This year's 5K walk is in person on October 25th and can be a solo virtual event for you if you cannot make it on the 19th (Walk anytime, anywhere in the month of October to raise funds for mental health care for the uninsured and underinsured).  This walk benefits Spiritus Christi Mental Health Center, where we are celebrating 24 years of providing access to mental health care and support to people who need it, regardless of their insurance status or income. Our volunteer staff of therapists, social workers, and advocates helps people get the care they need to live safe, healthy, less stressful lives.  Last year, 204 people participated in one or more of our programs. The Race with Grace 10K Why RwG 3.0?The Race with Grace (RwG) 10K was established in 1991 as an outgrowth of the participation of several men in the Spencerport Canal Days races during the mid-1980’s. It had a two-fold purpose, the more important one being a community outreach. Secondarily, it was play on the current Pastor’s name, George Grace, who was a runner. In our inaugural year we had 185 registrants and 171 finishers. Our attendance peaked in 2015 when we celebrated our silver anniversary race with 1245 registrants and 1121 finishers. Over the race’s 31-year existence, a total of approximately 5,000 individuals have participated. Five men remain who have finished every single RwG and ran virtually in 2020. They are Stan Cipira, Bob Dyjak, Dave O’Leary, Ric Perry and Doug Ralph. The race established itself as one of the best races in western NY. It has consistently been named one of NY’s finest races by New England Runner magazine. In addition, it has been recognized as one of the cornerstone races in the Rochester Runner of the Year series. All proceeds, once race expenses are deducted, go to support C.U.R.E. Childhood Cancer Association. With the current race director stepping down due to work and family obligations, no clear choice for a successor, the race’s future appeared to be at crossroads. Thankfully, as the “door” on the race was quickly closing, the Rochester Running Company and Lakeshore Community Church agreed to manage and host this year’s race. About Lakeshore Community Church: Founded in 1995 by Vince and Sue DiPaola, Lakeshore Community Church exists to help people discover and develop a growing relationship with Jesus. Guardians Cup is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting first responder and military mental health. What began as an annual hockey tournament has grown into a year-round mission to raise awareness, reduce the stigma surrounding mental health, connect those who serve with meaningful resources and support, and strengthen the community surrounding them. Our annual Guardians Cup hockey tournament brings together first responders, military members, veterans, families, and supporters through hockey, camaraderie, and a shared purpose–creating an impact that extends far beyond the ice. Now entering its fourth year, Guardian’s Cup has become an annual tradition bringing together active and retired first responders, military members, and veterans through hockey, camaraderie, and shared experience. Since its beginning, the tournament has raised more than $30,000 in support of mental health and well-being resources for first responders. As Guardian’s Cup continues to grow, so does its commitment to using the tournament as a platform for giving back and strengthening support for those who serve. It’s an opportunity to step away from the demands of the job, reconnect with old friends, build new relationships, and spend a weekend alongside people who understand the experiences that come with a life of service.​ In 2027, Guardian’s Cup begins an exciting new chapter with Healing Heroes Foundation serving as the tournament’s Official Host Partner. The ROC Indoor Triathlon will be held on Saturday March 28th at the beautiful Louis Wolk Jewish Community Center (aka...the JCC) with the first heat starting at 1PM.  A post-race party and awards ceremony will be held on the JCC premises starting at 5pm. In sequential triathlon order (swim/bike/run), it will be a timed event with Average Ranking in each of the 3 disciplines to decide the awards. Swim - 15mins: A 5-lane lap pool where 2 athletes will split one lane and swim as many laps as possible. To keep it simple, only completed laps will be counted into the athletes swim distance. RHSC's Super Hear-O 5K & Family Fun Run For the past two years, over 200 families gathered on a beautiful Sunday morning in June, many wearing superhero costumes, and ran, walked, rolled and strolled for a really great cause. They came out for Rochester Hearing & Speech Center’s annual Super Hear-O 5K, an event to celebrate the superheroes making a difference in the lives of individuals with hearing health needs and children with developmental disabilities served through our nonprofit mission of “Communication for Life.” At RHSC, we provide both hearing health testing and treatment for individuals of all ages, but we also provide Early Intervention and Preschool Developmental Services to our youngest and most vulnerable children, many of whom are currently on the waitlist for Early Intervention services in Monroe County.
