Maine Endurance Sports Alliance (MESA) a 501(c)3 nonprofit is proud to continue the great running history established by The Great Bangor Marathon & Half with the introduction of the BANGOR MARATHON – Full/Half/10K/5K – Running Festival on Sunday June 7, 2026. Starting at 7 am at the corner of Main St and Dutton St in Bangor, Maine allowing more participants of all abilities to cross the finish line. This event is USATF sanctioned, and Boston certified (Marathon ME24008BK  Half ME24007BK).  The full marathon will run through Bangor out valley avenue to Broadway with a turnaround in the town of Kenduskeag and back to the Finish at Bangor Waterfront Park. The 2026 Unified 5k and AdaptXpo is an inclusive road race and adaptive sports expo designed so that everyone can participate, whether they run, walk, row, or roll. The event raises critical funds for AdaptX education, research, community events, fitness programming, and grant initiatives. The Unified 5k is a space where athletes with and without disabilities show up together, challenge perceptions, and prove that fitness and sport are more meaningful when everyone has a place at the starting line. The Raiders Rumble 5K is an activity to raise funds in support of the Fryeburg Academy Track and Field Programs as well as promote healthy living and an active lifestyle in our community and surrounding towns.  There will be awards! 1st and 2nd in each age division as well as 1st place overall for both Mens and Womens Divisions. York Parks & Recreation and York Rotary are happy to announce the 2026 Annual Four on the 4th Road Race in York, Maine!  Registration opens on February 1st, 2026, at 8:00am and stays open until July 1st, 2026, at 11:59pm or until filled, whichever comes first. The Stars and Stripes Event includes a 5K Run/Walk and a (free) Kids Fun Run. The course is paved and will take participants through the beautiful downtown of Rangeley, Maine. A Maine Running Hall Of Fame Race The Charles E Davis Independence Run was elected into the Maine Running Hall Of Fame Class of 2024.  This will mark the  second year as a Maine Running Hall of Fame race.  Sunday July 5 - 9 AM Start The Charles E Davis Independence Run is in its 57th year .There are 2 options (1 choice) - a 7 mile run or a 4 mile walk.  The event will be on Sunday July 5 with a 9AM start time. The Norway Triathlon is a United States Triathlon (USAT)-sanctioned sprint triathlon that combines swimming, bicycle riding, and running. Competitors begin with a 750-meter swim on a triangular course from Norway’s Pennesseewassee Park beach area near Route 118. Upon returning to the beach, swimmers will run to the transition area and mount their bikes for a 12.4-mile (20 km) ride up Route 118, taking a right turn on Greenwood Road to a turnaround point beyond Richardson Hollow Road. Once back at the transition area the final leg begins; a 3.1-mile (5 km) run through the paved roads of the Ashton neighborhood. The run continues back to Pennesseewassee Park for the finish line. The Maine Summer Adventure Race is an annual event designed to showcase the most beautiful, interesting, and fun parts of Maine. The 3-hour race is a great introduction to the sport, geared towards families and beginners. The 3-hour event is a foot- and bike-only event with no paddling in and around Greenwood, Maine. Biking will be on paved road and dirt trail surfaces. It is family-friendly and appropriate for racers of all ages. Teams should plan to bring bikes to the event. 2026 - 13th Annual Race This race is in memory of Matthew Rairdon, whose life was tragically taken in November 2013. When preparing to go to college, Matt was extremely appreciative to receive a scholarship to attend St. Joseph's College. The intent of this scholarship fund is to help other people who want to pursue a nursing education at St. Joseph's. The first scholarship was awarded in the fall of 2014, and now we award 2 scholarships annually. This annual race, which takes place during the Maine Potato Blossom Festival, takes runners over a 5-mile course which goes down the streets, roads, and through the potato fields of Fort Fairfield! This race is a part of the 2026 Crown of Maine Race Series.

The Peaks to Portland Swim to Benefit Kids is one of the oldest open water swims in the world; since before World War II thousands have braved Maine’s waters to swim the 2.4 miles from Peaks Island to Portland’s East End Beach.

