Brand new in 2026, we're heading to Sleepy Hollow in Des Moines-part of Polk County Conservation's family of parks. The Iowa Trail Run Series is not about spending a bunch of cash for no reason. You'll get a great race with clear marking and course support, with basic timing, a cool custom bib, and a rotating race item such as a BUFF, socks, a stocking cap, coffee mug, and aluminum water bottle. The 2026 RipRoar Des Moines Youth Triathlon features our standard junior, intermediate and senior division races as well as the annual legends division. Athletes aged 6-15 as of December 31, 2025 as well as all RipRoar Alumni are welcome to the starting line. The Waukee Freedom 5K is a community-wide 4th of July event. All races start and finish at Lutheran Church of Hope Waukee. This is the 43rd annual event and the only fundraiser for Troop 178. Programs within Scouting America emphasize learning, personal growth, respect, and—most importantly—service to others. Proceeds from this event help Scouts reach their Scouting goals and support their service to the people of Waukee and surrounding communities. 5K  and ~1 mile fun run/walk! This family-friendly, dog-friendly event strives to raise money for Northeast Iowa Community Action Corporation (NEICAC) and the Kids Lunch Club program. The race will begin at 8:00am and will start and end at Pulpit Rock Brewing Co. The 5K will be timed by True Time Racing Services. The 1 mile is not timed. What is a Tunnel To Towers Run & Walk? The Tunnel to Towers Run & Walk Series was created to honor the heroic life and death of Stephen Siller, a New York City firefighter (FDNY) who lost his life on September 11,2001 after strapping on his gear and running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers. Join us for a 5k Fun Run/Walk that shows off the Recreation trail in and around George, IA.  The start and finish are located in beautiful Locker Park.  Proceeds go to the improvement and maintenance of the trail system. Majority of route is on the city trail with only the first half mile on city streets. The run is on a mostly flat course with a few minor hills. Enjoy the scenery as you run on the trail through residential housing, campground, wooded area, and fields.  For those that do not want to run, we do offer a 1.25 mile (Approximate length) untimed leisurely walk. This event will start with those participating in the 5K, but will veer off and participants will then walk the north portion of the George Recreational Trail and finish at the 5k finish line. This event is for those who don't want to run/walk the entire 5K but still want to enjoy the Freedom Day Fun Run/Walk. This run honors Navy SEAL Jon Tumilson who was KIA on August 6, 2011 while serving in Afghanistan. All proceeds from the race will support Retrieving Freedom, Inc. to provide service dogs to our veterans. Navy Chief Special Warfare Operator (SEAL) Jon Thomas "JT" Tumilson was killed along with 29 other Americans and 1 service dog on August 6, 2011 when the chinook he was traveling on was shot down in Wardak Province, Afghanistan. To honor his memory, his family founded 3 Minutes Out, Inc which is a non-profit established to help active duty military, veterans, and their families through various programs. Jon had a love for life and running was one of the things he loved to do. To honor his memory his family has planned an annual 5K run and walk to encourage others to get fit no matter what their physical fitness level. The 20th Annual Elma Days 5k/10k follows the Old Roundhouse Trail and concludes just north of the water tower in Elma. There will be breakfast (included in the entry fee) and an awards presentation that will begin immediately following the race at the Memorial Hall. Join us on one of the flattest, fastest, scenic, and certified (IA 10011MF) courses in Northeast Iowa! The 10K race will start in Elma at the finish line, run out to Lylah's Marsh (3.1 miles), turn around, and run back into Elma (6.2 miles). Run, Walk, and Roll: Women of the ELCA 5K for Raising up Healthy Women and Girls The Women of the ELCA Triennial Gathering takes place every three years and gathers 1000 women leaders, participants, and newcomers for four days of worship, inspiring speakers, workshops, service projects, and more! The theme for the 2026 Triennial Gathering is "I am Worthy" focusing on Psalm 139:14 “I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Psalm 139:14 The 5K Run, Walk and Roll is a fundraiser to support the work of the Women of the ELCA health initiative, Raising Up Healthy Women and Girls. The Great Jones County 5K Fair Race – “Race Around the Fair”Get ready to run, explore, and celebrate! The Great Jones County 5K Fair Race, held in collaboration with Monticello Parks and Recreation, offers a one-of-a-kind route that winds around the fairgrounds, past the livestock barns, and along the track, giving runners an early morning's taste of fair excitement. Nordic fest is an annual 3-day summer festival held in Decorah, Iowa that celebrates community and the area’s Scandinavian heritage.  Started in 1967, Nordic fest is organized by a board of volunteers and offers food, activities and entertainment for the whole family.  The Elveløpet is held on the Saturday morning of Nordic Fest weekend.  Hailed as Decorah’s “river run” race course along the Upper Iowa river and surrounding area.  This family fun event highlights the natural beauty that Decorah has to offer.

