This year's 5K walk is in person on October 25th and can be a solo virtual event for you if you cannot make it on the 19th (Walk anytime, anywhere in the month of October to raise funds for mental health care for the uninsured and underinsured).  This walk benefits Spiritus Christi Mental Health Center, where we are celebrating 24 years of providing access to mental health care and support to people who need it, regardless of their insurance status or income. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the Go for the Gold Rochester fundraiser supporting Brighter, Tomorrows, Inc, , a non-profit outreach to families who have been touched by childhood cancer. This year we are excited to welcome you back to Cascade Park where we will host an event that offers both in person and virtual options including a 5k and 10k run, 3k Family Walk, and also Children's Races at the Cascade Lakeside Building area on October 31st! During Covid we were so appreciative of those of you who supported us via a virtual race from across the US that we have decided to continue the virtual race and walk options! This annual event provides critical funding allowing us to support families who suddenly find themselves on a childhood cancer journey. The comfort Brighter Tomorrows’ families feel from the support, connection and friendship received is impactful and that support continues beyond the treatment journey well into the future. We sincerely appreciate the compassion, volunteer efforts and financial donations that have been given to Brighter Tomorrows and extend our heartfelt thanks to friends, families, our business colleagues, and our communities that have joined our mission. This year we have invited a Brighter Tomorrows family from years back to join us, Randy and Ree Erickson. They formed a 501(c)(3) to provide affordable apartments and support for out of town families with immuno-compromised children receiving cancer treatment or an organ transplant at Mayo Clinic Rochester. Cy's Place is named after their son Silas, an amazing little boy who battled cancer with incredible courage however he sadly lost the battle in late 2007. They have purchased a 9 acre lot in Rochester with the dream of creating apartments that will be a place of rest, comfort, and care for many families in the years ahead. You can help by donating to Brighter Tomorrows, Inc. and/or Cy's Place and by sharing this page on social media with all those you care about! The Race with Grace 10K Why RwG 3.0?The Race with Grace (RwG) 10K was established in 1991 as an outgrowth of the participation of several men in the Spencerport Canal Days races during the mid-1980’s. It had a two-fold purpose, the more important one being a community outreach. Secondarily, it was play on the current Pastor’s name, George Grace, who was a runner. In our inaugural year we had 185 registrants and 171 finishers. Our attendance peaked in 2015 when we celebrated our silver anniversary race with 1245 registrants and 1121 finishers. Over the race’s 31-year existence, a total of approximately 5,000 individuals have participated. Five men remain who have finished every single RwG and ran virtually in 2020. They are Stan Cipira, Bob Dyjak, Dave O’Leary, Ric Perry and Doug Ralph. The race established itself as one of the best races in western NY. It has consistently been named one of NY’s finest races by New England Runner magazine. In addition, it has been recognized as one of the cornerstone races in the Rochester Runner of the Year series. All proceeds, once race expenses are deducted, go to support C.U.R.E. Childhood Cancer Association. With the current race director stepping down due to work and family obligations, no clear choice for a successor, the race’s future appeared to be at crossroads. Thankfully, as the “door” on the race was quickly closing, the Rochester Running Company and Lakeshore Community Church agreed to manage and host this year’s race. Guardians Cup is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting first responder and military mental health. What began as an annual hockey tournament has grown into a year-round mission to raise awareness, reduce the stigma surrounding mental health, connect those who serve with meaningful resources and support, and strengthen the community surrounding them. Our annual Guardians Cup hockey tournament brings together first responders, military members, veterans, families, and supporters through hockey, camaraderie, and a shared purpose–creating an impact that extends far beyond the ice. Now entering its fourth year, Guardian’s Cup has become an annual tradition bringing together active and retired first responders, military members, and veterans through hockey, camaraderie, and shared experience. Since its beginning, the tournament has raised more than $30,000 in support of mental health and well-being resources for first responders. As Guardian’s Cup continues to grow, so does its commitment to using the tournament as a platform for giving back and strengthening support for those who serve. It’s an opportunity to step away from the demands of the job, reconnect with old friends, build new relationships, and spend a weekend alongside people who understand the experiences that come with a life of service.​ In 2027, Guardian’s Cup begins an exciting new chapter with Healing Heroes Foundation serving as the tournament’s Official Host Partner. The ROC Indoor Triathlon will be held on Saturday March 28th at the beautiful Louis Wolk Jewish Community Center (aka...the JCC) with the first heat starting at 1PM.  A post-race party and awards ceremony will be held on the JCC premises starting at 5pm. In sequential triathlon order (swim/bike/run), it will be a timed event with Average Ranking in each of the 3 disciplines to decide the awards. Swim - 15mins: A 5-lane lap pool where 2 athletes will split one lane and swim as many laps as possible. To keep it simple, only completed laps will be counted into the athletes swim distance. (15mins)Bike - 15mins: Using a stationary bike, athletes will spin as hard as they can to rack up distance. Athletes can adjust the knobs to increase the amount of wattage to impact distance. Get Ready to Go Bananas, Rochester! This isn’t your normal 5K. Actually, it’s not even a 5K. The Going Bananas Run Rochester is a roughly three-mile fun run where hundreds of people take over the trails of Rochester dressed head to toe as bananas. Yes, bananas. Run it. Walk it. Bring the kids. Get a group of friends together. Try to win the whole thing. We really don’t care how you do it. The whole point is to have a ridiculously fun time while raising money for a great local cause. 🍌 Your Banana Suit Is Included Every registration comes with your very own banana suit to wear during the run and take home afterward. RHSC's Super Hear-O 5K & Family Fun Run For the past two years, over 200 families gathered on a beautiful Sunday morning in June, many wearing superhero costumes, and ran, walked, rolled and strolled for a really great cause. They came out for Rochester Hearing & Speech Center’s annual Super Hear-O 5K, an event to celebrate the superheroes making a difference in the lives of individuals with hearing health needs and children with developmental disabilities served through our nonprofit mission of “Communication for Life.” At RHSC, we provide both hearing health testing and treatment for individuals of all ages, but we also provide Early Intervention and Preschool Developmental Services to our youngest and most vulnerable children, many of whom are currently on the waitlist for Early Intervention services in Monroe County. Since 2010, the Rochester Triathlon (aka The ROC) is a late summer classic organized by the Rochester Area Triathletes (aka RATs) and held at Durand-Eastman Beach in Irondequoit, NY on Saturday August 22, 2026.  The ROC features a shallow open-water swim, closed-to-traffic, super-fast, bike course, and a picturesque run along Lake Ontario and Seabreeze shorelines to the roaring crowds lining the pathway.