The 47th annual Sebago Days celebration will again include a road race open to both runners and walkers. It'll be a 5-kilometer out-and-back course on Route 11, starting near the intersection of Route 114, and the course will be closed to traffic. T-shirts to the first 150 entrants in the 5K. Registration through March 31 is $25. The entry fee for adults increases to $35 on April 1 but remains $24 for ages 17 and under, and race-day registration for everyone is $40. No preregistration is required for the free 50-yard toddler dash at 7:50 a.m. Awards for top three overall males and females, and first place in the following male and female categories: Overall, 10 & under, 11-13, 14-17, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & over. About the RacePortland’s first multisport race for children, The Portland Kids Duathlon, is presented by Benchmark Real Estate. The race gives young people ages 3-12 an opportunity to participate in the fast-growing world of multi-sport racing. This 3.1-mile wheel-measured course starts on the corner of Fickett's Point Road and Bay View Road. It is an out-and-back trip down Fickett's Point Road overlooking Narraguagas Bay. The Kid's Fun Run is one mile—1/2 mile up Fickett’s Point Road and back. Bold Coast Runners time the race.  All the funds raised will go to Incredible Edible Milbridge, a program of Women for Healthy Rural Living (WHRL). WHRL is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2004. Their most extensive program, Incredible Edible Milbridge, nourishes their community by growing organic vegetables in free pick-your-own gardens and educational workshops. The Mini Mountain Challenge goes down this July 26, 2026 at Sunday River. Five hundred of the toughest and gnarliest kiddos from ages 4-12 take to the mountain obstacle course. The Mini Mountain Challenge is a scaled-down version of the Tough Mountain Challenge designed for kids ages 4 to 12 that's all about having fun and getting dirty. Kids can expect a short course that includes uphill and downhill running, dirt, mud, fun obstacles, snow guns, ball pits, foam finishes and even a few of the adult obstacles. Mini Mountain is organized into heats broken down by age group. Course length and obstacles will vary by these age group, and everything is located in the same venue as the full Tough Mountain event.

York Parks & Recreation are happy to announce the 2026 Annual York Days 5k Road Race in York, Maine!  The fourth race in the Seacoast Road Race Series, this 5K is part of the Annual York Days Celebrations. This race benefits youth programming throughout York. Registration opens on February 1st, 2026, at 8:00am. Those who register by June 1st will be guaranteed a free race shirt in their requested size. Beyond June 1st, shirts will be given upon availability. Participants may pick up their race shirt and bib on race day, Sunday, August 9th. Lifestyle Sports Global LLC will be hosting an Olympic, Sprint and Half Ironman Triathlon on Sunday August 17, 2025, in Lincoln, Maine.  The Olympic Triathlon will be 1500 meter swim, 40k bike and 10k run which will begin at 7:30 am.  The Sprint Triathlon will be 750 meter swim, 20K bike and 5K run which will begin at 7:30 am. The Half Ironman Triathlon will be a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run which will begin at 7:30 am. There will be a Duathlon option for the sprint and Olympic events. Races will begin and end at Prince Thomas Park on Lake Mattanawcook.

The Breakaway 5K and Marilyn & Nat Golzbein Memorial Fun Run are the principal fundraisers supporting scholarships for Old Orchard Beach High School graduates. The scholarships are awarded by the MAPS Scholarship Foundation, a group of retired educators and former students from OOB who aspire to support the continuing education of OOB High School graduates. 100% of the proceeds directly benefit the MAPS Foundation. In 2025, MAPS Scholarship Foundation granted sixteen $1000 scholarships to Old Orchard Beach High School graduates. About the triathlon Sign up for Maine's most beautiful triathlon at Pemaquid Beach in Bristol on August 23 (9:00 am start). Compete as an individual or as a team of up to three people. Much of the race route hugs the coastline of the iconic Pemaquid peninsula. This is a beautiful and fun community event - make it as competitive or as laid back as you like! The Pemaquid Beach Triathlon is a fundraiser for Bristol Parks and Recreation. Proceeds will be used to build a playground at Pemaquid Beach Park. To date, we've raised $48,797 for the playground fund.
