The Mighty Gobbler is a Thanksgiving tradition! A 5k race and 1 mile fun run/walk through a quiet Troy neighborhood. Each year, the Newport County YMCA hosts the annual Pie Run on Thanksgiving Day. This USATF sanctioned race, originally founded in 1985 by the Newport Running Club, collects food donations for the MLK Community Center as well as raises necessary funds for the Y's Community Support Campaign. Typically, this beloved annual event draws over 2,000 walkers and runners who gather at the Newport County YMCA parking lot. This year, the Y is again offering a LIVE/IN-PERSON or VIRTUAL option, opening the event so that ALL members of our Y community can participate in a way that works for them!  “Every year, we are so grateful to all our Pie Run participants as well as volunteers. The Woodbury Wobble 5K is a community event to encourage movement before the feast and a portion of our profits go to stock the shelves of our local food bank.  With your registration you will receive a race bib, gun timed race, fully marked course, post-race snacks, plus a swag item. Only the first 100 registered runners get the branded knit hat. (As of October 22, 2025 the first 100 hats are claimed. You can now purchase a hat with your race registration.) There will also be the turkey scavenger hunt along the course that kids can complete for a small prize. Kids ages 0 - 12 who would like a time, bib, and swag item will be $12, They will NOT get a hat. If your child is riding in the stroller or along for the run for fun they are free to run with you without charge. The Lake of the Ozarks Turkey Trot 5K is a family tradition held on Thanksgiving morning at Camdenton High School. 2026 will be the 17th year for this event. It's attended by many families who want to kick their holiday off with some exercise, friendly competition and camaraderie. This year we have a one mile fun run for kids and adults who don't want to do the full 5k course. The fun run begins at 7:45, the 5k at 8:30. Walk-up registration will open at 7:00am. Give your metabolism a boost over Thanksgiving Reconnect Weekend with our Turkey Vulture Trot 5k and 1-Mile Fun Run! The 5K will begin at 9am on Thursday, November 27 on our Mountain Center Road course. The 1-Mile Fun Run will begin at 10am. A portion of the proceeds will benefit North Sky Raptor Sanctuary .   A commemorative medal will be awarded to the top 3 men and women in each age group for the 5K race. The Williamstown Turkey Trot 5K takes place at the Autumn Lake Winery. Start your Thanksgiving by burning off some calories to make up for what you will be eating later in the day!  We are very excited to host the Williamstown Turkey Trot 5K at the Autumn Lake Winery.  Awards will be given to the top 3 overall female and male finishers.  Kids 14 and under are free with entry of an adult.  Bring the family and have a fun morning together.  This is a trail run consisting of hard pack dirt trails, grassy areas, and sand.  This is a rain or shine event.  If there is rain prior to or on race day the course may include muddy areas so plan accordingly.   The race will be produced and timed by JLD Event Management and Timing (JLDEvents.com) and results will be available online. MedStar Health's 22nd Annual CHS XC Turkey Trot is a time honored Catonsville tradition. A fun celebration of health, wellness, and family with a rich sense of community, our cross country style 1 mile family fun run (8:10am) and 5k (8:30am) offers something for everyone.  Both races are chip timed. A prediction run is entirely different from other races that you’ve run in the past. Rather than finishing first or running the fastest, the object of a prediction run is to finish as close to a certain time as possible. In the case of the Howard County Striders prediction runs, the goal is to finish as close to 11:00am as possible. One way the Striders prediction runs differ from many other runs is that you get to start whenever you want – whoever finishes closest to 11:00am wins. Oh, and one important thing, you CANNOT use any sort of timing device. Also, no baby strollers, iPods, headphones or animals. The Murphy Scholarship is Leesville Road High School's first endowed scholarship. Founded in 2011 in memory of Leesville's first principal, Richard J. Murphy, it seeks to inspire incoming students by recognizing the best of our graduating senior class. The major fundraiser for the scholarship is the Leesville Community Turkey Trot, presented by Murray Moyer. Our USATF-certified 5K race takes place on local neighborhood roads and serves as both a great volunteer opportunity and an informal reunion for Leesville alumni and families. Founded in 1907, the 119th New Orleans Athletic Club's Turkey Day Race stands as the 5th oldest continuous race in the United States. The race begins and ends at Tad Gormley Stadium in New Orleans City Park, featuring a 5-Mile and a Kids' Half-Mile run/walk. It has become a cherished holiday tradition for families from across the nation, with several generations returning annually to participate.
