Come join Emmet County Parks and Recreation for a 5K run and walk for all ages to benefit our local parks and facilities. Wear red, white, and blue in celebration of Independence Day! This will take place at Camp Petosega in Alanson, Michigan on the cross country trail. We will park and meet at air hanger along entrance drive to the right, if you see the camp office you have gone too far. Registration prior to race day is $20, race day registration is $30, payment on race day can be made on site. Join us for the 45th Annual St. Urho 5k walk/run and 10k run! This event is put on by the UNC Cross Country Booster Club and all proceeds benefit the UNC cross-country athletes. The 5k starts in downtown Menahga in front of The Cotty and finishes at the St. Urho statue. The 10k starts by the ball fields, runs around Stocking Lake (including a trail component) and finishes at the St. Urho statue. There is also a 5k stroller division for those who have an extra "running buddy." There are many prizes donated by area businesses including the grand prize of a Garmin watch that will be randomly drawn for all participants that stick around after the race.  Other prizes include six $100 gift certificates to the Endurunce Shop in Brainerd/St. Cloud and TC Running Company, local gift certificates, and donated swag from local businesses.  Well over $1200 worth of prizes donated the last year. The Going Bananas Run is the first-of-its-kind fun run where your speed can raise money for charity. Each racer receives their very own banana suit to run in as you make your way through an exciting Twin Cities course. You’d better split though, because after 2 minutes we release “The Gorilla.” “The Gorilla” is our inside man; boy, does he love chasing bananas. What Is OUTLAST? OUTLAST is a 6-hour trail endurance challenge where runners complete a 5K every hour, on the hour. Each lap must be finished within the hour to stay in the event. If you finish early, you rest until the next round. Miss a lap, and you’re out. Complete all six rounds, and you OUTLAST. This isn't just about speed — it's about pacing, discipline, and mental grit. Whether you're trying to survive all six or win your division, the challenge is the same: show up each hour, push your limits, and stay in it. Each course is trail-based, with natural terrain, elevation, and unpredictable conditions. This beginner-friendly four-mile route winds in and around the vines and property at Fables and Feathers, and the epic finish line of sipping and socializing awaits you! Rather than traditional timing for this event, Wine 4 Wildlife 4-miler overall male and female winners will be crowned based on closest to their PREDICTED FINISH TIME. That's right, all participants who wish to be eligible for the prediction run prizes will leave all watches/phones/devices at the start line and wind through the vineyard without any technology. Participation in the prediction run challenge is optional, but you must denote prior to race day whether or not you wish to participate in the challenge. There are no sweeping alpine vistas or pristine singletrack here. This is an urban scavenger hunt through the heart of Clark County. Your mission is simple but soul-crushing: Visit as many 7-Eleven locations in the county as possible within a 24-hour window. The Rules of the Road • The Clock: You have 24 hours. Midway between Baltimore and Philadelphia, this race is staged out of beautiful Perryville Community Park in Perryville, Maryland which is truly a hidden gem, a diamond in the rough. Nestled on forested bluffs overlooking the top of the Chesapeake Bay this park makes for the epicenter of a great race. The swim takes place in the Chesapeake Bay and features an in water start off the dock. The Sprint bike course is a rolling out and back course while the Olympic bike course is technical with a mix of suburbia, rolling farm country and a fast, flat drag strip along River Road. The run course is mostly flat and winds its way along the Chesapeake Bay on sidewalks and back roads. This event is not to be missed and Cecil County is a great area to explore.
