Run the Race...Stop the Stigma! Summer Smith was a loving mother of three boys who lost her 12-year battle with addiction on January 9th, 2015. Summer's mom Kristin has established this race in her memory. Summer desired to live a life in recovery and fought hard to overcome the disease of addiction. The 10th Annual Summer Smith 5k Addiction Awareness Memorial Run is an event that will be held on October 24th, 2026, at Guilderland High School in Guilderland Center, New York. Start time of the 5k will be 10 am. Both runners and walkers are welcome. This is a child/stroller friendly/dog friendly event. The race will be preceded by a Memory Ceremony at 9:00 am. Fundraising for the construction efforts by Border Buddies Ministries, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization to continue rebuilding classrooms in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Border Buddies ministries is led by the missionaries in Honduras, Mike and Glenda Miller, who were Horseheads locals and still have family in the Big Flats area. Border buddies is all about bringing community together and the 5K/10K is a great way to have a fun family event while raising funds to the organization. Border Buddies also provides medical and dental care to communities through volunteer teams. This event is officially timed by Falcon Race Timing and the organization that the fundraiser is for is also a charity organization.

Council Member Shahana Hanif and the PTAs of Brooklyn’s public schools are coming together for the 17th annual PTA 5K+ run/walk/stroll/toddle/scoot in Prospect Park. The race will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at 10 AM. Bib pickup and pre-race activities will begin at 9:00 AM. For over a decade now, the PTA Fun Run has been a community day in Prospect Park for local public school communities. Parents, students, and educators have showed up to build community have collectively raised funds for our neediest schools (Net proceeds from your registration fees will go to support PTAs at high need schools). The Fun Run will be a 3.3 mile loop, starting and finishing on the main park drive just outside the LeFrak Center. The run will start at 10 AM. Knights and princesses welcome! Seton Catholic School will host the Knight’s Joust Fun Run on Saturday, Oct. 24, at the U.S. Oval in Plattsburgh, bringing runners, families and community members together to raise funds for Seton Catholic School and The Foundation of CVPH’s Kids’ Closet. The event will feature a one-mile walk/run beginning at 8:45 a.m., followed by a 5K race at 9 a.m. Registration is $15 for the one-mile and $25 for the 5K. Participants may register in advance or on the day of the event, with proceeds benefiting both Seton Catholic School and the Kids’ Closet at CVPH. The Knight’s Joust Fun Run brings the two organizations together around a shared commitment to the North Country community. Funds raised for Seton Catholic will support the school and its students. The Foundation of CVPH’s portion of the proceeds will support its Kids’ Closet, which provides new comfort and activity items for children in the Emergency Department, including young patients, visitors and children visiting a loved one. This 5k/Fun run will bring students, families, staff and our community together for a fun-filled event that promotes school spirit, healthy activity and community involvement. This event fundraiser will raise money for the Southern Alamance Middle School Athletic Booster Club general fund, to help with school sport needs or improvements such as equipment and uniforms, as well as end of season sports awards. We would also like to give back to the community by holding a food drive to help fight food insecurity, partnering with The Source Of Alamance County. Let's give BIG! The "West Hill's 5K of Wonder", presented by the West Hill Neighborhood Organization, takes place on Saturday, October 24th, 2026. - The West Hill Neighborhood Association is a volunteer led community organization providing free programming to residents in Akron's West Hill neighborhood. - Race registration includes a participant shirt. (Shirts only guaranteed through October 17th) - The 5K begins at 9:00am and takes participants through neighborhoods and a section of the Glendale cemetery with varied elevations throughout the course.

Rachel & Friends is a non-profit organization that works with adults with developmental disabilities. In addition to day programming, we work with individuals in the community that also have developmental challenges. The purpose of this race is to empower the community to see the amazing individuals around us with Down Syndrome, Autism or other challenges and embrace the beauty in all of us. The event offers two race distances, 5k or 1 mile. Choose whatever is best for you! There is also a free fun run for the kids before the start of the 5k and 1-Mile races. All kids will receive a ribbon when they finish the fun run. Please note: The online registration deadline, to receive a shirt at the 5k is October 10, 2026. Those who register online, or in person, after this deadline, may not receive a shirt at the 5k. In-person registration will be available on the day of the event at 8:00am. Hi, my name is Nathan Chamot, I’m 18 years old, and I’m the organizer of the second annual Run for Tourette 5K, a charity run and walk that raises money for the Tourette Association of America! I founded the Run for Tourette 5K because I have Tourette Syndrome, and I don’t want others to face the same barriers I did growing up with the disorder. In 2025, the 5K set a new national fundraising record for events raising money for Tourette Syndrome—the event raised over $33,000, and I hope to surpass that this year! With your help, we can fund the Tourette Association of America’s critical efforts to support the Tourette community through research, spreading awareness, and educating professionals about Tourette’s.
