Race Against Hunger & Homelessness In Laurel, MD Together this Thanksgiving, we can #FightHunger, #FightHomelessness, and #FosterHope. Since 2004, this Thanksgiving morning tradition has drawn participants from across South Central Maryland and beyond. A prediction run is entirely different from other races that you’ve run in the past. Rather than finishing first or running the fastest, the object of a prediction run is to finish as close to a certain time as possible. In the case of the Howard County Striders prediction runs, the goal is to finish as close to 11:00am as possible. One way the Striders prediction runs differ from many other runs is that you get to start whenever you want – whoever finishes closest to 11:00am wins. Oh, and one important thing, you CANNOT use any sort of timing device. Also, no baby strollers, iPods, headphones or animals. MedStar Health's 22nd Annual CHS XC Turkey Trot is a time honored Catonsville tradition. A fun celebration of health, wellness, and family with a rich sense of community, our cross country style 1 mile family fun run (8:10am) and 5k (8:30am) offers something for everyone.  Both races are chip timed. The Running of the Turkeys is everyone's favorite Thanksgiving Day tradition!! Founded in 1907, the 119th New Orleans Athletic Club's Turkey Day Race stands as the 5th oldest continuous race in the United States. The race begins and ends at Tad Gormley Stadium in New Orleans City Park, featuring a 5-Mile and a Kids' Half-Mile run/walk. It has become a cherished holiday tradition for families from across the nation, with several generations returning annually to participate. The Murphy Scholarship is Leesville Road High School's first endowed scholarship. Founded in 2011 in memory of Leesville's first principal, Richard J. Murphy, it seeks to inspire incoming students by recognizing the best of our graduating senior class. The major fundraiser for the scholarship is the Leesville Community Turkey Trot, presented by Murray Moyer. Our USATF-certified 5K race takes place on local neighborhood roads and serves as both a great volunteer opportunity and an informal reunion for Leesville alumni and families.
