Mud Day Mayhem Community Event and Fundraiser! June 27th at Leslie Science and Nature Center Join us for a day full of muddy and messy play at Mud Day Mayhem!  Saturday June 27th from 10am-12:30pm at Leslie Science & Nature Center. Discover the Mud Monster in you as you and your family dive into the wonders of mud with hands-on activities. Make mud pies, paintings and sculptures, try out your skills at mud throwing, dip your feet or your whole body into the giant mud zone, and listen to muddy stories. There are also plenty of activities for friends who prefer to stay on the less messy side of play. This event is for children of all ages. This year, with the help of sponsors and donors like you, we are able to offer this experience FREE to the community.   Mud Day T- Shirt and other Mud Day related swag will be on sale. Race Location: CentraCare-Rice Memorial Hospital Ambulance Garage Corner of Becker Ave and 2nd Street Willmar, MN It is a fun event for the whole family that takes place each year during Willmar Fests. The race is a four-mile, USATF-certified course that starts in downtown Willmar, winds along beautiful Foot Lake and the scenic trails of Robbins Island, then passes over the First Street bridge before returning to Rice Memorial Hospital. Runners will be timed using electronic chips included inside each race bib. Water stops are provided at two locations along the route, and splits are available at the one, two, and three-mile marks. Bleachers are set up near the finish line at 2nd Street and Becker Avenue for spectators, family and friends. We are back for an exciting 2026 Red, White and Blue COLOR Blast 5K run/walk and 10K run!  This will be an in-person event with the start and finish at the Whitmore Lake Elementary School - 1077 Barker Rd. We are back with a color blast run where at the start of the 5k, finish for all runners and in the color zone along the 5k route runners/walkers will be blasted with red and blue color powder. If color powder isn't your thing, no worries. Just tell the volunteers along the route, and they will not blast you.  We encourage all racers to show their spirit by wearing red, white and blue! Whether you want to swim or kayak, we have the sprint-distance race for you. Both races start at 8 am Saturday, June 27th. The swimmers start 750m upstream and the kayakers start in the river at the transition area. After the 750m downstream swim or the 5k kayak loop, racers will ride a 10.6 mile bike course followed by a 5k run. We have one, central transition area at the Lockport Boat Launch--a truly beautiful spot for family and friends to cheer you on! This race has been created to honor the memory of Raeann Rose Merlino and raise funds for the Memorial Scholarship in her name.  Raeann Rose Merlino, 10, of West Pittston, departed from this world Sunday, Dec. 4, 2022, after a brief battle with the flu and RSV. Her untimely passing has left her loved ones with unimaginable sorrow in their hearts, for she was a beacon of love that effortlessly filled one with joy. Raeann, born to Jamie Merlino and Dawn Gazda on June 25, 2012, is remembered for her energetic, caring and strong-willed personality. She was a fifth-grade student in the Wyoming Area School District. Twirling and giggling, Rae was constantly dancing with exceptional rhythm. Her love of dance led her to cheerleading, which became a passion and outlet for her creativity and energy. Empathetic to her core, compassion for animals, especially her canine companion, Gus, was abundant in Rae. Join us for this magnificent Vineyard Run in Hermann, Missouri. This 5K Trail Run will lead you through some of our beautiful vineyards. Starting at the base of our Vineyard Hill, we will have a runner’s village to get you pumped up for the trek to the top and a breathtaking view of the hills surrounding our award-winning Winery. The course then takes you not just around the vineyard, but through rows of Vignoles and our Estate Norton grape vines. We are excited to bring back for year #2 the unique fitness challenge we refer to as The Forge Quad-Athlon! If you are looking for a complete body and mind challenge, this might just be the ticket. This event will take place on Saturday, June 27th in Old Forge, NY. The Quad-Athlon will start and finish at the George T. Hiltebrant Center (201 North St., Old Forge, NY).  You will ride, hike, paddle and run a total of 26.5 miles. The Quad-Athlon will start with a 13 mile mtn/gravel bike on the Tobie Trail (snowmobile trails).  The bike is followed by a hike through the up and down trails on Vista Mountain for ~4.5 miles. After your adventurous hike you will then begin your 2.6 mile trail run on the Tobie Trail that will take you to Rondaxe Road  where  you will put your kayak in and start your 5.4 mile paddle down the beautiful Moose River. Abraham “Abe” Balawi, a gifted athlete and student, was tragically taken from us on August 6, 2017, in a car accident. A 2015 graduate of Liberty High School, Abe won the AA State 1600m race in 2014 and went on to run at Mercer University. He was recently awarded a posthumous degree for his achievements. This race has been created to honor the memory of Raeann Rose Merlino and raise funds for the Memorial Scholarship in her name.  Raeann Rose Merlino, 10, of West Pittston, departed from this world Sunday, Dec. 4, 2022, after a brief battle with the flu and RSV. Her untimely passing has left her loved ones with unimaginable sorrow in their hearts, for she was a beacon of love that effortlessly filled one with joy. Raeann, born to Jamie Merlino and Dawn Gazda on June 25, 2012, is remembered for her energetic, caring and strong-willed personality. She was a fifth-grade student in the Wyoming Area School District. Twirling and giggling, Rae was constantly dancing with exceptional rhythm. Her love of dance led her to cheerleading, which became a passion and outlet for her creativity and energy. It will begin and end at the Helicon Brewery in Oakdale, PA with the longest length turning around in West Virginia. You will be able to choose your ride based on your skill confidence. Choose from an approximately 3 mile family ride, 17 mile, 35 mile or 56 mile trip. Starting this year, there is a $50 fee for all distance riders to participate. Kinship of the Perham Area is hosting the 21st annual Average Jo Triathlon on Saturday, June 27th at Paul Miller Park just north of Perham, MN.  The Average Jo consists of a 1/3-mile swim in Little Pine Lake, then transition to your bike for a 12.5-mile bike ride, and end with a 3.1 mile run to Arvig Park. Come showcase your ability at the TALI Croft State Park Off-Road Duathlon.  The Adult race takes you on a 3.5-mile trail run where you will be running where horses still roam, watch out for those horse pies 😊.  Then its off to the mountain bike trail course with plenty of climbing, drops and water crossings to make you feel as if you are riding on a bronco. Once on the trail you will do two loops equally 8 miles for total distance of 9.  Finish with a 1.5 mile out and back dash through a wooded area along the trails of Croft.  The Youth race will begin on the 1-mile nature trail flowing through mixed pine and hardwood trees and wind along the Fairforest creek. Then its off to the mountain bike trail course with plenty of climbing and drops to make you feel as if you are riding on a bronco. This 3.5-mile course will be one lap.
