Join us as we come together to raise awareness for Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC) and provide financial support to a local family facing the overwhelming medical costs associated with managing this, stage 4 disease. Our annual 5K Walk will be held on Saturday, October 24th from 10:00 AM–1:00 PM at Sam Michael’s Park in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Registration opens at 9:00 AM. Each year, 230,000 Americans are diagnosed with breast cancer, and 6–10% of those diagnoses are metastatic, or stage 4. Vandalia Health Mon Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital will have the 2nd Color Run to benefit the Hospital Oncology Clinic on Saturday, October 24 at 9 am at WVU Jackson's Mill Airstrip. During the color run, if choosing, participants can be doused with non-toxic colors as a fun component to the walk/run. The extra monies will benefit the Oncology Clinic in the form of gas and food cards to be used by patients in need of some extra support.

Join us at Meeks Mountain Trails for another outdoor education event as Wings & Wander returns for a special fall birdwatching experience! This beginner-friendly birding event will be led by Michelle Platt and Laura Boggess of the Handlan Chapter of the Brooks Bird Club in Charleston. Fall is a great time to explore the trails and learn more about the birds that live in our area as well as those moving through during their seasonal migration. We’ll meet at 5:30 PM at the Big Red Barn at Hurricane City Park. Michelle and Laura will begin with a short, informal introduction to birding, including tips for getting started, identifying common birds, understanding fall migration, and using helpful tools and resources for new birders. After a brief Q&A, we’ll head out on the trails for a guided bird walk and put what we’ve learned into practice. Whether you’re brand new to birding, interested in learning more, or simply looking for a reason to spend a fall evening outdoors, this is a great opportunity to learn, explore, and connect with nature. Join us on Saturday, October 31st at 9:00 A.M @ Monongah Park for a fun trail run along the West Fork River as we show off our Halloween spirit and support local juvenile justice. This race is hosted by the Marion County Teen Court, which has been active for over 20 years and continues to serve juveniles and their families by providing resources to divert them from the court system. Teen Court relies on teen volunteers to fill roles in the courtroom and carry out the sentencing process of our program. Juveniles that come through our system have the opportunity to serve the community, connect with community based resources, and learn about their behavior in a more holistic way. The proceeds will help support the events for our volunteers, our program workers, and external resources we use to further the effectiveness of our program. Snacks and drinks will be available for those in attendance, along with T-Shirts for the first 50 participants registered!

Race Date: 31 October 2026 Race Starts at 8:30 AM Location: North Bend State Park 202 N Bend State Park, Cairo, WV 26337 Course Description: Runners will be running on the main road through the park, beginning and ending at the North Bend State Park service lot. Runners will go down the main road, around the Picnic Shelter 1 and 2 loop, back onto the main road where they will continue past the pool, River Run Campground, across the bridge towards Picnic Shelter 3. When they reach the gravel parking lot at Picnic Shelter 3, they will turn around, and run the course back the way they came, including the Shelter 1 and 2 loop, and end at the park service lot.

Welcome to the fifth annual 5Katie! The 5Katie event is a 10K and 5K+ trail run, along with a 2K untimed walk, created to raise awareness and support for pediatric cancer. In memory of Katie Cobb, and in partnership with the West Virginia Kids Cancer Crusaders, all profits will benefit care and treatment of children with cancer. Join us on Saturday, November 7th on the Meeks Mountain Trails in Hurricane, West Virginia for the fifth annual 5Katie! Race Details: Packet pickup is from 7:30 - 8:45 am on Saturday, November 7th at the big red barn at the front of Hurricane City Park. All race participants can pick up their packets at that time. There will be signs directing you to the packet pickup, as well as to the start line. The race start/finish line will be by the shelter in the “bowl”, located across the train tracks (be aware, and be careful). We will have volunteers stationed at packet pickup and along the way to guide you to the bowl. Please plan for an extra 15 minutes to walk to the start/finish line. Bathrooms are available in Hurricane City Park, and portable restrooms will be available at the start/finish area. Water and sports drink aid stations will be available along the course and we will have post-race refreshments located at the shelter in the bowl. Race Distances: Please note these are trail races, and distances are not exact. The 5k course is a 5k+ course. The 5k course is close to 4 miles from start to finish. The 10k course is approximately 6.1 miles from start to finish. The 2k walk is approximately 1 mile long. As with all trail races, GPS watch readings may vary from the official course distance due to terrain and satellite