The Waterloo Library & Historical Society presents the 2026 Bookish 5k & the Cookie Fun Run (If You Give A Pig A Party)!   Join us for our 3rd Annual Bookish 5K: Stories in Stride event with a different theme for this year. 2026’s 5k theme is TBD. The first 100 Bookish 5K participants will receive a book-themed medal and T-shirt.    “If you give a pig a party”, they will probably party. When they party, they will probably feel guilty. But if they do this fun-run they can have their cake and eat it too! Bridger Ridge Run

The Ed Anacker Bridger Ridge Run is a remote and aesthetic ~20 mile foot-race along the crest of the Bridger Mountains, near Bozeman in Southwest Montana.  It is a not-for-profit event enabled by about as many volunteers as participants.    The Bridger Ridge Run is put on & sponsored by the Big Sky Wind Drinkers, which is a premier running club for runners of all ages and abilities.  Some videos, photos, and history of this event can be found on this Big Sky Wind Drinkers webpage.   Remote and Technical! Essentially the entire route involves unstable footing, challenging ascents, brutal descents, and unpredictable weather along an exposed ridge.  Experience with mountain running is important.     No part of the route can be accessed by a road.  All supplies, including water, are hauled to Aid Stations through human volunteering.  Aid Stations will carefully track each participant's progress, and will have limited medical teams, supplies, and snacks.  Except for water, we expect

What is Swim to the Moon?Swim to the Moon is an extraordinary open-water swimming adventure through the picturesque Hiland Chain of Lakes near Hell, Michigan. Choose your distance — .5 Mile, 1.2 Mile, 2.4 Mile, 5K, 10K or 15K — and have the time of your life swimming through Southeast Michigan’s most sublime waterways, all the while showing support for a very worthy cause: North Star Reach, a camp for children with life-threatening, serious, and chronic medical conditions. The Devil's Den 10 Miler is one of the best 10-mile races in Virginia!  The in-person race starts at 7:15am on Sunday, August 16th. The DD10 is set in beautiful Culpeper, centrally located between Washington, DC, and Charlottesville nestled in the Piedmont River Valley. It is a Coldwell Banker Elite Grand Prix Series race. Starting and finishing in front of the Culpeper Sports Complex, the course is mostly flat with some rolling hills. The USATF certified course is a loop with scenic views of the beautiful Culpeper countryside. The Race to the Rock 5K is back!  As most of you know, Chimney Rock and Lake Lure were devastated by Hurricane Helene in 2024.While the area is slowly recovering, the Lake Lure Olympiad Committee is pleased to be able to bring back both the Race to the Rock 5K as well as the Slam the Dam 10K, as part of their "Race for Recovery" weekend. Kentucky Cryptid Series - Wolfman

Finish 3 of the 4 races (In-person or Virtual) and receive a fun cryptid medal and series survivor shirt! The Wolfman Race is the third in a series of trail runs through Louisville's beautiful parks. This is a seven mile run through the trails of Iroquois Park.  We'll start near the amphitheater winding through Iroquois Park.  Wolfman / Dogman / Upright Walking Canid Cryptids while there are may names for these beasts, Kentucky has its fair share of reports and stories. The most well known is likely the Beast of LBL (Land Between the Lakes). Closer to Louisville we have the Beast of Bullitt County. Reports of sightings of these beasts come from across the state. Many describe the beast as around 7 Ft tall, with dog/werewolf type features, walking upright through the shadows. We invite youth between the ages of 5 and 14 to join us at the North Shore Youth Triathlon (NSYT). The NSYT challenges youth to develop fitness and achieve their personal best while having fun! The NSYT is hosted by the not-for-profit Evanston-based OWLS (Open Water Lake Swimmers) and draws on over fifteen years of experience inspiring youth through triathlon.