You will be running on some old stage coach trails that will take you past the first homestead which served as the stage coach stop, church, and doctor/hospital. 2026 T-Shirt Reveal Coming Soon!!!  Grady’s Superhero Run, is a family-friendly 5k and kid’s fun run plus new this year virtual run option.  The in person run will be followed with a bounce house, kids’ games, prize giveaways and a DJ. The 13th annual Hy Noon Kiwanis Storm the Lake triathlon/duathlon is a charity event for Storm Lake Kiwanis Projects for Youth. Join other athletes at beautiful Storm Lake, IA King’s Pointe Waterpark and Resort. Swim in the protected bay, bike around the lake and run along the lake finishing at the flower lined path. All transition areas are at the waterpark. Storm Lake is considered one of the most beautiful venues for a triathlon in Iowa. The entire route is well marked with yellow vested Kiwanis volunteers cheering the athletes and providing assistance all along the way.  The triathlon is 600 m. swim in the bay, 12 mile bike and 5K run.  The duathlon is a 1 mile run, 12 mile bike and 5 K run all along the same race area as the triathlon. A Splash and Dash is a fun and fast-growing sport that combines swimming and running. The TRI Clear Lake Splash & Dash is a participatory event for kids ages 7-15 with an emphasis on creating a fun family weekend of multisport and fitness.  As an official part of the USA Triathlon Youth Aquathlon Series. Every participant will receive a finisher medal, Parents are encouraged to cheer on their kids as they move through the course and finish under the same arch as the adult racers.  The race will be held Friday, August 28th at 6:30pm.  Athletes will be staged by age with the oldest going off first. Race Start Time: Our 5K race will start at 8:00am and the 1 mile family fun run will begin at 8:30am.  There is a map below of where we'll be and where you can park for the race.Race Course: We will be having a simple down and back, starting off to the West, along the Davenport river trail.  There will be an aid station, signs, and an optional game at the turnaround spot.  You won't miss it!Results/Awards: This is a timed race and your results will be available online immediately following the race.Post-Race: Feel free to stay around as long as you wish after the race.  We will have music, plenty of food and drinks including cinnamon roll pancakes, and various games for you to be able to enjoy.  You’ll also have an opportunity to hear briefly from a few of our teens about how Young Life Davenport has impacted them!

The Hero Hustle was created in 2016 as a way to raise money to help support the men and women of the Delaware County fire, ambulance, and law enforcement departments. To date, through the participation of our athletes and the generous contributions of our sponsors, the Hero Hustle has been able to give over $77,000 to the people that are always there to save, serve and protect us. The Hero Hustle welcomes all athletes of all abilities. The goal is to get active, have a good time, and raise money for a good cause! The race is a sprint distance triathlon comprised of a 400yd swim, a 16 mile bike ride, and a 5K run to wrap it up. The swim course will be held in Schram Pond. The bike course is out on a public highway and has rolling hills for most of the course. The run course will be mostly flat, with athletes only having to tackle one hill...at least you get to turn around and run back down it though! THE CAPITAL PURSUIT Capital Pursuit is Capital Strider's premier 10-mile race that takes participants through the best parts of the City of Des Moines. 2026 marks the event's 44th year of racing, make sure not to miss one of Des Moines' longest-running traditions! The Capital Striders are a member of the Road Runners Club of America, which promotes the development of community-based running clubs and events in the pursuit of health and competition for all ages.
