Every dollar goes to Special Olympics Virginia!  The Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics began in 1981 in Kansas when Wichita Police Chief Richard LaMunyon saw an urgent need to raise funds and increase awareness for Special Olympics. Chief LaMunyon created the Torch Run as a way to involve his officers in the community by running a torch relay for their local Special Olympics. More than 40 years later, 97,000+ law enforcement officers from around the world are involved and have raised more than $1 billion to support community-based sport programs for people with intellectual disabilities!

2026 Henderson Husky 5K and 1 Mile Run  The Henderson Husky 5K and Mile Run will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2026. The 1 Mile Fun Run will start at 8am followed by the 5K at 8:30am. The Memory Mile Wellness Challenge is a virtual event that helps raise awareness and funds for the Alzheimer’s Association’s The Longest Day.  __________________________________________________________________________________________________________   Over 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease, a brain disorder that causes a progressive decline in memory, thinking and learning.  This number is staggering but there are ways to decrease your risk for the disease- one of these is being physically active.  This challenge is to promote that healthy habit.   Research suggests, as little as 150 minutes a week of moderate-intensity aerobic activity and 2 days of strength training may reduce the risk for developing Alzheimer’s by up to 50%. We will combine all the participants' cardio minutes along with their strength training minutes to try and reach 6 million minutes… representing the over 6 million people living with Alzheimer’s. The Motts 5 Miler is the second race of the FXBG Trail series. This trail race begins with a smooth, approachable start along Motts Run Reservoir — giving runners time to settle into their pace and find their rhythm before the course gradually reveals its character. The opening stretch is runnable and forgiving, setting you up for what’s to come. From there, the course features three main climbs that define the day. Each ascent brings its own personality — steady and sustained, short and punchy, and one final grinder that tests your grit. Altogether, runners will tackle 341 feet of total elevation gain, enough to make you work without overwhelming the legs. The descents are flowing and fun, offering opportunities to recover and carry momentum into the next section. Join James City County Parks & Recreation in the Capital Color Ride event. The route will include a 15-mile stretch along the Virginia Capital Trail. The Alliance is honored to announce that the 2026 9/11 National Memorial Trail Bike Tour is scheduled to take place from June 12 to July 11, 2026, in observance of the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001. This historic journey offers a powerful opportunity to reflect on a quarter century of remembrance and American resilience. This meaningful journey will cover a distance of 1,200 miles over 27 days, traversing scenic landscapes and paying tribute to the memory of those affected by the events of September 11, 2001. This fun event has something for everyone! The USATF certified course  begins and ends at the Intervale Trail Head of The Jackson River Scenic Trail in Covington, Virginia. The trail follows an old railroad bed of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway. The course has a smooth crushed gravel surface and is mostly flat with some light hills. The trail follows its namesake river, winding it's way through small communities, cultivated fields, and small patches of woodland. It isn't uncommon to see wildlife along the way.   WEATHER This is a rain or shine event.  In the case of severely inclement weather, announcements regarding the race status will be made on the website (www.jacksonrivermarathon.com), on Facebook and via local media.  If there is sufficient advanced notice of a severe weather event, notices will also be sent via the email submitted with your registration.   AWARDS All finishers receive a commemorative finisher's medal. The Fauquier Education Farm 5K and Fun Run ia fundraiser to benefit the Fauquier Education Farm   (https://www.fauquiereducationfarm.org/ ) We are a 501(c)(3) whose mission is, in part, to advance agriculture through education and best method farming.  We also support the extended community by donating our ENTIRE harvest of produce to local food banks (over 500 tons of fresh produce in total). We rely almost exclusively on volunteers to plant and harvest our crops, and we rely 100% on donations and grants to finance this endeavor.

The 4th annual event is in memory of Connor James Smith who passed away at age 12, but loved being outdoors and being pushed in his wheelchair on runs with his mom. All proceeds will benefit the Connor James Smith grant for SCN8A families.   Event Summary: The in person run will be held on Saturday, June 13th.  In addition to supporting children with special needs, special equipment and therapies, your race entry will get you an official race time, a finisher's medal, and a finish-line beer (valid only on race day).   Virtual participants will have 7 days to compete their distance, and will receive a finisher's medal.   Event Details: The race will consist of three different race lengths: Half-Marathon, Quarter-Marathon, and 5k.  A virtual option for all three is available.     Half-Marathon This race will be 2 3.25-mile loops (out and back) on the Capital Trail starting from Indian Fields Tavern.  We will have water on the course at both turn-around points.  Race day bib picku

The purpose of the Fathers and Families race event is to promote the vital role fathers play as a stabilizing presence in the home and community. Hosted by A Father’s Legacy, Inc., the Second Annual Fathers and Families Fun Walk/Run raises awareness and support for programs that empower both young and mature fathers to build strong families and thriving communities. The race will be held at the beautiful Pratt Park 120 River Rd, Fredericksburg. This paved and gravel course winds its way along the back side of the YMCA.  We will have music on site, a photographer, an award ceremony, and refreshments after the completion of the race at Pratt Park. Beautiful countryside with rolling hills. Race Director Charity Hurst founded the race in 1992. The event brings runners from far away for the beautiful course, and of course, the sheep!
