Making the Miles is a physical and virtual motivation community where you work towards running or walking 1000 miles in a year. No matter where you are, keep yourself moving all year long to hit your mileage goals and earn some prizes along the way! You will be admitted into the private Garmin group where you can see the leaderboard and compete with people around you, or just use it to motivate yourself to keep climbing!  Pick up some awesome running essentials along the way as you reach milestones, and if you sign up before March 31, you’ll receive a special prize just for signing up! Prizes are awarded at 250, 500, and 750 miles, and if you hit 1,000 miles, you’ll earn the super-massive-amazing Fleet Feet belt buckle!

Sigma 10 Week Activity wellness challenge. As we continue to age, being fit has a multitude of benefits.  Living a healthier life increases daily happiness, productivity, concentration, sexual performance and decreases the likelihood of illness. We have put together a 10-week challenge that will start on Sunday, March 22nd and ending on Saturday, May 30th, 2026.  The goal is to go from forming a habit, to making your complete active lifestyle. Each week all participants that log and complete at least 150 minutes of activity will be entered into a drawing for a gift card. The goal is for us to be “active” for 150 minutes per week.  This can be achieved by working out in a gym or home (your choosing of the type), outdoors activities, household chores, yard work, videos, in-person/virtual training, etc … your choice.    The fee is $30 and sign-up ends on Sunday, March 29th.  Early Crescent signup will be honored through February 28th with a fee of $19.14. The half marathon will be on the Mahaska County Recreation Trail all around Oskaloosa with a little bit of the running on the streets.  UPDATE: The race will begin by the new Lacey Complex Stadium. This will allow for more parking and better central location for the meet. We will follow the path down and around the city of Oskaloosa. The course is hilly, but full of a lot of beautiful scenery. The race will begin and end by the community stadium for your convenience.  The Mahaska County Sheriff's Reserves will be hosting our third Pot of Gold Shared Half Marathon and 5K. Proceeds go towards a scholarship for a male and female runner, and the rest of the funds will go to support other reserve funding projects for Mahaska County. We will give medals to the top 3 individuals Male and Female in each age division in the half marathon and 5k. All finishers will receive a finisher medal. This is the 14th annual Team Red Shamrock Trail Challenge to benefit Red Shamrock Foundation (RSF). We are returning again to Coralville Creekside Park with a 5K and 10 mile distance. 5K awards ceremony will begin around 10:00 AM and the 10 mile awards will start around 11:15. Madison County Youth Council is hosting a 4K fun run at the Madison County Fairgrounds on Saturday, April 11th. The race route will begin at the 4-H Food Stand with a race start time of 9:00 AM. Registration for each participant is $20. Registration before March 21st guarantees an event t-shirt.

The Ann Rehan Goebel Foundation was established to honor the life of Ann Rehan Goebel, MD, a Sioux City pediatrician who passed away from a brave battle with cancer on February 20, 2023. Ann loved being a doctor and helping people – and she did it with her own brand of care and personality. She wove a deeply human element into her medical practice, creating unforgettable connections with her patients and colleagues. When Ann passed away from cancer in 2023, her family and friends felt like her life’s work wasn’t done yet. That’s how the Ann Rehan Goebel Foundation was formed. Our annual Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) scholarship is inspired by Ann’s passion for the field and sharing her gifts with others. By helping students realize these similar aspirations, we will keep Ann’s spirit alive. This 5K helps support the ARG Foundation mission locally.

Let us show off Kuehn Conservation on Saturday morning April 18th! The 5K trail race will take you through the prairie trails along the upland areas, as well as the woods and prairies along the Racoon River bottom within the park.  Hosted by the Adel Rotary Club, the race proceeds help fund their local service projects.  Kuehn Conservation was established in 1982 by The Dallas County Conservation Board, and now encompasses over 1000 acres along the Raccoon River in Dallas County.  Archeological evidence shows this area has been enjoyed by humans for thousands of years, from the Woodland and Great Oasis traditions, to modern day humans. Now a county park, you can enjoy the trails that take you through native and restored prairie, woodland, and floodplain along the Raccoon River.  The race starts at 9am and is 100% single and double track trail loop through the park.

Kick off the 2026 racing season with Clear Lake's Earth Day Youth Mile, 5K & 10K races on Saturday, April 18th. The Youth Mile will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K & 10K races will begin at 9 a.m. Youth Mile participants will make 3 loops around City Park, finishing by the seawall. The 5K & 10K races begin lakeside at the Main Avenue boat ramp. Runners will make one loop around City Park before heading out along South Shore Drive. Once runners reach the designated 5K or 10K turnaround, they'll head back toward City Park, turning left at Main Avenue to finish in front of the Lady of the Lake. The Phoenix Phase Initiative is an Iowa-based 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to helping women who have been sexually trafficked around the world. These women are rarely given a chance to escape and, when they do get the chance, they RUN for it! The Phoenix Phase Initiative is there so they have a place to run to where they can be accepted, receive counseling, and learn job skills so they can break the cycle and create new lives for themselves and their children. The TriByKnight Triathlon, now in its 15th year, was the first triathlon in the Waverly area and already is one of the most popular early season events in the region. The Iowa Hope Run is a movement that brings together survivors, families, friends, and supporters from Iowa and beyond to raise awareness and funds for brain tumor research, advocacy, and patient support. This event has spent more than a decade building a strong, compassionate community rooted in Central Iowa. As we grow, our new name reflects what has always been true—hope knows no boundaries. While proudly Iowa-based, the Iowa Hope Run welcomes participants from anywhere who are united by a shared mission: supporting those affected by brain tumors and working toward a future without them. Racers 9 and under can register for the Kids' Fun Run. This race will not be professionally timed, but medals will be given for the top three finishers for boys and girls. Registration will include a t-shirt and race packet. Kids' Fun Run will begin at 8:45 a.m. While we encourage family and friends of melanoma warriors to walk/run together as a team, and wear a team t-shirt to honor a loved one who has battled this disease, you do not need to register as a team. All registrations are individual- see you on race day! The race starts at 9:15 a.m. at the Peosta Community Center and ends at the Peosta Community Center.  When you register before May 11, the entry fee is $25.  This includes an event t-shirt (For sixes 2XL, add $2). Onsite registration begins at 8:00am and ends at 8:30 a.m.  Late entries and same day registration cost is $30 and an event shirt is not guaranteed for the late entries. The Iowa Trail Run Series is not about spending a bunch of cash for no reason. You'll get a great race with clear marking and course support, with basic timing, a cool custom bib, and a rotating race item such as a BUFF, socks, a stocking cap, coffee mug, and aluminum water bottle.
