The Amy King 5K Run will be held on Thanksgiving morning, November 26, 2026 at 9:00 am in Jamestown, NY.      Proceeds raised will benefit the Amy King Kids’ YMCA Summer Camp and Southwestern Central School Scholarships.Amy King was a flight attendant on United Flight 175. She was 29 years old on September 11, 2001 when terrorists hijacked her flight. The 4th Annual Pelican Yacht Club Turkey Trot 5K will take place on Thanksgiving morning, 2026! Pelican Yacht Club is once again opening its doors to the public in this event to support Jaycee Park and our running community. This race has sold out for the last two years, and will sell out again at 750 participants in 2026! Please take this opportunity to  start your morning off right, with a trot and toast (drinks and snacks to be provided) at the Pelican Yacht Club. During the race, runners will experience the beauty of South Hutchinson Island as they trot through eclectic neighborhoods before getting to Ocean Boulevard. Runners will jog the jetty before heading back to the Pelican Yacht Club where the race will wrap up in plenty of time to get ready for Thanksgiving dinner! Please join us for the 27th A8K Classic and the Tom Fleming 2K Run benefiting the Glen Ridge Educational Foundation.  Start time 8K 9:00AM, 2K 8:15AM. The 8K Run honors local hero and Olympic Champion, Horace Ashenfelter, who won the steeplechase event at the 1952 Olympic Games in Helsinki, Finland. The 2K Run honors local hero Tom Fleming who won the 1973 and 1975 New York City Marathons. COURSE: The 8K Course is a USATF Certified “relatively flat” road course with two water stops through historic Glen Ridge. The one mile course is USATF certified; an out and run back on Ridgewood Avenue. Celebrate Thanksgiving weekend and the lighting of Christmas Mountain in Salida with a 5 mile and 1 mile race!  The 5 mile course begins and ends by Riverside Park in downtown Salida. Race course is very scenic and mostly flat (around 160 feet of elevation gain) and takes place on city and county roads and gravel or concrete pedestrian paths.
