After completing his 48th XC season at Bloomington North and beginning his 48th track season, coach Charlie Warthan will be retiring from coaching.  Coach Warthan started as head boys xc coach in the fall of 1978.  Since that time, he has amassed some amazing stats. 26 XC Sectional titles 20 XC Regional titles 14 XC Semi-State titles (discontinued in 2023) 2 XC State titles (1980 & 2024) 23 Track Sectional titles 18 Track Regional titles *X number of individual and relay state champions in track...   Fittingly, we are having a 5k and banquet at the conclusion of his track season to celebrate this man's amazing career.  We are calling for all former runners, coaches, parents, and administrators that have been a part of this journey to join us on June 7th to show our appreciation to coach.  Note:  This is a surprise for coach so please keep this quiet as we pull this all together.   Registration cost pays for your shirt and commemorative finisher medal.  Donations will go toward

Harford County Running Club, the Harford County running affiliate of the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) conducts the Bel Air Town Run (BATR) 5K as a community event to promote health, fitness and running. The Max Pound Foundation is hosting a 5K Race/Walk and Fun Run to raise money for pediatric brain cancer. This is a community 5K and Fun Run for friends, family, students, and neighbors of all ages. The Celebrate! West Hartford FUNd RUNS are the most family-friendly fitness runs in the Greater Hartford region. The Menlo Park Kids Triathlon (“MPKT”) is a triathlon specifically for kids ages from 4 to 17 years old. A triathlon is a race that consists of a combination of three sports: swimming, cycling, and running. The kids start the race with swimming at the Burgess Pool in waves (triathlon speak for groups) of 20 to 25  kids. From the swim, they run to the transition area to put on their helmets, shoes, and anything else they need. They then mount their bikes and head out to the bike course. When the kids are done with the bike, they head back to transition to put their bike away, and head to run round Burgess Park. They finish the race in the park by crossing through the finishing chute!

I will be holding the fourth annual, Dashing for Donuts 5K and kids 1 mile fun run on June 7th! We will be running the same course as last year. It will be held on the El Dorado Trail from the new bridge at Missouri Flat Road. It is an out and back race. Once you're finished, you get a donut and a medal. The 5K race will happen first and then we will have the kids 1 mile race.   All proceeds from the race will go to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, (NOCC) -Team Teal. I am a 16 year survivor of ovarian cancer and a team member of NOCC - Team Teal. Held annually on the first Sunday in June, this year’s 20th annual Reston Sprint Triathlon takes place on Sunday, June 7, 2026, beginning with a 400-meter swim in Lake Newport pool, followed by a 12-mile bike ride on the streets of Reston, and a 5K run on area pathways. SAVE THE DATE!The 25th Annual Worcester Firefighters’ 6k is set for Sunday, June 7th, 2026. After the Worcester Cold Storage Fire on Dec 3, 1999, this road race was created as a living memorial to those men known as the “Worcester Six” – Paul Brotherton, Jerry Lucey, Tim Jackson, Tom Spencer, Jay Lyons and Joe McGuirk. Sadly, the Worcester Fire Department has had three other members die in the Line of Duty since 1999. Jon Davies in 2011, Chris Roy in 2018 and Jason Menard in 2019. This race continues on to remember their memories and dedication to the City of Worcester. The Worcester Firefighter’s 6k Road Race is more than just a road race – it’s a block party atmosphere with a BBQ inside Institute Park. WHY WE RUN!Susan McDaniel, an avid athlete, actress, and equestrian, was a student at Lovelane throughout her two-year battle with cancer. Susan showed us how to defiantly live life. When surgery took the coordination in her right hand, she learned to write with her left. When treatments left her too exhausted to ride, she took joy in stable chores and teaching other students. Susan’s family spearheaded the Run in her memory to ensure all families have access to Lovelane’s unique and effective therapy. All proceeds from the Run support Lovelane’s Tuition Assistance Program, so that all children in need can receive the highly beneficial therapy at Lovelane regardless of their family’s financial situation. This is a chip timed 3.1mi route that winds through the distinctive Southwest Champaign area including many local businesses, parks, and of course, fire station.  This local race seeks to support the Champaign Firefighters Benevolent Fund, which was created in 2022 as a new charitable organization. Rocky Mountain Road Runners holds a monthly Trophy Series in the Denver area.  We provide a low-key, low-cost racing environment. Everyone is welcome to run with us! The race uses a handicap start system, slow-to-fast, spread over ~13 minutes. This gives everyone a chance to win. We'll use your estimated finish time to assign you a start time with others the same speed. This race will start and finish on Kenosia Avenue. Runners will begin the race heading northbound until they reach Christopher Columbus Avenue. From there, runners will continue around the cul-de-sac and head back towards the start/finish line. The course is flat and will have a hydration table set up around the halfway point. There will be a post race party and awards at Elicit Brewing following the race.  Every dollar raised from this race will go toward supporting an officer’s child’s higher education fund. At the end of the event, a recipient will be randomly chosen by an independent third party. A free beer from Elicit Brewing will be given to any runner age 21+, with valid proof of sign up.  There will be plenty of parking available on race day at the Elicit Brewing lot, located at 15 Backus Avenue. A celebration of Trumbull High School Seniors, the Trumbull High School Eagle Final Fly Thru is a car procession allowing High School Seniors a chance to cruise the Town of Trumbull while onlookers cheer them on into the future!  The event will begin at the Trumbull Mall and proceed along a planned route to Trumbull High School. ALL SENIORS MUST BE DRIVEN BY PARENT OR OR GUARDIAN ALL DRIVERS MUST ALSO REGISTER FOR THE EVENT Seniors may safely travel in a vehicle as the procession leads them through town and culminates at Trumbull High School. This event is for members of the THS Class of 2026 only!  Arrange to have your parent (or another responsible adult) drive so you can take pictures and safely enjoy this fun event!  All participants must be seat belted and follow all traffic laws at all times.
