This event is designed for everyone who wants to share their love of unpaved bicycle adventures, whether you are lining up to prove your best possitble time or just riding for the love of the gravel. Located at the beautiful Lofer’s Bend Day Use Area along the shores of Lake Whitney, this is primo gravel that is just a stone's throw for riders in DFW, Waco, and Austin—and well worth the drive if you are coming from further out! The Perks: Post-Ride Celebration: Marked routes with after-ride food and drinks for all participants. Club Spinistry Member Benefits: Untimed options are FREE for current members, and all annual members save at least $55 on the timed 80-mile route ( balance is for timing reimbursement). Carbon and Titanium Members receive free entry to the 80 mile route.. Camping: Group camping spots are limited, and nearby lakeside tent camping fills up fast. Message useserve your spot early! Recognition Awards are based on registration numbers. Every single rider is considered a Champion of Gravel. Highlighted recognition for: Minimum of Top 3 times Overall and Top Female. Gender-based recognition (3 deep) if there is a minimum of 10 participants in that gender category (age/gender categories to be adjusted as needed). Age/Gender-based recognition if there is a minimum of 10 racers in a specific age/gender group. Rules & Safety Regulations: Riders are expected to adhere to the Texas Traffic Code at all times. Please read the following rules carefully before registering. Category Protests: In the event of a results protest concerning a participant's registered gender category, organizers will default to the gender listed on the rider's official Texas State ID. If the participant in question cannot produce a valid State ID at the time the protest is filed, the protest will be automatically granted. The Finish Line: For safety reasons, the finish chute is configured to NOT allow for a sprint finish. The timed distance is treated as a mass-start time trial. Earn your spot out on the course, not by sitting on a wheel and saving your legs for the last 100 yards. Note: Riders finishing within one second of each other will be awarded identical times. Important: Number Plate Mounting! Thanks to our friend Dylan Johnson doing the math, it is now a REQUIREMENT that all timed riders properly mount their number plates. Failure to do so will result in a time penalty. Proper Mounting: On the handlebars or cables, facing straight forward with numbers clearly visible. Not Allowed: Wrapping it around the head tube, stuffing it in a pocket or bar bag, or mounting it sideways on your frame/fork. The Penalty: An improperly mounted plate will cost you the greater of 5 minutes per 100 miles (5-minute minimum for shorter routes) OR however long it takes us to chase you down and manually identify you. Equipment & Drafting: Aero Bars: Comfort/aero/gravel bars are permitted for all riders. (Since everyone has the option to use them, the aero benefit more than offsets our strict number plate rules!) Drafting: Permitted. However, no pack/group riding outside of what is explicitly allowed by the Texas Transportation Code. E-Bikes: Permitted but will not be timed. We kindly ask that e-bike riders to not lead bridging efforts for acoustic/traditional riders. The registration fees cover a trial membership for non members on event day. Here/s the skinny, for $35 you get a guided and marked 3ish mile run/walk plus three tasty brews from Saint Arnold Brewing Company, a pint glass and a Texas Tamale Company breakfast! Check in at the Saucer between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM and we run/walk at 9:00 AM and when we get back, we'll eat, drink and celebrate Saint Arnold, raise a toast and crush some tamales and enjoy great times at the Flying Saucer too! The 30 mile race will take roughly a little over 2 hours to finish and has roughly 1,500 feet of technical climbing. The 40 mile race will take roughly 3 hours and cover 2,500 feet of elevation change. Terrain at the Isle Du Bois State park is challenging and rocky, the multi-use trail getting from greenbelt to state park varies in conditions and includes very challenging sand portions. RACE INFORMATION Get in the holiday spirit and join us for the THIRD annual Holiday 5K & Fun Run; a celebration of fitness, community, and giving back! Whether you're running, walking, or cheering from the stands, your participation supports our local Rowlett cross country team and strengthens the bonds that make our community special. Dress in your favorite holiday gear and hit the course around our high school campus and nearby park. Let’s come together, get active, and make this a holiday tradition! 2025 Holiday 5k video 2024 Holiday 5K Video AWARDS EVERY 5K PARTICIPANT WILL RECEIVE A FINISHER MEDAL Awards in the 5k to Top 3 M/F Overall and in age groups: 18 & under, 19-30, 31-45, 46-60, 61+ SCHEDULE 7:15 Check-in/Packet Pickup and registration opens. Packets and Registration will be at the entrance to the RHS football field 8:30 5k Run (Starts on the track) 9:30 Fun Run (Starts on the track) 10:00 Awards Ceremony RACE SHIRT Everyone who registers by December 1st will be guaranteed a shirt of their selected size. Everyone who registers after December 1st will have the opportunity to receive shirts until stock runs out. Shirts are grey Sport-Tek Performance Competitor long sleeve dri-fit tees. 5k sponsors will be printed on the back in white ink. COURSE & PARKING The course is combined concrete and field, with some spots being narrow for traffic. We do not recommend a stroller, but if you are up for the adventure the choice is yours! Please, no pets on the courses. It will be an out and back course that starts on RHS campus and goes through the Pecan Grove Park trail behind the Rec. Click the hyperlink on the left side of the menu to view the course. Parking will be available in the back of Rowlett High School before 8:00am; there will be Saturday School traffic same day. Limited parking will also be available in the front of the school close to PGBT. We're Back! The 3rd Annual Holiday Hustle 5k dashes into town on Saturday, December 12, 2026, 8am! Run, jog, stroll—or shuffle like you’re late to a holiday party—in this festive, chip-timed fun run. For the younger crowd (ages 0-9), we’ve got the Kids 1k Reindeer Dash—antlers optional, but highly recommended. YES! There are age group awards, but let’s be honest: the real prize is the festive t-shirt and finisher medal you’ll casually wear to every family gathering as proof you’re both athletic and jolly. Holiday attire is “optional” in the same way fruitcake is “optional” at Christmas—it’s happening whether you like it or not. And yes, there are prizes for the best dressed, so start planning your elf-on-the-runway look now. This may be the least stressful day of your holiday season, unless of course you get overtaken by a Reindeer in the 1k. Either way, sign up now and secure your spot in the most festive hustle of the year!

Yippee Ki Yay! It’s time for the Peticolas Running Club Holiday Social Run/Walk! Get ready to celebrate the season with the final social run/walk of the year — Die Hard style! Grab your friends, family, co-workers, and even your favorite holiday troublemaker and join us for a festive morning of miles, memories, and holiday fun. This isn’t just another holiday gathering… it’s a casual 3-mile adventure followed by Peticolas brews and tacos from That Taco Dude! Whether you’re showing up in your best holiday gear, ready to channel your inner John McClane, or just looking for a fun way to kick off your weekend, we’re ready to celebrate with you. Go at YOUR pace, run, walk, skip, whatever you like the goal is to show up and have fun. Bring a friend or make new ones at the social run. The three miles is on a trail near the brewery! Check-in is between the hours of 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM. You can start your run/walk whenever you would like or join the 'group' start at 8:30 AM and run with the group! The rolling start allows you a choice, flexibility to go at your pace but please arrive by 9:00 AM (check in ends promptly at 9:00 AM, thank you!). Along the trail there will be mile markers out, and bottled water available to take with you (there is no water on the course) or bring your own filled water bottle. The social run includes the run/walk, a custom branded pint glass, three brews and tacos from THAT TACO DUDE.
