Welcome to the Meeks Mountain Muddy Mutt a West Virginia Mountain Trail Runners Event to benefit the Hurricane Police Department K9 Unit.  Join us on Saturday, March 21st for the annual Meeks Mountain Muddy Mutt 15K Trail Race.  All proceeds go to support the K9 unit of the Hurricane Police Department.   Race Details:Packet pickup is from 7:30 - 8:30 am on Saturday, March 15th, at the Big Red Barn located at Hurricane City Park.  All race participants can pick up their packets at that time.  There will be signs directing you to the packet pickup as well as the start line. Bathrooms are available in the park, and portable restrooms will be available at the Start/Finish. The race will begin in the bowl.  You will cross the train tracks, so beware and be careful.  Plan for an extra 15 minutes to walk to the packet pickup/start/finish line. The Great Greenbrier River Race

New River Gorge Rim to Rim Race

The New River Gorge Rim to Rim Race is a running road race from one rim of the New River Gorge, down to the bottom where you'll cross over the New River, then back to the rim of the other side with a short trail section to finish. This bucket list event will provide runners with breathtaking views throughout the course in the adventure sports capital of West Virginia - Fayetteville. This event is hosted by Active Southern West Virginia at Adventures on the Gorge, where racers will finish at the resorts rim side pool to enjoy a catered brunch overlooking the New River Gorge. The distance is 6 miles. Brunch is included in the registration.  The race course will begin on the south side of Fayette Station Road and finish at Adventures on the Gorge. The Tunnel to Towers Run & Walk Series was created to honor the heroic life and death of Stephen Siller, a New York City firefighter (FDNY) who lost his life on September 11, 2001, after strapping on his gear and running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers. Cpl. Fulks Memorial Trail Race

Hurricane, WV
The Cause The proceeds from this race will contribute to a scholarship fund in honor of Cpl. William B. Fulks and support this local Marine Corps League Detachment in its pursuit to serve veterans of our community. This trail event is an annual tribute to this local hero who was assigned to the 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.   On May 1, 2006, Cpl. Fulks was wounded while conducting combat operations in Anbar Province, Iraq by an improvised explosive device (IED) which detonated beneath his Humvee near Fallujah.  The blast inflicted second and third degree burns along with internal injuries. Cpl. The Middle Ridge Monster is a FREE WVMTR Club Event! This is meant to be a social event that encompasses the true spirit of old school ultra running. There won't be 17 different flavors of Doritos, or gluten free/vegan/no-gmo/sugar free/low carb/organic/fair trade/local sourced pretzels. Just trail runners having a good time.  Runners will be able to access their vehicles at the end of each loop and will be able to get any additional food/aid needed.  It is an 8 hour event. If someone is trying for a distance PR, or wants to get their first ultra, this event is for you. If someone wants to come out and only run for 2 hours, you are welcome. There are no cut-offs. The only finish line is the one you create for yourself. Come hang out with us fine WVMTR folks.  This is a WVMTR Club Event that has no registration fee, but participants must register on RunSignUp so there is an e-signed waiver and emergency information available. The 6th Annual Parsons VFD Cheat River Triathlon will be on May 16, 2026.  The course has been laid out and will be as follows. Mill Race Park in Parsons will be The starting point you will run 3.9 miles to Hendricks Park. At that point, you will Kayak or Canoe 3 + miles back to Mill Race Park.