accuracy. Please refer to course markings for the most accurate information on race day. Overall Awards: The 5K and 10K is a competitive race with awards for overall 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place male and female. The Coopers Rock Climb-a-thon is fun and friendly top rope climbing competition that factors in both difficulty and 'mileage' on the rock over three hours of climbing time. The event is planned and executed by our Program Planning & Management class as a fundraiser to benefit the students of the Outdoor Leadership & Adventure Education degree program at Garrett College. Prizes are awarded not only to the top climbers, but even more importantly to the top fundraisers in the event. Upon registration, each participant receives one ticket in the prize drawing on the day of the event, as well as one ticket for each additional $100 dollars raised. The more you raise, the more you win! Past events have distributed thousands of dollars of prizes including climbing ropes and harnesses, carabiners and belay devices, gift certificates to restaurants, lodging and guided outdoor adventures...and much more! Upon registration for the event, participants will receive the opportunity to create an online fundraising page to assist in their fundraising efforts. Fundraising is optional but greatly appreciated! Whether you're new to trail running or a seasoned ultrarunner, Behemoth has plenty of great trails, big climbs, and community to share them with. And keep your eyes open . . . you never know what big forest friends you might meet along the way! This is a WVMTR event, and all are welcome to join in on the fun—membership is NOT required! Date, Time, & Location The inaugural Behemoth 50k & 25k will take place on Saturday, November 14, 2026, beginning at 7:30am, in the Greenbrier State Forest in Caldwell, WV, ten minutes east of Lewisburg and five minutes west of White Sulphur Springs. 1541 Harts Run Rd, Caldwell, WV 24925* *GPS will follow this address to the race start Course Overview Behemoth consists of two overlapping but distinct 25k loops—the Young's Nature Loop and the Rocky Ridge Loop—both of which feature flowy singletrack, fast gravel roads, and a beastly climb up the mountain. 25k runners should expect about 2,425 feet of total elevation gain, while 50k runners will gain nearly 5,200 feet. Young's Nature Loop (25k Course & 50k Loop 1) The Young’s Nature Loop begins with a fast gravel run before turning right onto the Mabel Dowdy Trail. Runners follow Mabel Dowdy to its junction with Hart’s Run Road, cross the road, and hop onto Young’s Nature Trail for a brief climb up to The Holler. A local favorite, The Holler’s singletrack ebbs and flows before runners turn toward Black Bear Trail. A punchy climb and fun descent off Black Bear leads to Old Fields Trail, where runners hit a loop of bike trails packed with runnable switchbacks on the way down to the Playground Aid Station at Mile 6. Leaving Playground, runners loop around the YCC Trail before picking up Hart’s Run Road and following it to the disc golf course at the bottom of Old Fields. From there, the course climbs alongside the disc golf course to the junction of Old Fields and Young’s Nature Trail, where the real work begins: a 1,200-foot climb up Kate’s Mountain. Once at the top, runners follow the rolling gravel road to the Overlook Aid Station at Mile 11.5 for fuel and a view. Continuing along the gravel road, runners turn left at the orange gate marking the start of their 3.5-mile descent along harvest roads and singletrack back to the Start/Finish, where 25k runners earn their finisher awards and 50k runners get ready to take on the Rocky Ridge Loop. Rocky Ridge Loop (50k Loop 2) The Rocky Ridge Loop takes no prisoners. Retracing the route runners just descended, runners trek up Old Roads Trail to its junction with Rocky Ridge. From there, runners tackle Kate's Mountain once more, this time by way of an even steeper 1,200-foot climb. Back on Kate's Mountain Road, runners find some welcome reprieve with their friends at the Overlook Aid Station (Mile 18) before returning to the orange gate and heading right onto Holsapple Trail. Holsapple brings runners back to Kate's Mountain Road near its junction with Young's Nature Trail, where they begin the long descent down the mountain. At the bottom, runners turn onto Old Fields and follow the mountain bike loop back to the Playground Aid Station at Mile 23.5. Leaving Playground for the final time, runners follow the 25k course along YCC Trail to Hart’s Run Road, past the disc golf course, and up Old Fields until back at Young's Nature Trail. At the junction with Young’s, runners veer onto Black Bear before winding their way through The Holler and Twin Pines to Hart’s Run Road. After crossing the road, runners pick up a short stretch of gravel before entering Mabel Dowdy Trail for one final loop of singletrack. From there, it’s a smooth gravel run to the finish—the end of the Behemoth. Aid Stations Fuel and friends will be available at three different aid stations: Start/Finish (Mile 15.5)Playground (Miles 6 & 23.5)Overlook (Miles 11.5 & 18) All aid stations will have water and electrolytes, along with light aid station fare. We are here to support you however we can! Because this is a free event, however, runners are asked to bring their own