BOO. Medved's special brand of seasonal running nonsense returns with the Halloween-themed Scarrier Games on Thursday, October 22nd, 2026. We will be haunting Victor this year. Join your fellow ghouls and goblins for a spooky hunt at DeWolf Brewing in Victor. Friends from Saucony will be on hand with prizes and demo gear for you to try out. The Game The spooky hunt is a course with checkpoints and challenges. There will be plenty of bat and pumpkin-shaped nonsense to keep things interesting. Team Up or Go Solo If you are a solo player, you can join any team you want or select the Free Agent team. All players must register to participate. This year's spooky hunt is a great way to meet new people and make new running friends! Teams will fill up fast, so if you and your friends want to run together, you all need to sign up for the same team to secure your spots. Game day check-in will open at 5:30 PM, and the Games will start promptly at 6:15 PM. Run the Race...Stop the Stigma! Summer Smith was a loving mother of three boys who lost her 12-year battle with addiction on January 9th, 2015. Summer's mom Kristin has established this race in her memory. Summer desired to live a life in recovery and fought hard to overcome the disease of addiction. The 10th Annual Summer Smith 5k Addiction Awareness Memorial Run is an event that will be held on October 24th, 2026, at Guilderland High School in Guilderland Center, New York. Start time of the 5k will be 10 am. Both runners and walkers are welcome. This is a child/stroller friendly/dog friendly event. The race will be preceded by a Memory Ceremony at 9:00 am. Fundraising for the construction efforts by Border Buddies Ministries, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization to continue rebuilding classrooms in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Border Buddies ministries is led by the missionaries in Honduras, Mike and Glenda Miller, who were Horseheads locals and still have family in the Big Flats area. Border buddies is all about bringing community together and the 5K/10K is a great way to have a fun family event while raising funds to the organization. Border Buddies also provides medical and dental care to communities through volunteer teams. This event is officially timed by Falcon Race Timing and the organization that the fundraiser is for is also a charity organization.

Council Member Shahana Hanif and the PTAs of Brooklyn’s public schools are coming together for the 17th annual PTA 5K+ run/walk/stroll/toddle/scoot in Prospect Park. The race will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at 10 AM. Bib pickup and pre-race activities will begin at 9:00 AM. For over a decade now, the PTA Fun Run has been a community day in Prospect Park for local public school communities. Parents, students, and educators have showed up to build community have collectively raised funds for our neediest schools (Net proceeds from your registration fees will go to support PTAs at high need schools). The Fun Run will be a 3.3 mile loop, starting and finishing on the main park drive just outside the LeFrak Center. The run will start at 10 AM. Seton Catholic School will host the Knight’s Joust Fun Run on Saturday, Oct. 24, at the U.S. Oval in Plattsburgh, bringing runners, families and community members together to raise funds for Seton Catholic School and The Foundation of CVPH’s Kids’ Closet. The event will feature a one-mile walk/run beginning at 8:45 a.m., followed by a 5K race at 9 a.m. Registration is $15 for the one-mile and $25 for the 5K. Participants may register in advance or on the day of the event, with proceeds benefiting both Seton Catholic School and the Kids’ Closet at CVPH. Run/walk 4 mile loop around the beautiful Chadwick Lake in Newburgh, NY. The terrain is a wide gravel trail relatively flat and easy with a few small hills. The fall season is a perfect time to enjoy the foliage of this scenic park while participating in this unique event. This year's 5K walk is in person on October 25th and can be a solo virtual event for you if you cannot make it on the 19th (Walk anytime, anywhere in the month of October to raise funds for mental health care for the uninsured and underinsured).  This walk benefits Spiritus Christi Mental Health Center, where we are celebrating 24 years of providing access to mental health care and support to people who need it, regardless of their insurance status or income. Our volunteer staff of therapists, social workers, and advocates helps people get the care they need to live safe, healthy, less stressful lives.  Last year, 204 people participated in one or more of our programs.
