Take Flight Kids Dash Returns to Winterfest 2027! Ready for takeoff! Downtown Perrysburg, Inc. is excited to bring back the Take Flight Kids Dash, a free Winterfest favorite for children ages 2–10. Inspired by Perrysburg’s iconic airplane sculpture, this fun-filled dash is all about imagination, movement, and having fun. It’s not about who crosses the finish line first! It’s a great way for little ones to burn off some energy while enjoying all the winter fun at Winterfest. The dash will take place on Saturday, January 23, 2027, at 2:00 p.m. on E. Second Street between Louisiana and Elm streets. The road will close at 1:30 p.m. Look for the Dave’s Running arch, where young flyers can gather and stretch before takeoff. Children will be divided into age groups, with the youngest participants going first. Every participant will receive an airplane kit to build and enjoy, giving them a fun way to keep the spirit of Take Flight going long after the dash is over. The 2027 Timbuk Winter Run Challenge will be held again at Timbuk Farms in Granville, Ohio. All races start and finish at the Timbuk Farms Garden Center with a looped course on challenging local roads (some paved and some gravel) and through the beautiful Christmas tree farm. Participants should expect to be challenged by some hills throughout the course and chilly Ohio winter weather. Warm up afterward with your fellow participants in the greenhouse with a cup of soup and hot chocolate. There are three distances to choose from: 22 kilometers (two full loops) - 13.67 miles11 kilometers (one full loop) - 6.83 miles5K - 3.11 miles RACE START TIMES: The START of the 22K and 11K distances will be together at 1:00 PM. 12th Annual Hot Cocoa Races sponsored by Sylvania Prevention Alliance A great family event that will help chase away the winter blues! Our Hot Cocoa Races are held in partnership with Olander Park. Racing begins at 9am with staggered starts to ensure a safe start. There are multiple distances to chose from including 5K, 10K, and 1 mile. The 1 mile is a fun run that will include the roughly 1 mile loop around Olander Lake. While no awards will be given, it is a timed run or walk, particpants will still get a race shirt, and have access to the races singature hot cocoa mugs at the finish line. This race is open to anyone ages 8+. The 5K will start at the Nederhouser Building inside of Olander Park. From there participants will cross Sylvania Avenue into the Farmbrook neighborhood, run onto the University Parks Trail to McCord Road, and heading north on McCord Road and making your way through the Monarch Meadows neighborhood. Finally, particpants will cross Sylvania Avenue back into Olander Park to circle the lake and finish inside Olander Park where you started. Now, with the expanded NCAA tournament field, Dayton will host 6 games... thus, 6k instead of 4-miler for 2027! As in prior years, the Big Hoopla in Dayton is about more than just basketball; it's severall days of activities, and we tip off all the fun with the Big Hoopla 6k on Selection Sunday, March 14, 2027. For 2027, the Big Hoopla race along with the STEM Challenge returns to Wright State University. All participants receive a super soft tech tee, custom finisher medal and lots of post-race food. So, grab a friend or family member and come celebrate the excitement of March Madness with us at the Big Hoopla 6k!
