The 48th annual Ogden Newspapers Half Marathon Classic Run and Walk will be on Saturday, May 23. This challenging course is well known for its changes in elevation. The Half Marathon Run and Walk will have prize categories (for male and female) for the Open division. Race towels, bottled water and fresh fruit will be available for participants. We're very excited to announce a Seneca Rocks fun run on Sunday, May 24, 2026! The run will take place during Fourest Festival, is 3km long, downhill in elevation, and mostly on gravel. The starting place is "behind" Seneca, at Fourth Moon Camp and the finish line is at the Seneca Rocks Discovery Center. The run features a course along Roy Gap Road, which passes between the towering quartzite ridges of Seneca Rocks and crosses over the legendary Potomac River.

The Ohio Valley Trail Partners presents the 19th annual tour of the Wheeling Heritage Trail on Sunday, May 24th. The Big Timber Trot 10K and 6K returns on May 25 in Kanawha State Forest for a scenic and challenging trail race directed by the same experienced team that has hosted races in the forest for years. This event is one of two races held annually in the park and reflects our continued commitment to delivering high quality, well organized trail running experiences. One of our original races is back and moving to the wilds of West Virginia! The 2026 edition of Brake the Habit will take place in Pocahontas County WV, over the course of 24 to 30 hours. Teams of 2-4 people will trek, packraft, mountain bike and navigate their way through a course that explores this amazing and unique corner of the state.  With the highest concentration of public land in the state—dominated by the mighty and vast Monongahela National Forest, 400 miles of trails, extensive backcountry and wilderness, legendary mountain biking, and free-flowing rivers—teams can expect a course that is rugged, and relatively remote for a race of this length. And the scenery? Some of the best on the eastern seaboard. Pocahontas County is known as nature’s playground for a reason. The 12th Annual South Charleston Chamber of Commerce Wellness 5K Run/Walk will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2026. The 5K will start and end in Oakes Field in South Charleston. This is a flat course throughout the downtown area of South Charleston. Registration will take place at Oakes Field starting at 8:00am. 5K Run begins at 9am; Walkers begin shortly after 9am.

In loving memory of Buffy Bonwell. Children’s Home Society needs your support. On May 30th, 2026, we are hosting our third annual 5k fundraiser at the University of Charleston. The Children’s Home Society has been serving children and families for over 129 years. Today, we have 13 primary locations and 28 physical locations to provide adoption, foster care, and emergency shelter care statewide. Our goal is to raise funds that will assist the needs of the children at the Davis Child Shelter and in our Foster Care and Adoption Program. The 5K run/walk race will be hosted at the University of Charleton.  Water stations will be set up for the convenience of the participants.

The West Virginia Cryptid Race Series is a West Virginia–based running series inspired by the state’s legendary cryptids and the unique locations they are said to roam. 10 Miles // 1,000' of Elevation GainThe 10 Mile course encompasses a little something for everyone. The first four miles are truly a woodsman's dream as the course takes the runner through deep woods and prime single track. The end of the fourth mile culminates in the arrival of the river trail and the first hydration station. The river trail is both fast and flat. The river trail follows the Guyandotte River for 2.5 miles and will exit to the second aid station. The final 3.5 miles is primarily flat with only one challenging hill to traverse. Once uphill, breathtaking scenery awaits, as the trail overlooks the valley portion of Barboursville Park. The last eight tenths of a mile are downhill to the finish. 4 Miles // 450' of Elevation GainThe course for the 4 Miler will be the first 4 miles of the 10 miler. The Union Farmer’s Day 5k, 10k and 1 mile Fun Walk is back  to kick start your Saturday Farmer’s Day festivities! The race begins on Main Street in Union, WV and proceeds to Willow Bend Road to return to the finish line back on Main Street. This year proceeds will benefit the Fred Walker Memorial Fund. Each June, the CAMC Foundation holds the CAMC Foundation Run for Your Life 5-Mile Run/2.5-Mile Walk. All proceeds from the event benefit colorectal cancer awareness and screening initiatives to help people who cannot otherwise afford critical screening procedures in our community. Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer, and the second deadliest in both men and women combined in the United States.  The 5 mile run and 2.5 mile walk begins at Haddad Riverfront Park, takes runners and walkers through the streets of Charleston and returns to the park to finish. Giving Back Since 2011 The Derek Hotsinpiller Fallen Stars 5K is held annually to honor those law enforcement officers across this country who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty while following their call to serve and protect our communities.  We hope you can join us to help reach our goal of over 1500 participants this year.  Revenue generated from the race is entrusted to the Hotsinpiller Foundation to provide scholarships for those who wish to pursue or enhance their law enforcement career, support local law enforcement agencies and their mission, and assist injured officers and their families.

