November Project Madison will host the 5th edition of the only half marathon race held entirely on Bascom Hill on Saturday, October 31st at 8am. That's 40 laps around a 1/3-mile oval-shaped sidewalk (approximately 2,000 feet of elevation gain). There are solo and team divisions, and costumes are highly encouraged. Registration for this untimed race is free. The top-of-the-hill aid station will offer water, snacks, and moral support. All solo finishers will receive a vintage November Project Madison buff of their choice.

The Spirit Walk is a personal challenge with a shared purpose. Choose your distance — 20, 10, or 6 miles — and follow a path that moves through Madison’s neighborhoods, parks, prairies, woodlands and natural spaces. Challenge yourself. Walk together. Give hope. This is not a race. It is an opportunity to step onto the path, embrace the challenge, discover what you are made of, and see what you carry back with you. Proceeds support Mundo Esperanza’s Community Hope Fund, helping communities turn locally identified needs into meaningful projects that improve lives and create opportunity.

Cancer is a deeply personal journey, and for our family, it became real the day our daughter, Syd, was diagnosed with brain cancer at just 20 years old. Nothing prepares you for that moment. Nothing prepares you for the surgeries, the radiation, the chemotherapy, or what comes next. But from the very beginning, we were carried — by God, by prayer, and by the people He placed around us. We were led to UW–Madison’s Carbone Cancer Center, nationally recognized for their cutting‑edge technology and groundbreaking research. We were surrounded by some of the most gifted physicians in the country: Dr. Ahmed, Dr. Howard, Dr. Bhatia, and their incredible teams. They are extraordinary humans — compassionate, brilliant, and unwavering in their mission. They used their God‑given gifts to guide Syd through two brain surgeries (one awake), 18 full-brain radiation treatments (this is not a standard of care/protocol), and a full year of chemotherapy. No part of the journey was easy, but we were never alone. There were prayers said over hospital beds, songs that became anchors on the hardest days, encouraging words from people who showed up at just the right moment, and a peace that didn’t make sense except that it came from God. Our story could have been so different. We know that and there isn’t a single day when we take that for granted. We are profoundly grateful for the grace that carried us, the hands that healed. Believing in Breakthrough The researchers at UW–Madison are working tirelessly to discover the breakthrough that will finally tame this disease. We believe they are close and the answer could be discovered right here, in our own backyard. We believe God is working through these brilliant minds to bring healing to families like ours. There are currently a couple promising studies in progress — including research on vaccine‑based therapies that could slow or even fight brain cancer. This work is bold, innovative, and full of hope. Since 2007 this race has encompassed a beloved local loop known as the Arb Loop. This is a 10K loop that includes the beautiful landscape of the UW- Madison Arboretum. Once again MadCity will host the 100K solo, 50K Solo, along with the 100K Relay, and 50K Relay. 2026 will be the home of the 100K National Championships.

The 18th Annual Midwest Financial Group Madison Mini Marathon is an exciting and scenic running event that showcases the best of Madison. Runners will pass by iconic landmarks such as Capitol Square, the renowned Dane County Farmer’s Market, State Street, Camp Randall Stadium, and the Kohl Center. The route also takes participants through the picturesque Arboretum, Picnic Point, and the University of Wisconsin Campus, offering a true taste of Madison’s charm. After crossing the finish line, runners are invited to the 14th Mile Post-Race Party, where they can unwind and celebrate their achievement. Participants aged 21 and over can enjoy a complimentary beer, courtesy of Wisconsin Distributors. Those who prefer non-alcoholic options can enjoy a soft drink or bottled water.
