Get your body moving with this Thanksgiving morning tradition, fire up your metabolism for the upcoming feasts, and help support the Foundation Dinners as they continue to serve the community on Lancaster's west side, a tradition they have faithfully maintained for over 30 years. The Foundation Dinners serves over 2500 meals a month enlisting the aid of over 200 volunteers from Lancaster and Fairfield County churches, organizations, businesses and industries. The Foundation Dinners provides an opportunity for these volunteers to contribute to the needs of many poverty-stricken families and individuals in our community, as well as becoming part of the broadcast system which informs the local area of the presence of hunger and homelessness amongst us. A prediction run is entirely different from other races that you’ve run in the past. Rather than finishing first or running the fastest, the object of a prediction run is to finish as close to a certain time as possible. In the case of the Howard County Striders prediction runs, the goal is to finish as close to 11:00am as possible. One way the Striders prediction runs differ from many other runs is that you get to start whenever you want – whoever finishes closest to 11:00am wins. Oh, and one important thing, you CANNOT use any sort of timing device. Also, no baby strollers, iPods, headphones or animals. MedStar Health's 22nd Annual CHS XC Turkey Trot is a time honored Catonsville tradition. Founded in 1907, the 119th New Orleans Athletic Club's Turkey Day Race stands as the 5th oldest continuous race in the United States. The race begins and ends at Tad Gormley Stadium in New Orleans City Park, featuring a 5-Mile and a Kids' Half-Mile run/walk. It has become a cherished holiday tradition for families from across the nation, with several generations returning annually to participate. The Murphy Scholarship is Leesville Road High School's first endowed scholarship. Founded in 2011 in memory of Leesville's first principal, Richard J. Murphy, it seeks to inspire incoming students by recognizing the best of our graduating senior class. The major fundraiser for the scholarship is the Leesville Community Turkey Trot, presented by Murray Moyer. We are back on the Boone Greenway Trail for the 16th Annual High Country Turkey Trot! Choose from a 5K or 10K timed race or an untimed Fun Run/Walk. Taking place on Thanksgiving morning, The High Country Turkey Trot is open to competitive runners, casual joggers, walkers, and fun runners. Please join us for our 9th Annual Silverdale Rotary Turkey Trot! For the fifth straight year we're going free-range with our wild Turkey Trot at Newberry Hill Heritage Park. Give NCW Turkey Trot is a great way to start your holiday season! The event features timed 5K and 10K races and an untimed, free run for kids.