The 10th Annual Dash for Diabetes 5k Run/Walk put on by Coplin Health Systems Diabetes Initiative will be on June 13th at 8:30 a.m. at Riverfront Park in Ravenswood, WV. The 10k Race is the RRCA Eastern Regional 10k Championship. The course for the 10k run is a fully paved, certified 2 loop course. The race will begin on 20th street, beside the Parkersburg High School Fiel House and will end od the Track in PHS Stadium Field. The course has two water stops, and Medical Personnel Available at the finish line. The course is a two-loop course and mostly flat.    The Two-Mile Run/Walk Starts and Finishes At the same places the 10k does. It is a one loop course with a turn around on Washington Street.

This is a sensory friendly, inclusive, untimed, FUN RUN! Anyone that completes the entire course will receive an award. There will be several color stations throwing bright powder, a foam station, and bubble stations! This year is our 21st year anniversary celebration and we will be throwing Augusta Levy a birthday party prior to the race from 3-5 PM. We will have inflatables, balloon animals, face painting, music, and more! The race itself begins at 5 PM. The route will begin at the waterfront and cut onto the trail to avoid any roadwork and construction. The 2026 Greater Clarksburg 10K is back for its 30th year! We are excited to have everyone back this year and need your help to reach our goal of 500 race participants. Come join us for a Run for Snacks 5K Race & Kids Fun Run. The race begins at the Alderson Memorial Football Field and follows a scenic route through the heart of historic Alderson. The historic Town of Bath (Berkeley Springs), WV 250 years birthday celebration 5K Race will be on Saturday, July 4, 2026, starting at 9:00am.  The race will begin at the north end of town at the Train Depot.  The course will wind its way through the town, including through Berkeley Springs State Park--America's First Spa.  Runners will finish the 3.10 mile journey at the same Train Depot.

Ripley, WV is the home of America’s Largest Small-Town 4th of July Celebration.  For 28 years, the Main Street Firecracker race has been a part of this celebration kicking off immediately before the Grand Parade.This year we have rebranded to the Gene Groves Memorial Firecracker 2-miler, to celebrate the life of the race’s founder and main supporter.  For 25 years, Gene and his family have celebrated the runners in our community, volunteering hours and resources to make this fast, mostly flat 2-mile course along the city streets a centerpiece of our patriotic celebrations.  Overall male and female runners will receive trophies and a $100 cash prize.  Top three finishers in each age bracket will receive medals.  There will be special recognitions for the oldest  and youngest runners, most patriotic, best dressed, and farthest travelled.

5K Run/Walk event to kick off the Elizabeth-Wirt Volunteer Fire Department Ice Cream Social.

The race was started in 2011 by a local firefighter, Andy Nestor to provide free athletic shoes to local students in need.  The success of the program was overwhelming.  River City Runners and Walkers Club coordinate with local school nurses to identify children in need of quality athletic shoes but financially unable to get the shoes. The program is 100% free. Our mission is to motivate children to get outside and move, maybe join a sports team or just run and play.  We hope to change the image of West Virginia from an unhealthy, sedentary lifestyle to an active, healthy culture starting with our future - the children of WV and surrounding areas.  To date RCRW have given out hundreds of athletic shoes since 2011.  Help us continue this amazing program by supporting the K4K night race this year! THE RACE STARTS WITH A .5 MILE SWIM IN SUMMIT LAKE, FOLLOWED BY A 17.1 MILE BIKE RIDE OVER KENNISON MOUNTAIN (ELEVATION OF 3,988 FEET) TO THE CRANBERRY MOUNTAIN NATURE CENTER. THE RACE CONCLUDES WITH A 6.2 MILE RUN DOWN TO THE CRANBERRY GLADES AND BACK TO THE CRANBERRY MOUNTAIN NATURE CENTER TO THE FINISH LINE.
