The biggest day of running in Greenville returns on the last Saturday of October and it's called Spinx Run Fest!  Chip Timing. Timing will use RFID chips mounted on the back of the race bibs. 20th Annual Good Samaritan Cross Training 5K Get Excited as our 20th Annual Ministry Fundraiser offers Greenville their 12th Annual Cross Training 5K Race!! Hope of Glory and CrossFit Greenville are proud to continue the challenging Cross Training 5K to benefit families throughout Pitt County. Please join us as we blend our Annual 5K race with Cross Training exercises into a beautiful course beginning at Uptown Greenville, towards the Town Common and back up 5th Street, running by East Carolina University. GO Pirates! Our race offers the option to runners to run a regular 5K or those who like to step up their fitness level can participate in the 6 cross training stations guided by coaches from CrossFit Greenville and Rebel Fitness. These stations are placed throughout the 5K run and require a completion of specific exercises with multiple repetitions. Any weight exercises will be adjusted based on fitness level and weight requirements. Heats will be used to separate beginner, intermediate, and advance cross training levels. Proceeds will help Hope of Glory Ministries in their mission to relieve burdens, empower families, and proclaim Christ throughout our community! A large focus of our ministry is helping those in Pitt County who live at or beneath the level of poverty. Our Community Food Co-op Program is moving families towards financial stability by providing healthy fresh and non-perishable foods twice a month. With an estimated $375 savings each month, families are paired with mentors and set goals to redistribute the saved money towards debts, an emergency fund or savings account. Welcome to our annual rendition of the Pirates vs. Cancer Scare-O-Way Cancer 5k! We are an organization at the Brody School of Medicine in Greenville, NC dedicated to improving the lives of pediatric cancer patients at the local Maynard Children's Hospital. We achieve our goals by raising donations from the community and increasing awareness of pediatric cancers in Eastern North Carolina. As a testament to this fact, 100% of all proceeds from fundraising activities are donated directly to the Children's Hospital. One of our largest events of the year is our 5k that will be hosted the morning of Saturday, October 31st at the beautiful Wildwood Park. Our route is a flat, graded track running through pristine woodlands overlooking multiple lakes. Temperatures in late October will be optimal for fast times. The race will start promptly at 10am at the main park shelter (3450 Blue Heron Dr, Greenville, NC 27834) with a time limit of 75 minutes. There will be an official race start/finish line and time clock courtesy of our friends at Fleet Feet Greenville. There will also be water and light snacks at the shelter. The race is not formally timed, but your time will be visible at the finish line. We encourage participants to run in costume to feel the Halloween spirit! We also welcome donations besides the $15 entry fee, 100% of which will support our organization's mission to help children battling cancer here in Eastern NC. General Race Information The Paris Mountain Road Race 10k is a hilly run around the base of Paris Mountain starting and finishing at Redeemer Presbyterian Church at 6150 Old Buncombe Rd., Greenville, SC. The total elevation gain over the 10K distance is roughly 1500 feet. With over 2500 vertical feet of elevation gain, 89 curves, and some hills at 15% grade, the Paris Mountain Road Race 20k lives up to its billing as the TOUGHEST RACE IN THE SOUTH. The race starts at Redeemer Presbyterian Church, ascends the north side of Paris Mountain, descends on the south side, and uses the hilly back roads at the base of the mountain to return. Sorry, but strollers and dogs are not permitted in the Paris Mountain Road Races.

Because his brother played sports, Marvin became connected to the J.H. Rose athletic community at an early age. What began as an interest in watching his brother grew into a lifelong dedication to J.H. Rose and the student-athletes who came through its halls. For decades, Marvin could be found on the sidelines, in the stands, and around the athletic community cheering on the Rampants. He attended more than 1,300 J.H. Rose athletic events, including every Rose football game since 1972 and every basketball game since 1966. Year after year, generation after generation, Marvin showed up. But Marvin was more than a fan. He became a part of the J.H. Rose family and a familiar face to students, athletes, coaches, parents, and community members. His presence at games was something people came to expect, and his encouragement made people feel supported. Marvin had a smile that could light up a room and a special gift for making people feel seen and valued. His kindness was not limited to the people he knew. He had a way of making everyone around him feel like they mattered. Marvin’s dedication to his community did not go unnoticed. He received the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Special Person Award for his impact on the lives of others. J.H. Rose High School honored him by naming a street Marvin Jarman Drive. His story was also captured in a book about his life, and a plaque honoring Marvin now hangs at the entrance of Stallings Stadium at Elm Street Park. As one article about Marvin put it, “He was Greenville. He was J.H. Rose.” That is the legacy we want to carry forward. Miles for Marv was created as a way for the community to come together and celebrate the life of someone who spent so many years showing up for others. Marvin spent his life encouraging young people, supporting local athletics, and giving his time and attention to the people around him. This race gives us an opportunity to do the same. The Mile Light Ice Run starts in downtown Greenville, Maine, and heads out across frozen Moosehead Lake toward the iconic Mile Light before turning south and returning to town. Locals know that enjoying Moosehead Lake doesn’t end with summer. We’re adding this race to our event lineup to share the vast beauty of our home in every season. Think wide-open views, fresh winter air, and running without the sand, salt, and mud of roadside miles. In March, warmer days and cold nights can create a remarkable running surface. The sun softens the winter snowpack, while overnight temperatures freeze it back into a firm, packed surface.