fuel if they can—50k runners will be able to access their vehicles in between loops for whatever they need. This year's North Peak Performance Turkey Trot 5k walk/run is being held at 10am on Saturday, November 21st in Mannington. The race will be MOVED THIS YEAR! November 22, 2026 at the Wayne High School Track. Registration start at 12:30PM, races start at 2PM. Our second race, but inaugural turkey run! Please read carefully, because it's going to be a little different from our spring race. For this run, we're seeing how many miles we can complete together AS A WHOLE. KIDS CHOOSE THE DISTANCE! (But race within their age group.) We will still be running the heats by age group so an ambitious four year old isn't taking on a twelve year old. However, within each age group, kids choose how far they want to run. Ages 3-4 50 yards race or 100 yards race Ages 5-6 100 yards race or 200 meters Ages 7-9; 10-13 200 meters race or 400 meter Mile Challenge- Open to all of the age groups, racers can opt to run/walk a mile after the shorter heats are finished. We will add everyone's distances together and see how many miles we can complete, as a goal to beat next year. Similarly to our spring run, this is a free event. The only cost is a donation if you so choose to make one, and a shirt if you so choose to order one. The design is the logo. Shirts are $12 for youth and $15 for adult. This year, donations will go to Ronald McDonald House Charities. Aside from online donations, there will be a race day option to donate money or aluminum tabs (pop tabs). We will have water (or hot chocolate if it's cold), music, and finishing medals for all participants. It is important that this race is inclusive, so if you have a child with a disability and this is something they are interested in, please just message me and we will brainstorm accommodations to make it work. Thanksgiving Day Half Marathon and 5k on Thursday, November 26. The race will take place at Southern WV Community and Technical College in Williamson, West Virginia. The Half marathon runs through 2 states - West Virginia and Kentucky. The half marathon starts from the community college and runs along a neighborhood/school and onto the river path and comes out on Armory road. After that, it comes out on US 52 and up towards watertower hill. You turn left facing traffic as you enter on US 119 North for 7.45 miles. There you cross traffic and run down US 119 South towards Fairview Addition and finish back at the community college. 5k race starts from the community college and runs along the same neighborhood/school and onto the river path and comes out on Armory road and goes straight towards the waterstop turnaround point. From there, you come running back towards the community college. You do not run back on the river path. One mile walk is a down and back course. Go half a mile down and back. Start from the community college and walk .50 down and come back.

Join Morgantown Running at 9:00am on Thanksgiving Day for a trot around Morgantown with your family (but please, leave your dogs at home as they are not allowed). Participants can run or walk this 5k course that begins on the blue track by the WVU Coliseum. You will run almost an entire lap around the track before exiting and making a left onto Mon Blvd where you will go downhill, past Mountain State, towards the light. At the light, you will make a right turn onto Boyers Avenue followed shortly by a left turn onto Leeway Street. You will pass Sheetz and then make a left onto the rail trail. The last approximately 2 miles will be on the rail trail heading to the finish behind the Seneca Center at Morgantown Running. There will be awards for the top 3 male and female finishers and the top male and female 5k walkers. Please remember, if you sign up to walk you can only walk, no running! If you want to do both, please sign up for the run. There will also be random drawings for prizes from Morgantown Running. The first 1000 people registered will receive a pair of socks. Kids under 12 are more than welcome to register for the 5k, or they can run in the 800m Turkey Fun Run at 8:30am. This race is 2 laps around the blue track (where the 5k begins) and will be done in 2 heats. What better way to start your Thanksgiving Day than with a little morning run/walk? Come out for the United Way of the Eastern Panhandle Turkey Trot 5k. All ages welcome! The 5k will be on the property of James Rumsey Technical Institute and include trail, grass, and pavement that is mostly flat with some gentle hills. Give Thanks, Give Back by bringing a donation for the local backpack programs. Donations will be collected in the registration area and distributed to local backpack programs to be distributed with the holiday backpacks. Any proceeds from the event will be used for youth focused initiatives. Show your Turkey Trot spirit! Come out in festive attire! Race will be run rain or shine! Our 15th Annual Drumstick Dash 5K starts on Thanksgiving morning, November 26th, 2026 at 9AM. Registration includes a Race T-Shirt up until Monday, November 9th at 11:59PM. After that date, shirts will be available as supplies last. Our race motto is “Shuffle your feet so others can eat!” We encourage participants to bring as much canned food and nonperishable food as possible. Dress warm, but feel free to dress up in costume!
