Run to the "MAX" for Mental Health

Gadsden, AL
Run to the "MAX" for Mental Health is a 5k trail run / fun walk at the Noccalula Falls Black Creek Trails in Gadsden, Al on May 9th, 2026. The run is being held to support the nonprofit organization MAXimizing Mental Health, Inc. that is named after our son Max Cochran, a young man who took his own life at age 19. Max was a beautiful, vibrant, loving, person that “lit up” the entire room every time he would walked in one. Unknown too many people, Max fought for many years to defeat his struggles with mental illness and was a very strong willed person that tried many different ways to overcome his personal battles. In the end life became more than he could endure. We want to bring awareness and remove the stigma of Mental Illness in our community, especially in our youth, and raise money so we can offer free Mental Health counseling to our community students. Awards to be presented after the race. 7:00 am - 7:50 Race Day Registration!! 8:00 am Start Time!! NOTE: Participants can

Cheaha Challenge Gran Fondo

Jacksonville, AL
The Cheaha Challenge Gran Fondo is a ride for all cyclists, no matter your experience level in the sport.  This ride has a bit of everything from the ULTRA course that features 126 miles of the toughest terrain around, down to the traditional 100, 84, 62, 44 and 24 mile routes on the Challenge course and the 50,25 and 12 mile options for the Chief Ladiga Cruise.  Some of those distances offer the chance to ride up Mount Cheaha, the highest point in the state of Alabama.   The ride started as a recreational ride that riders would participate in with the goal of racing the course to get a fast time, while others would start with the singular goal of simply finishing.  The ride still offers those opportunities to this day, but they are a bit more defined than it was in 1993.  There is a competitive aspect to the ride with both the UCI Gran Fondo World Series and Gran Fondo National Series affiliations to qualify for the UCI World Championships and USA Cycling Gran Fondo National Champions
