Here's the story behind this race: Bradlee LaMontagne's life was cut way too short at the age of 21 on December 10, 2020. He was tragically killed by a negligent boat driver in Cozumel, Mexico. He was a Junior at Johns Hopkins and also the Captain of the wrestling team. He loved wrestling. He started wrestling in elementary school with Great Neck Wrestling Club and continued on until college. He was two time captain of the Cox Wrestling team and a state finalist and two time state placer, region champion, and had over 120 varsity wins. He was an NCAA All American Scholar at Johns Hopkins placing in the region. Bradlee has 4 siblings and many family and friends. He was loving, kind, passionate and hard working. He had the kind of energy and positivity that would fill the room and bring a smile to everyone around them. He will be forever missed and loved. One Thanksgiving of note, 2019, Bradlee wanted to enjoy Thanksgiving just like everyone else. Except when you're a wrestler, as some of you know, wrestlers cut weight so it's not as easy to just eat and lay around like most of us get to do. Around the holidays it's pretty torturous especially when everyone is eating until their buttons pop off. Well, Brad wanted to eat and eat big, so he did what anyone would do, he ran 15.04 miles Thanksgiving morning😳!! Let me say it again, 15.04 MILES JUST TO EAT💪 That is BRADASS! Let me preface this by saying, this is not 15 miles and it's not Thanksgiving morning. But it is 6.2 miles and is in Seashore State Park (or First Landing as it is now called), similar to where he ran. I think he would be proud of all of us, if we could do half of what he did (or a little less than half) to raise money for wrestlers' scholarships and to celebrate his life and legacy. Helping Heroes is bringing back a Wheeling Favorite. It is the same race, with a similar mission: Supporting Local Veterans. This is a point-to-point road 10k with rolling hills. The Race starts in front of Bridge Street Middle. It turns left at the light and continues on National Road, through Elm Grove, Dimmydale, Woodsdale, all the way up to the Mount Wood Overlook. Then downhill on Stone Blvd into Chapline Street. Finishing with a turn onto 16th street in front of Helping Heroes new headquarters. Cut off time of 2.5 hours due to traffic restrictions

Great Falls Half, 10K & 5K Saturday, November 21, 2026 · Great Falls Tavern, Potomac, MD Run the C&O Canal towpath along the Potomac, starting and finishing beside Lock 20 at Great Falls Tavern. All three distances head south along the canal past Widewater, Old Angler's Inn and Carderock, then turn for home. The towpath is flat, shaded crushed stone that was built for mules and is perfect for a fast fall race. Late November is the towpath's best season: the crowds are gone, the air is cool, and with the leaves down you get long views of the river. Every runner is tracked live on Geo.Racing, so your people can follow you down the towpath and be at the line when you finish. Collect your medal, then walk the boardwalk to the Great Falls Overlook and watch the Potomac pour into Mather Gorge. Start times: Half marathon at 12:00 PM, 10K at 12:30 PM, 5K at 1:00 PM. Finish line closes at 3:00 PM. Every entry includes: a race shirt, a finisher medal, chip timing and results, aid stations on the towpath, and live GPS tracking. Stronger Together is a community-driven benefit competition that raises funds for local community members in need. This year, we’re supporting Juana Herrera Zetino, a local elementary school student battling medulloblastoma, as well as local students and families in need through the resources and outreach of USD 443’s Student & Family Engagement program. 5K & 10K will kick off at 7:30am, directly after the 10K we will host a kids 1 mile run. We are back on the Boone Greenway Trail for the 16th Annual High Country Turkey Trot! Choose from a 5K or 10K timed race or an untimed Fun Run/Walk. Taking place on Thanksgiving morning, The High Country Turkey Trot is open to competitive runners, casual joggers, walkers, and fun runners. Far from just a race, the event is fun for the entire family and includes a live DJ, photo-staging area, costumes, and a picnic shed full of food and hot drinks. NEW FOR 2026: We've updated the course route by reducing elevation gain and improving the terrain. That means less hill climbs and more stable footing! The 5K and 10K races will take you on a scenic trip over mixed terrain (gravel, grass, and paved) through the woods via The Greenway and Kennedy Trails. Official course map to revealed soon! Get your body moving with this Thanksgiving morning tradition, fire up your metabolism for the upcoming feasts, and help support the Foundation Dinners as they continue to serve the community on Lancaster's west side, a tradition they have faithfully maintained for over 30 years. The Foundation Dinners serves over 2500 meals a month enlisting the aid of over 200 volunteers from Lancaster and Fairfield County churches, organizations, businesses and industries. The Foundation Dinners provides an opportunity for these volunteers to contribute to the needs of many poverty-stricken families and individuals in our community, as well as becoming part of the broadcast system which informs the local area of the presence of hunger and homelessness amongst us.
