Spookasaurus (formerly Kooky Not Spooky), An Awesomesauce Event presented by Run Chattanooga

Chattanooga, TN
What's better than running by yourself? Putting on a costume and running (or walking!) with a bunch of crazy fun people, that's what! Celebrate Halloween with us, running, walking, prancing, parading along the beautiful Tennessee River, with a bunch of the funnest people you've ever met, and of course, tons of candy! The course is basically completely flat, on a paved path that meanders by the Chickamauga Dam, behind the campus of Chattanooga State, and alongside the Tennessee River. We have toilets that flush and sinks with running water and soap. Because fighting with your costume in a port-o-potty sounds like a recipe for disaster. You will pass the start/finish/aid station area multiple times throughout the race. This means you're welcome to leave a drop bag to access your own personal goodies and you can shed layers as you warm up. This is also a good place to reapply sunscreen, address any potential issues such as blisters, etc. The race is super low-key and non-competitive; we'd prefer to race you vs. you, not you vs. anyone else. It's a group run type atmosphere, just with finish times and medals at the end! There is a 4 hour time limit for all distances. Walkers are welcome! Your registration fee includes entry into the race distance of your choosing, race swag, finisher medal for all distances, and our usual aid station setup including Gatorade, water, Gu, and snacks and post-race food. We promise we will keep you full of all the candy you need to pre-game for the big night! As with any other race put on by any other company, registration fees and add-on fees are final and are not refundable or transferable for any reason. Prices are subject to change. The races will go on rain, snow, or shine. Costumes are encouraged, but not mandatory. This is a family event, so please keep your costume kid-friendly! We recommend doing a training run or two in your costume. We're happy to assist with first aid for chafing, but it's a lot easier if you are ready for it, instead of discovering it a couple of miles in! Strollers are welcome, just be responsible in your use of your stroller!

Upper Cumberland Haunted Half Marathon

Cookeville, TN
Join us for the 19th annual Haunted Half Marathon, Relay & 5K October 24th! Runners will enjoy seeing the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains of eastern Tennessee, this Halloween-themed race takes runners on a loop course through the small city of Cookeville, where runners and walkers will start the race on the campus of Tennessee Tech University. From the starting line near the intersection of North Dixie Avenue and B Street on the Tennessee Tech campus, runners head south on what is basically a clockwise loop through the city’s downtown and out into some of the more rural areas just outside town. Runners make their way through mostly city streets and retail shops in the first couple of miles and then head into more residential neighborhoods in the later miles. As mentioned above, the Haunted Half Marathon, Relay & 5K is open to both runners and walkers, provided they can reach the finish line within 3 hours — which means for half-marathon and relay teams they’ll need to maintain a pace of 13.8 minutes per mile or better. The race route will be closed after 3 hours, which means no police or ambulance services will be present on the road route. The finish line will stay open till 10:30 am. This requires a 13.8 minute-per-mile page or faster. Runners who don’t want to cover all 13.1 miles of the race themselves should know the race also features a three-person relay event. The first leg of the race is 4 miles, followed by the second leg (4.7 miles) and the third leg, which is 4.4 miles. If you prefer a 5K run, we have that too! 5K runners will start from the same start line and finish line, as well as the first mile of the half marathon. Entrants must be at least 12 years of age on the day of the race to participate in the half marathon or 10 years of age on the day of the race to participate in the 5k and have a guardian sign the race liability form. Race Weather & Climate Located along the Upper Cumberland Plateau of eastern Tennessee, about 80 miles east of Nashville and roughly 100 miles northwest of Knoxville, Cookeville typically sees mild to moderately warm weather in October, while rainfall totals average just over 3.4 inches for the month, making October the city’s driest month of the year. On race day (Oct. 24), the average low is 42ºF and the average high is 69ºF.

Crozet Trails Crew 5K/10K Trail Run + Family Fun Run

Crozet, VA
The race is a major fundraiser for the Crozet Trails Crew, a grassroots community organization whose mission is to simply connect Crozet and Western Albemarle with trails and greenways. All registered participants will get a race t-shirt and pancakes at the pancake breakfast! Improved timing this year for the 5K and 10K. The 5K course is limited to 250 participants! The race starts in Crozet Park (on festival grounds by pavilions) and continues on the Crozet trail to the east of the Park (rustic trail, so plenty of roots, rocks, and ruts), and finishes back at Crozet Park. Prizes will be awarded for overall male and female: first, second and third (first place male and female get a bridge named in their honor!) The 10K Trail Race is limited to 75 participants! It loops by Lickinghole basin, crossing Lickinghole creek (you might get your feet wet) we're currently fundraising for a 50 foot bridge to connect the trails here. If you can please donate to help with the bridge. The race goes out by Chesterfield Landing and back. The Family Fun Run is a shorter option that still gets you out on the trails. The course starts in Crozet Park and goes by the dog park. After the bridge, turn left on a recent extension of trail (~.75-mile) and back to the park. This section will eventually connect the trail to downtown Crozet. Kids under 7 years old can participate in the Family fun run for free if they are accompanied by a registered participant. Well behaved, leashed dogs are also welcome. Join us for a post race trails fest from 11am - 1pm at the finish. Including pancake breakfast- made from scratch! We'll have live music, Starr Hill beer, Henley's cider, coffee from Yellow Mug. All of the proceeds go to Crozet Trails Crew. On-site registration and packet pick-up takes place at Crozet Park on race day at the Crozet Park Pavillion from starting at 9am until 9:45am. There will also be packet pick-up Thursday, October 22 at Starr Hill in Crozet from 6:30- 830pm. IF YOU WANT TO SWITCH RACES please come to Thursday packet pickup to let us know.

Frick & Frack 5k

Virginia Beach, VA
Grab your friends, family, survivors, previvors, and caretakers and join us for a beautiful morning of love, prayer, fellowship, and fun! Oh...and a 5k run/walk + kid's dash! This is a FUN run/walk and not a timed event. The Frick & Frack Story: In 2017, we held our 1st Annual Frick & Frack 5K benefiting two wonderful sisters in our Hampton Roads community named Pattie and Jackie... affectionately know as Frick & Frack. They were both diagnosed with breast cancer in the same year and we were able to come together and help them in a beautiful way. The story doesn't end there. A few months after that race, Pattie’s daughter Lyndsey was also diagnosed with her second round of Breast Cancer. Yes...you read that right. Within less than a year, the same family had been struck 3 times! All 3 women are SURVIVORS today, and along with their framily and community, these women have set out on a crusade to take care of others, just as they were cared for during their battle. They have appropriately adopted the slogan...Her fight is our fight. All proceeds from this event stay local and will benefit the Free Range Sisters Foundation. This foundation is set-up to assist our local female warriors with a variety of needs to include: medical connections and assistance, transportation, and our beloved comfort baskets for those healing from surgery and/or chemotherapy/radiation treatment. It has been our privilege to also walk alongside each of our warriors and help them with other needs such as general moral support, household care and financial assistance. Until there is a cure for these cancers, we will always have someone in need! By supporting this event, you are directly enabling our community to step up and fight together. Her fight is OUR fight! CHEERS! We hope you will join us for the Frick & Frack FRAMILY race!
