The Nassau Police Running Club has vowed to ensure that these officers lives would not be lost in vain and the club is committed to making sure all members and their families know that we will never forget the sacrifice their loved ones have endured. The Nassau County Police Officer Memorial Run is held annually and proceeds from the Nassau Police Officer Memorial Run will be used to present scholarships in the names of our fallen officers. Appleseeds Cross Country is a competitive cross country racing team. Our team is open to kids going into Kindergarten all the way through 12th grade. We compete in several meets throughout the course of the season, which are outlined below. Appleseeds welcomes kids from all schools in the area as well as kids who are homeschooled.  We have 3 age groups: elementary school, middle school, and high school. Elementary athletes will race 1 mile, middle schoolers will race 3k, and high schoolers will race 5k.  The race schedules will differ between age groups. Please make sure you register for the appropriate level based on your child's age. Join us August 5, 12, 19 & 26 for a fun series of shorter midweek trail races. Our goal is to offer a fun, low-key series of races designed to give newer trail runners an opportunity to dip their toes into the trail racing waters, and to offer more experienced trail racers a chance to sharpen their speed on shorter, quicker courses. All races will start at 6:00pm, ranging in distance from 5k to 12k. Results will be tabulated according to chip times, with series points awarded for each race. Top series finishers will earn unique awards. We'll have a wide selection of vintage Gnar race shirts, and all registrants are welcome to their pick to call their own. Holland Blueberry Run is a free and fun event for the community to get together and run. Come join us for a combined running, orienteering, and raffle event! Eight raffle ticket stations will be set-up throughout the park. Runners (and walkers) will have 60 minutes to reach as many of the eight ticket stations as they can, collect raffle tickets, and then return to the start. After collecting tickets, participants will return to the start and use their tickets to bid on over 20 raffle prizes. These include Second Sole gift cards and merchandise, local artist items, craft beer and wine, gift baskets, kids toys, and other cool stuff! Participants will choose their own route using park trail maps to reach the ticket stations. The most efficient route will cover about 5.5 miles. This year's 50th edition of the Saunders 10k will once again be held on the third Thursday in August, (8/20) starting at 6 pm., and will be limited to 500 competitors. In celebration of our 50th Anniversary, a virtual race will also be held for those who are unable to participate in the official live race. The Live race will be run on a modified version of the original course that winds around and through the town of Rye, NH. The start and finish will be on Central Road near the Partners Bank with the finish and parking across the road in the large field near the turn onto Locke Rd. (Use 211 Central Rd. for GPS location) The race will have cash prizes, AND as in year’s past, there will be a limited number of special T-shirts that will need to be won in each of the age groups  The Saunders 10K is endorsed by the New England 65 plus Runners Club Post-race, we will celebrate with the traditional party.

Come join your fellow Birchleggers for the Third Annual bicycle ride on one of the nicest bicycle rail trails in Minnesota on Thursday, August 13, 2026. This well-kept paved trail goes for 28.5 miles from Wayzata to Lester Prairie, Minnesota, past Lake Minnetonka and Lake Waconia. The trail is in Hennepin and Carver counties and goes through the cities of Spring Park, Mound, St. Bonifacius, Mayer, and New Germany. Riders can do the full round trip of 57 miles by parking in Wayzata, or shorter distances of 38 miles by parking in Mound, 29 miles by parking in St. Bonifacius, and even 13 miles by parking in Mayer. See links to parking lots below: The plan would be that the riders doing the shorter distances would join the longer group riders at each location and then ride into Lester Prairie together for lunch at the Central Café, also known as “Mary Kate’s Bitchin Kitchen” for home cooked food!
